HyperX - Cloud II Core (Wireless)

Super late but incase anyone is wondering, Cloud 3 in general is good, but Cloud 2 is so much better when it comes to FPS games. I hear much clearer and better in Cloud 2 core wireless compare to my Cloud 3 wired

Tried them. Returned them same day, sounded like 4 feet away, thru a speaker. None the less, leather pads.

Just got back to the Cloud 2 Core wireless after using a razer one which broke last week. Had the cloud 2 wired before and i still think these are the best value for money headsets out there

Have you considered getting a pair of cloud core II wireless? (£70-80) They’re fairly cheap due to the lack of bluetooth support (dongle required). They’re built a *slight* bit cheaper than some other HyperX products, but compared to most other headsets they’re still built like a tank. I ended up getting a pair for work too as I wasn’t vibing with any of the headset options we would usually get, and they’re great.

I just got new cloud 2 wireless and they sound okay (cant compare to the old ones), but the microphone on them is worse than the one from my previous 10 bucks china-headset, which makes the headset completely unusable.

If you’re deadset on wireless, and given the options you mentioned: HyperX Cloud 2 Wireless. Out of all these brands, HyperX generally has the best reputation in terms of build-quality, especially in their Cloud-lineup of headsets. The mic is decent, and battery lasts around 30 hours per charge which is more than enough. I wouldn’t touch Razer *at all*.

The Cloud 2 Core is a lot less known about and less reviewed than the regular Cloud 2 Wireless, and one review that I checked out says that the Core lasts up to 20 hours from their personal testing, and the regular Cloud 2 does lives up to the 30 hours promised. I’d go with the regular Cloud 2

Hyperx cloud 2 wireless, have had mine for years and love it. Mic quality is superb and comfort is top of the line

I have a cloud 2 wireless and I find it a really bad product , just using it to not waste my money , but my 2 hyperx headsets purschases was bad AF , revolver S ( one of the worst headsets I ever used) and now cloud 2 wireless , bad directional audio and a lot of problems with software.

Personally I think the Cloud 2 wireless and Cloud 3 wireless are much better in terms of comfort and sound. The wired version is by far the best if you pair them up with a Audio DAC or a Audio Interface. Personally I'm using the EVO 4 with Cloud 2.

The Nova Pros are a really good headset, my girlfriend has a pair, the ANC isnt amazing, but you probably wont be using that feature much. By far the best feature is the hotswappable batteries, the audio quality is great, and the mic is usable, but nothing special. As for the HyperX ones, I personally would choose the HyperX Cloud II or III wireless over the alpha, the alphas are generally not as comfortable I have heard, and the quality of the drivers dont seem to be as good for gaming. Now personally, I have never used the alphas, this is just information I found when I was looking at them myself. If you have the money, definitely go for the NOVA, as they come with more QOL features and are just a really nice headset to use. If you want to save money, the Cloud II wireless are a good headset too! Or you could even get the Arctis Nova 5 Wireless, they are also a great headset.

Hyperx cloud 2 wireless, don't need drivers, don't need to fiddle around for decent sound.

The microphone is way better than the one on the Cloud 2 Wireless. Watch some video about the non-S 3 Wireless microphone, you will hear it. The 3 S is very similar to the 3.

Someone in the comments says it is bad, but my experience is different. The spatial awareness is excellent in CS2 (i have 3500+ hours). I can pinpoint sound directions with centimeter-level accuracy. I also loved the Cloud 2 Wireless in this regard, and I don't feel any difference between the two.

Yeah, it is a little bit loose, but not an issue.

Afaik only the Cloud 3 S has on-board memory to save the EQ via hardware, not just software. So if you are playing on a console mainly, then i would pick the 3 S. It is very good for gaming and music as well.

I used the Cloud 3 Wireless, the Cloud 2 Wireless and the Cloud 3 S Wireless. My order is sound wise: Cloud 3 S Wireless > Cloud 2 Wireless > Cloud 3 Wireless. I had to use EQ with the 3 Wireless, but it is not needed (for me) with the Cloud 3 S Wireless.

Cloud 3 S is the best (for me), very clear sound with good, but not overpovered bass. Cloud 2 Wireless has good bass, but it is a little bit muddy for my taste after i tried the Cloud 3 S. Cloud 3 Wireless has very clear sound but lacks bass without software EQ.

I don't know about the mobile app, but I think the 3 S is very fine without any EQ. And if you need some EQ you can set up it any pc (e.g university, library, friend's PC etc.), and save it to the headset's memory and never ever open the application ever.

I still have my Cloud 2 Wireless, i have one HP and one Kingston Cloud 2 Wireless, and they are both fine after 2-3 years of use. Cloud 3 S is more comfortable, has better sound, better battery and of course on-board memory and bluetooth connection. For me the Cloud 2 Wireless -> Cloud 3 Wireless jump was meh, i was not impressed, thats why i sent it back and tried the 3 S. The Cloud 2 Wireless -> Cloud 3 S Wireless jump is very noticable, i main the Cloud 3 S now for competitive gaming and music as well.

I tried all of them (alongside with the Fractal Scape) and for me, the 3 S is the best. Alpha and Cloud 2 has too much bass, non-S 3 too little and i need the bluetooth connection sometimes. But i still love my wired Cloud 2 and Cloud 2 Wireless.

Dunno man, for me the bass of the Cloud 2 Wireless often overpowers the mids and highs, and not in a good way and i don't want run EQ softwares to fix it, especially because i use the headset on my laptop and my console as well. I loved my Cloud 2 and Cloud 2 Wireless, but after trying other headphones in and out house, they sound a bit muffled. And RTINGS and other measurements are matching with my feelings. But of course the whole headphone stuff can be very subjective even if you have the measurements, i just wrote down my feelings after i used Cloud 2 -> Cloud 2 Wireless -> Cloud 3 Wireless -> Cloud 3 S Wireless.

I had the wired version of the HyperX Cloud 2's and they were awesome. I now have the wireless version and they are equally as awesome. I'm no audiophile, but these just work and they sound great imo. Won't break the bank either.

I’ve had a ton of “gaming headsets” over the years, including a ton of sennheisers via sponsorship during cs. They’re all shit, because they try to do both audio and mic. And they’re all cheap plastic. Swapped to Beyerdynamic DT770 pro + XLR mic and after 12 years of using that I’m swapping to 990 pro because they’re literally falling apart now. Can even buy replacement parts to fix it up again. Never looking back at overpriced “gaming branded headsets” Maybe the only one I can recommend if you still insist on getting one, is the hyper x cloud 2 Because of similar durability with Beyerdynamic, as it’s literally a product made with them.

Sorry just saw this message, and no unfortunately this is a wired headphone set…(the Dt770) The cloud 2 hyperX has a wireless variant that works with ps5 as far as I know, ( but might come with a small amount of static if you’re sensitive to this ) Can recommend turning either the headsets 7.1 off or on the ps5 side as having both on can cause issues For the rest it’s plug and play

Easily HyperX Cloud 2. Have had 2 pairs, both were great. Good audio, comfortable and pretty sturdy. The value for money you get on them is amazing IMO.

560s is possibly the upgrade you are looking for. You can attach different cable and microphone. I went Game Zero - HyperX Cloud 2 - Game One - 560s. Zero regrets.

Not sure if you have ordered yet, I currently have a pair of wired cloud 3s, they are great, the mic is very good, only issue i had was the wire always got stuck under my chair wheel because of how long it was which eventually led the usbc being ripped out. Everyone i have spoken to has preferred the cloud 2 and the cloud 2 is used by a lot more fps streamers and pros, i am likely going to order the cloud 2s so i can give you my opinion if you still need.

I ordered the cloud 2 and I love it honestly, took a minute to get used to but the sound is better for valorant which is what i play, the back of the sound controls has a lcip so i can just clip it onto something else. Both are honestly great imo.

HyperX Cloud 2 is solid. i think they just made a version 3? I can wear mine basically all day without ear fatigue. mic sounds fine. my buddy has one and his voice comes through sound and clear.

HyperX Cloud 2. Those are basically just rebranded Takstar 80 with a mic attached so they're quite a bit better than all those other options since they're based on actual good headphones.

I've had both. My usage is upwards of 15ish hours per day for work plus gaming on average. The joint for the cloud 2 where the band meets the metal doesn't last longer than 15 months. That warranty has been used too often. I just got the cloud alpha and it's much the same so far, except it's louder and I can hear a larger amount of sounds off rip without modification that helps in games where you need to hear everything like tarkov. Oh I forgot, the sound of the mic in cloud 2s seems to be better clarity if you care about that I'd still get cloud 2 if I'm needing to save cash but preferably in going to buy alphas from now on. The 300 hour battery is insane.

I tried a few headset last month (PC gaming) SteelSeries Nova 7P, Audiotechnica M50X, Benedynamic DT880 Pro, and HyperX cloud 2. These are my opinion as day-to-day game and music enjoyer. Not an audiophile. I’m using EQ with Steel series GG - Sonar. Nova 7 and hyperX are wireless and closed back. M50X (closed back) and DT 880 pro (semi-open-back) are wired. I settled down for HyperX cloud 2 (upgraded with wicked cushion) for wireless and DT 880 pro for wired with DAC. Nova 7 is awesome, but it falls short on 2 pain points - too small for my head and plastic hinges. I fear I’ll break it in months from my daily usage/abuse. Otherwise they are terrific. M50X is also good with crystal clear sounds… but I prefer open back of the DT880 Pro more. DT880 Pro also has bigger ear cushion, more comfortable long gaming session. Purely personal preference. HyperX cloud 2 works wonders for me. Good sound and bass. Even better when used with EQ. When compared to Nova 7, it has better omph bass in wireless mode (nova 7 is a beast when plugged in). DT 880 pro is my spare for when the hyperX ran out of battery or when I need a better sound for movie immersive-ness. It just works. As your partner wanting wireless, give HyperX and SteelSeries a try. They are both closed back with good reviews. YMMW. These are under $150. If you can spend $200+ then there are other tier of headset that’s outside of my budget range.

Go for hyperX cloud 2. I think its around 7k but you can get it for cheaper around this time. Build is study, sound quality is great, the mic is nice, light and comfortable. Even after prolonged usage it doesn't feel like its crushing your skull. Been using one for over 2 years now and its great. I had the RG cosmo 7.1 as well. Solid headset for the price. At some point i was considering rebuying it as well 😹

I have also used the razor headphones in the same price range. I find hyperX to be superior.

I tried tons of headsets before I found ones that were actually comfortable. I really like both the hyperx cloud 2 and cloud 3. The 2's I have are wired and the 3's are wireless. I play a lot of Naraka Blade Point and really appreciate the 360 sound for finding where opponent footsteps, grapple, weapon sounds are coming.

For that budget and for FPS, hyperx cloud 2 (not 3) is probably your best shot. Decent for competitive games and usually comes with a pop filter for the mic. HyperX or even the G430 are perfectly fine starter headsets. I've personally used the Cloud 2s for like 4 years before replacing them. My friend recently picked up a G430 at 50% off, and it's a steal at the price he paid. I'd definitely recommend OP to save up and get a better dedicated pair in the future though... but a decent quality gaming headset on a steep discount is still a viable option

Go with the cloud Alpha for better Build quality and 3.5 jack cable or go with the cloud 2 for more features but less build quality and surround sound that’s kinda garbage

Not that I want to disagree with you on the topic - I am fairly positive studio headphones are better, but.. my HyperX Cloud 2 are alive and well after almost 6 years of beating. Given.. I replaced the head cushions and the plastic is starting to fall off by itself, but still working xD

I haven't really used a Steelseries, I've heard good thing about them but I don't use one. HyperX does sometimes do rebrands of existing headphones, like the Cloud 2 is a Takstar Pro 80 (very similar to the Beyernamic DT770 Pro) with a microphone and the Cloud Orbit is basically an Audeze Mobius without Bluetooth (the Orbit S also removes the head tracking) for less money. The Alpha and Cloud 3 are their own designs and generally also have pretty good sound quality without being expensive.

I have glasses, hyperx cloud 2 is insane. Nothing has come close to it in quality, including the microphone. I have even purchased an replacement if my current one ever breaks.

Depends what you are looking for really. I have a beyer 900 pro and hifimam he1000, both that would absolutely clear gaming headphones in terms of clarity and audio performance. But when I game, I just want an easy all in one solution, enough to hear where enemies are, decent enough audio, mic that works without fail and hassle, plug and play without software and wireless, so I always use my hyperx cloud 2. For taking calls and gaming, I cant find something as plug and play and simple and love that.

The Cloud 2 are notorious for ridiculous amounts of muddy bass. With the issue being a significantly raised area around 300khz (which adds significant "thickness"). The Cloud 3 simple needs a little nudge in the subbass and in the lower treble, but is a much nicer "base" FR to work with than the old Cloud 2. And the Cloud 2 was just a rebadged Takstar Pro 80. Great for it's time, but outclassed nowadays.

The Alpha's feel better built than the 'newer' Cloud 2 but personally I think the Cloud 2 sounds slightly better due to the bass not bleeding into the mids as much. So I think it comes down to whether you want slightly better build quality (and more premium feel) or slightly better sound quality. The Alpha's still sound decent if you're not cranking up the volume but the cloud 2 just sound a little bit better. I will also say that even tho the cloud 2's don't feel as well built I haven't had a problem with mine.

Two best "gaming" headsets for footsteps have been the hyper x cloud 2's and razer blackshark v2 pro. Both series have newer models, but the v2's were tuned specifically for hearing footsteps in shooters so they remain a favorite for many players, including pros. The newer razer model just came out and have different tuning for more overall uses and some other features within their software so you can EQ them, but haven't tried them. I'd vouch for both the blackshark v2pro and hyperx cloud 2 for fps gaming though. No other headphone/headset I use comes close to the hyperx cloud 2's for footstep directional clarity in games I play (valorant, apex, cs2). Music and movies are ass on it though lmao. Other than that, I'd probably recommend just getting headphones like the seinheiser HD600 and then a seperate microphone to enjoy gaming/media tbh. It's not very hard to hear footsteps if you're locked in and if you wanna get deep into it, you can use EQ software on nearly any decent headphones to lean towards fps gaming and then also switch to another EQ profile to enjoy music/media.

Just a quick heads up - HyperX Cloud 3s aren't really all that bassy if at all, which I have found to disappoint many people online, so if you're looking for a more traditional yet still good sounding headset (to the untrained ears at least), maybe look for the HyperX Cloud Alphas instead, or maybe even the Cloud 2s (more boomy, or bassy if you will). These two picks of mine will probably sound better to you, and apart from the earcups (both) which eventually peel and the volume wheel on the Alphas (both of which you can easily and cheaply replace if it gives up on you), you'll get something that not only sounds quite good, is very comfortable, and has a sorta decent mic, you'll also get something that's built really well so it actually lasts. Btw. for more info that you can still hopefully digest easily enough, check out the recommendations by [Rtings.com](http://Rtings.com) (not a typo), they've got nice top-recommendation lists, nice reviews, and if you need it, a bunch of statistics and metrics and whatnot that they use to test things objectively. Cloud 2 is the jam, I tried the cloud alpha by them and didn’t like them. Cloud 3 wasn’t as comfortable but I didn’t try them while gaming. But fair enough if you just don’t like hyper x. Personally I liked the cloud 2s enough to already buy a back up pair for when my current years old pair dies finally. 

Most streamer/pros from CS use the hyper x cloud 2 for years, I got it because of it myself. Best decision ever. It is leight weight, great sound (without 7.1), quite cheap, good price/Performance, it lasts for many, many years (I think it has 10k+ hours usage at this point). Don't know anything about hyperx cloud alpha, my guess it is quite similar

Sony InZone H9. Tried them all Bluetooth and Wired. Good bass, mid and highs. Can connect a couple devices at once. Playing a game you can also have your phone connected. Range is very good. For an out of box solution just plug in the usb dongle and you are good to go. FYI. Everyone will recommend Astros or Arctic even HyperX. They lack bass and land in the “Tinny” sound. Granted if you like wired, get the HyperX Cloud 2’s with a amp. You’ll need a converter for the PS5. That had booming bass. Loved it. But I wanted to go wireless and the H9’s are awesome. Original H9’s have dropped to $150 because they just came out with the H9 II which are $350. I have the original. What is your "cheap"? Hyper X Cloud 2 is the way to go if it fits your budget.

I just bought the hyperX cloud 2 from Walmart for $39, going to grab these and compare the two. I have PC37X’s for my PC and really liked them. If they have a warmer tone like Sennheiser then most likely I’ll keep these and return the cloud 2.

I can recommend HyperX. I had the Cloud 2 and now I have the Cloud 3. I'm totally satisfied and the sound is really great.

I've had the Cloud 2 since 2021 and it's still the best headset I've had and works perfectly. I recently got the Cloud 3 and those felt uncomfortable. I didn't notice any difference tbh, other than the weird shape and how it felt. I returned it and swapped back to the Cloud 2.

When I needed a newheadset I bought the HyperX Cloud 2. They were comfortable but the mic didn't work well. I returned them and bought the Arctis Nova 5 Wireless for PC and haven't looked back. I'd recommened them

To this day more cs pro uses the 2 than the alpha, it doesn't matter for them as they aren't playing for millions of dollars so they cheap out on the headset

Cloud 2 for fps I have both, maybe the alpha edges the 2 in the mids but I would buy a beat up 2 used from the kingston era than this dogshit what hp sells

I will be honest with you here, I have been an FPS player for like 10-15 years now, Hyper X Cloud 2 are one of the best of all time. The quality sound in-game is very good you hear all the important info and the mic itself isn’t bad. I use them still today and I don’t regret it. I heard razer blackshark are good but I never tried them myself and idk the price on them.

Cloud 2 has good sound quality but they will get dirty a lot and the earpads will peel off, i still have them for 2 years of 3 now, the only thing i didn't like about it that they get dirty thats it

I currently use the HyperX Cloud 2. It’s a great headset. Would recommend. And Before it I had Astro A10s Wired, They have stood up well over the years, highly recommend them. You can remove the cable if it’s damaged and replace it. Ive been through 5+ cables for it. I personally prefer cabled over wireless, I hate trying to remember to charge it.

I have a Hyper X Cloud 2 and it seriously hurts my ears with extended use. Not my ear drums, but my ears themselves. I hate it so much. Does the 3 improve on that?

There is only one headset that every gamers should have, there is only 1 correct answer no matter the budget: Hype X cloud 2. No 3, no alpha just 2. I don’t discuss, trust me and if you don’t go see why every pro use them instead of 350€ astro headset.

I tried the HyperX and it had dogshit bass, and sounded awful. To me. Everything is subjective. The best headset I've ever used, again, to me, have been the Logitech pro-X. Amazzzzzing bass. You hear it differently in those things. I don't know why or what happened but every other headset I tried, all the "professional" ones like razer etc all sounded tinny and terrible. Like so bad I felt they were closer to Five Below quality airpod sounds.

What headset you recommend? Currently have a hypercloud 2 and it´s breaking down as I´ve got it for 8 years now lol, bought the hypercloud 3 and it´s whack, literally feeling pressure on my ears and the microphone is bad. Tried arctic steelseries and even that one felt like pressure on my ears.

I have/had that one too but after 8 years of wonderful service I am looking for a replacement, it´s good but the mic is apparently not the greatest, heard on discord today from friends that I was always on 200% as it always seemed low.

I got rid of vr and got triples just because i wanted a more agile setup incould move around freely in, don't use my hyper x cloud2 anymore cuz they wired, using the song xm4s, sometimes when i really wanna hear some loud music yea i use the cloud 2s love everything in my setup

Crap I can’t remember what mine was called. I’ve had it about 3 years now. Pretty sure it’s a hypercloud as well but I don’t remember which one it was. It’s got a 180 hour battery life though.

Fully overear. So I guess it’s the 2. Fully overear is the only kind I can use. Can’t stand the feeling of partially or barely. Bone induction isn’t bad though.

Hyper X cloud 2, from my experience the price point is very reasonable and I’ve gotten about 5-10 years out of every pair I’ve owned!

I got a hyperx cloud wireless. Thing has 300 hours of battery life! Practically never nees to recharge it

from my research- i mostly used reviews sites like reddit vetted-these are a few safe bets: HyperX Cloud II/III just because they’re comfy and you don’t have to fight with software. nothing fancy, just works and the mic is serviceable. the AKG K612 or Sennheiser HD560S. super clean imaging, great for footsteps and they’re not hyped garbage. you’d just need a small dac/amp but even a cheap dongle drives them fine. also the Steelseries arctis wired models are still around and pretty chill. very comfy headband, decent sound and you don’t have to pray the drivers don’t explode

I use hyper x wireless for my ps5 and I’m at a 22mm. They’re great, never had a problem

Would go for hyper x cloud wireless, its good sound good mic and not over expensive, arround 100 a 120.

This is definitely the best choice for a 17 year old. I've had nicer headsets, but I come back to the clouds.

Hyperx cloud wireless. Battery lasts for, i kid you not, like 6-10 months. Mic is good. Its comfortable.

I think they're definitely 'good enough'. Especially for wireless.

I have the HyperX Cloud that’s wireless. It’s less expensive than another headsets I bought, but the connection quality is great and it seems to last way longer than any other headset I’ve purchased. The other brands I’ve purchased are Turtle Beach (2) and SteelSeries (2)

I have a blackshark v2 pro and honestly i love it for music, but i am a bass freak, if u don't prefer bass>everything else, then i cannot reccomend blackshark v2 pro. Comfy: 8/10 Wireless distance: 1/10 Battery life: 1/10 Audio quality: 6/10 I have hyperx cloud wireless aswell and i mean, for the right price its a nice backup headset, its not that comfy tho and the sound is at very best meh. Comfy: 5/10 Wireless distance: 8/10 Battery life:10/10 Audio Quality: 4/10 I've not tried ARctis nova pro, but i had the predecessor and if thats anything to go by then it will have great battery life but everything else pretty avg. Never been a fan of Logitech headsets but thats a personal foul i guess. My current everyday headset is Audeze Maxwell followed by HyperX cloud wireless as a backup with blackshark for occasional music listening. It all depends on what you are looking for in a headset tbh, if sound quality & wireless is what you truely want, then there is nothing that beats the Maxwell, it has best sound you can get in any wireless headset/phones, but ofcourse that comes at a higher than avg price for a pair of "gaming headset". Comfy: 10/10 (with third party addons, stock is 1/10 Battery life: 9/10 Wireless distance: 9/10 Audio quality: 9/10 (Personal preference would be more bass) If you do decide to lookup the Maxwell, you NEED to buy third party ear cussions & headband because....yikes. Personal reccomendation would be WC freeze & "ZMF pilot pad headband".

But I think it's audio isn't great. Like good, but not great as you could get.

The wireless one can take any usb-c cable and that length can change on which you use for it and can be used while charging. the non-wireless hyperx 3 has about 4 feet without usb-c dongle cable. the dongle cable is a little over 4 ft and so if you use both the headset attached cable with the dongle cable it goes to around 8 ft or so.

That’s what I have I think. Battery life is great. I don’t care about sound quality because I literally only use it for chat, and for that it’s fine.

I have had the wireless hyperx clouds for like 5 years now. Still going and haven’t died on me. While the audio fidelity may not be the greatest they are probably the best PC headphones I’ve ever had and I feel like I am an audiophile who has used quite a few brands.

loved my astros. especially with the fiber audio. had them for a very long time. i got a wireless pair of hyperx for around $200. those are great too. im never going back to wired. headsets are worth the money, i feel the cheap ones really dont last especially razer

Mmx Wireless 200. really can’t go wrong with that. The mic is amazing, sound quality good. Only downside is it’s pretty ugly but who cares Also had the hyperx wireless ones but sent it back because the audio quality is worse than with the mmx and also the hyperx didn’t have Bluetooth. So you couldn’t connect it to a phone or other devices without the dongle

I'll second this, but I also gladly trade a little bit of sound quality for a weeks worth of battery life. Its insane how many hours you can get out of a single charge.

ch720n is fine but if you can stretch budget a bit, get a proper gaming headset, 720s are like a mid‑tier for a reason; you'll feel the difference in positional audio. 90% of us are on something like a HyperX or HyperX Cloud, not a budget Sony.

I've had the Hyper Cloud X. The plastic part holding the earphone to the base has broken 2x. The first time they reluctantly replaced the headphones after a month of arguing. The second time they wouldn't. They don't sell the little plastic piece so you have to find a 3d printer to pay for them to be made. Total waste and won't buy their product again.

Yeah that same part has broken on every pair of HyperX Clouds I've owned. I had two pairs that lasted decent length, but then I just opened a new pair like 2 months ago and that piece is already broken again. I used to be a fan but now I'm searching for a new brand.

Hyperx clouds only because of how light they are. I work in music and have an amazing pair of audio technicas and even though they're not SUPER heavy, they really hurt my head during long gaming sessions.

To answer your headset question, I have found the HyperX Cloud headset to be amazing... The battery life is witchcraft - you can go weeks without needing to charge. Decent sound quality as well and everyone online always compliments how clear I sound... HyperX did a great job with those. To everyone else discussing Headsets vs. Headphones: If it's amazing sound quality you seek, you will be disappointed again and again trying Headsets. You want Headphones! While sound quality is a focus for most companies making Headsets, they have Cost of Production to think about when it comes to designing the overall product. Essentially, they have a budget. Since Headsets have voice input and other factors such as compatibility with cross-platform and convenience of Wireless Technology, this budget gets spread thin... You will never find optimal sound quality in Headsets period!

For that price you're looking at hyper x cloud or a cheap set of turtle Beach. Don't expect quality or features, but it will be useable.

Personally, I stopped using "gaming headsets" a while ago. Over the years, I've tried various ones (Razer BlackShark V2, HyperX Cloud (can't remember the exact model), SteelSeries Arctis 7) and concluded that they all have terrible sound quality and are uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. Pretty much the only time I used them was when I needed the mic for voice communication. Outside of that, I've been using an AKG K7xx and Sennheiser HD6xx, both from Massdrop, with an external USB DAC and amplifier - in my case, an O2+ODAC and an SDAC - also both from Massdrop. Both of these work fine both in Linux and Windows. A year ago or so, I got a desk microphone (Elgato Wave:3) for voice communications so I wouldn't have to use the horrible gaming headsets at all anymore. Currently using the Elgato Wave:3 as well as a Fifine AM8 (in two different locations), and both work fine with Linux as well. If I was to personally recommend something, it would be to get a decent headphone, such as Sennheiser HD6xx (or HD650, which is almost the same but probably easier to get if Massdrop isn't currently selling HD6xx) and DAC+amplifier, and a desk microphone for voice communication if needed. It'll be a bit more expensive than a gaming headset, and not wireless, but the difference in comfort and audio quality is massive.

Love my hyper X headset. I recently purchased their gaming earbuds bc I can’t wear a headset for long, I have a scar on my head in the shape and size of a headset basically, and the earbuds are surprisingly awesome! Sure there isn’t a ton of low end but that’s expected. For $20 they’re worth it imo.

tl;dr: Hyper X headsets check the cheap and comfy boxes and have a mic attached to them, but I don’t think most headsets would be anywhere close to what you have now. Depending on what people are looking for in a headset. If someone is insistent on a headset instead of a dedicated headset instead of separate headphones and mic, then I usually steer them towards Sennheiser PC37x or PC38x for a flat sound and build quality. Hyper X for cost, comfort, and features. And Astro for a jack of all trades, master of none kinda headphone (Not really too familiar with their QC since they were acquired by Logitech though). None of these headsets sound exceptional, which is why most users try to steer people towards dedicated mic and headphones if they can. But headsets still have a place and some people just prefer them. The only gaming headset I’ve heard with good imaging is the Sennheiser PC37X and PC38X (also known as the EPOS Game Zero and Game One), but the 490 is still vastly superior in most ways. Imaging in headphones is hard. Whether we like it or not, headphones are stereo. So in the end, it entirely depends on the game engine and devs to determine whether or not they are going to emulate surround sound for headphone users. Some do, some do not. It’s a crapshoot. So most of the time, well imaging headphones are still only accurate on the stereo axis because games don’t simulate 360 audio. One more edit: Headsets that advertise 7.1 are using software emulation too. As I mentioned above, headphones only have stereo channels (L/R). I have NEVER heard an out of engine emulation that sounded good. They all sound bad (except ATMOS, but that’s a whole different can of worms that we won’t get into). Don’t use them.

My favorite is HyperX. The mic quality is good and so is the sound. It's comfy, durable, and both sets I own have lasted me for a really long time. I think my oldest of the two (Cloud) is from 2015 and my other one (Alpha) is about five years old now and it's used daily. I'm not a fan of Razer's headsets. A few of my friends use them and their mic quality seems to be pretty bad, especially for how much you pay for them. It would be more understandable if they were cheap. I've also heard they tend to break pretty easily. My only complaint about the Arctis is the two sets I've used (not sure of the models) made a creaking sound whenever I moved my head and it drove me nuts. One was brand new and the other was lightly used that I borrowed from someone. No idea if that was bad luck or if it's something it's known to do.

Right now I’m solely on Logitech gear. G pro wireless mouse, G915x wireless and G pro X2 headset. I’ve been through a lot of headphones in the last 5 years trying to find some that are comfortable yet still perform decently for shooters (Mainly Tarkov rn) Steel series was hot garbage imo, Just very uncomfortable and audio quality was not that good. My hyper X clouds were okay but flimsy and footsteps weren’t being picked up yet my whole team could hear them. And my razer krakens I had the same issue with you and just straight up hated their software The only 2 gripes I have with the Pro X2 1: the headband isn’t padded enough and tends to hurt the top of my head after an hour or so causing me to kinda shuffle the headset around on my head to relieve the pain 2: The mic mute button is in a dumb spot being right next to the Bluetooth connect button. I go to mute and hit the Bluetooth button instead and lose audio so I’d have to hit it again The only reason I went with all Logitech was so everything ran through the one app and not multiple different apps for all my stuff, I already had the mouse so I just sent it and continued with all their stuff

I've considered those, because I want wireless. Will it be a worthwhile upgrade to my HyperX Cloud that I've had for 10 years? And how does the point about making any audio source wireless work? I play a lot on my PS2 and 1st gen Xbox still.

Plus one for HyperX, although I heard the newer models since they got taken over is not as good.

I've had a Kingston Hyper X Cloud for my main PC for a decade. They are bullet proof and the most comfortable headset I have ever owned, and I have had many over the years. Just bought a new pair of the same (now owned by HP) for my sim rig, and they are just as comfortable and sound just as good.

Hyperx Cloud has been a very solid choice, not too expensive and the mic ain't bad. I used it for 7 years or so until it broke at the earmuffs.

I’m using a HyperX Cloud headset, paired with a Turtle Beach PX22 amplifier. I like this setup because I don’t have to think about charging batteries, and it works with all of my consoles, including when I play online with my OG Xbox.

I was gonna say if you have a large head hyper x cloud is the way to go.

The HyperX Clouds are great and definitely a good buy. I'd recommend looking into IEMs too though before deciding on anything. Granted they won't come with an included microphone, but the audio is way better

I had a HyperX CloudS for 4 years, then I switched to the HyperX Cloud Alpha and it is a dream. 300 hour battery life means I can charge it once a month after using it for work and gaming every day.

I had about 3 of them. They are good when they work but eventually they stop working. Mine only lasted a year almost to the dot on all 3.

I completely agree the sound was great never stopped working but my problems was always the mic. It would stop working that and Xbox controller aux ports suck ass!

For comfort, insane durability, light/mid weight, detachable mic and wired as well as great value for the money, take a look at the very first hyper x cloud gaming headset. It's dirt cheap. Obviously there are better alternatives, but for the price you get a nice gaming headset you can use for years.

Another vote for the HyperX Cloud series. Good sound quality (for a non music aficionado like me) and actually amazing build quality compared to lots of expensive gamer headsets. No flimsy plastic but solid medal frame. My old HyperX lasted 8 years. Finally, consider going wireless. I resisted a long time but finally got the Cloud Alpha and it truly has 300 hours of battery life. I don’t need to charge it for months and I use it daily for multiple hours (also for work zoom calls so mic quality is actually good).

Maybe I am a bit late on this topic but from what I have heard, the HyperX Cloud series and Logitech Pros are quite good. Or am I wrong and those are not worth mentioning (I am really on the search for new headphones cause the padding on my Hyperx cloud mix are dying)
