I haven't detected any hiss/white noise with my pair. I've used them with the ultra low latency wireless dongle and/or Bluetooth on PS5 Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone 17 Pro, Switch 2, Lenovo Legion Go S and wired to the PS Portal. No hiss in any of these situations for me.
I strongly advise against getting the Alphas, less comfortable than the Cloud 3s and I've had nothing but issues with crosstalk/sound bleeding, was an absolute nightmare and I've since then switched to Cloud 3 and they're amazing. Sure they have a slightly flatter sound plane than the Alphas but EQ makes up for it and I barely hear the difference now, mic is also way better.
Dual mode connectivity is fairly common for higher-end gaming headsets, but not too much on budget models. The new HyperX [Cloud III S Wireless](https://hyperx.com/products/hyperx-cloud-iii-s-wireless-gaming-headset) is pretty good (definitely better than a Cloud Flight), but it's a bit past your budget. There's also the SteelSeries [Arctis Nova 5 Wireless](https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets/arctis-nova-5) (as well as the better [Arctis Nova Pro Wireless](https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets/arctis-nova-pro), but that's way past your budget).
Well, you're pretty much limited to gaming headsets if you care about wireless. Bluetooth is not appropriate for gaming due to it's latency (notice how there aren't any Bluetooth only gaming headsets on the market; Bluetooth is always a secondary connection). If wireless is a must, something like the HyperX Cloud III S Wireless or the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite would be good choices. They're high quality, comfortable, and sound good enough (it's not fair to compare most gaming headsets to Hi-Fi headphones). If you want headphones that are about as comfortable as it gets and don't mind a wired connection, a much higher cost, and the need to buy a headphone amp, headphones don't really get more comfortable than the Sennheiser HD 800 S (also note that these are open-back, meaning they aren't all that good in noisy spaces and others can hear what you are listening to, but you get the increased comfort of allowing your ears to breath).
if he cares about good sound, hyperx cloud 3 s wireless
i had the Logitech Pro X wired and now im on the Hyper X Cloud 3s wireless. With the Logitech i never had an EQ i just used the standard with the Logitech G Hub settings. The HyperX default sound feels "flat" but with an EQ and the DTSX they sound rly good in games, YT and movies. I would say both are an good option. I feel like the mic on the HyperX is a little bit better but never had a complain about the mic on both. You can't go wrong with either one.
the r/HeadphoneAdvice cult has downvoted you but even in 2026 there is not a single audiophile/non-gaming brand wireless headset that can remotely compete with the likes of cloud 3S at that price. There was the DROP PC38X but open back requires a silent room. Though idk if your nova elite suggestion makes sense. At that price surely there is a better alternative no?
I'm 100% with you. I was a HyperX fan for a while but I'm in a louder apartment now and when I tried the Cloud 3S, the passive noise cancellation wasn't enough. Sadly I will have to play 2x the price for an equivalent with ANC.
Didn't find the Sony Inzone H9 II comfortable at all. I feel like they're designed for tiny ears. Also there was a lot of air pressure with ANC on that I didn't notice with my much cheaper headsets from another brand (even older MX4 didn't have this much pressure iirc). The worst of all was the sound. It was horrible compared to the half-priced Cloud 3s. If clouds had ANC and better earpads I would keep them for everything else but looks like the perfect headset doesn't exist...
Clamp in Cloud 3 is fine. The other commentor forgets that it's a new headset. Cloud 2 also had clamp pressure when I first bought it. So does every headset on the planet. You will need to loosen the headset by either using it for a few weeks or putting it over a headset holder or just some books. Overall the Cloud 3 comfort is way better than Cloud 2. Having said that, I prefer Cloud Alpha's comfort to these 2. The ear cups of the alpha are so thick and nice
HyperX Cloud 3s and I wouldn’t think twice.
HyperX Cloud 3 s wireless. They’re on sale on Amazon right not for like $120 I think. Astro A50x. People will shit on these but I always end up coming back. Feels pretty open, so not as immersive. Audeze Maxwell. if you like heavy things on your head. I don’t think the directional audio in my experience is as good with these than the other two. Nova Pro Elite. If you want to throw $600 at your problem and get sound a little worse than the Maxwells
I got this white version last week myself. Great headset wit great audio.
I use a pair of Sennheiser HD550's going through a Fosi K7 Amp/Dac when i want wired and a pair of HyperX Cloud III S Wireless when i want some wireless action. Both top picks and you can get the HyperX at a great price these days.
