I've personally found that the Waves NX virtual surround function works best for my ears. Theres a couple headsets that use Waves including the Audeze Mobius and HyperX Orbit S.  Everyone's ears a little different and different HRTFs work better for some than others. I'd recommend watching a tutorial on installing HeSuVi. It's a program that will let's you try out a whole bunch of different virtual surround sound HRTFs.

I haven't really used a Steelseries, I've heard good thing about them but I don't use one. HyperX does sometimes do rebrands of existing headphones, like the Cloud 2 is a Takstar Pro 80 (very similar to the Beyernamic DT770 Pro) with a microphone and the Cloud Orbit is basically an Audeze Mobius without Bluetooth (the Orbit S also removes the head tracking) for less money. The Alpha and Cloud 3 are their own designs and generally also have pretty good sound quality without being expensive.

If you want my honest opinion, avoid "gaming headsets" in general. They are all woefully over priced and very bad in quality. I have a sennhieser 560S which didn't even cost 200$ and came to it from using a hyperX cloud orbit S (which was 350 USD) and the sennhiesser mops the floor with the hyperX headset in every single way except the fact that it lacks a mic. I've never looked back because the 560S is so good especially with sound direction, that it has improved my gameplay, but most notably it just sounds far better overall. A slight con of note is that this headset is so good that it can make musical artifacts kind of jump out at you. There is a specific rock track i listen too by an indie musician on youtube (i purchased the track on bandcamp and am playing the FLAK file for it) and there is one part where with "normal" (aka poor quality) headphones it sounds like a brief half second gap. With the 560S on a DAC though, i can actually hear the musician very lightly strum an off note and catch it quickly. It isn't detectable under most circumstances, but it really bugs me that i can hear his error and he shipped the track with it, knowingly or not. This is a good point on how ridiculously sensitive this headset is. Assuming no errors exist in the track though, it sounds like your actually at a live performance with how good the acoustics are. Admittedly, the 560S is wired and requires a DAC with a 6.35 jack, but there are other models in the same line which are wired that use the more common 3.5 jack and don't require a DAC or are wireless. I'm personally an audiophile, so having studio quality sound is important to me. It might not be as important to you, so ultimately it falls to you to make the decision to ignore this or not. Just keep in mind that you can get get a razor siren V3 mini for 60$, and then still grab quite a few moderate to high quality studio quality headsets for less than 200$, and you'll get sound quality better than most 300+ dollar "gaming headsets" and mic quality that will compete with professional streamers. If the purpose of this headset really is gaming, i highly suggest wired be considered unless being mobile is non-negotiable. Even if you must go with wired, you'll still be treated better by a wireless studio headset + stand alone mic, and for cheaper. sennhiesser specifically has the [ACCENTUM Plus Wireless](https://www.sennheiser-hearing.com/en-US/p/accentum-plus-wireless/clptn4hsgc3440bvtlfmu9xad/) and after you add in the cost of the mic, a siren V3 mini by razer, this comes in at roughly 40 USD less than most "high end" gaming headsets which generally sit around th 250-350 mark, factoring in about 10 dollars worth of shipping fees due to having to ship products from 2 separate companies. Another really important note is most headsets aimed at studios often also sell parts so for example, you can replace the headband and ear muffs instead of the whole thing outright. In some cases, these headsets even allow speaker replacements. You will not find molecularity or parts for sale for most "gaming" headsets. Also, special note, if you have bad sound pollution in your area DO NOT get open backed headsets. The 560S is an amazing headset, but it doesn't insulate sound at all. Open backed headsets have much better sound stage which helps a lot with simulating directional sound at the cost of lacking sound insulation. If this is a factor for you, then absolutely get a closed back headset.

Hyper x cloud. No need to install driver. Put the jack inside and you are done. Best gaming headset. I switched a lot of headset in 6 years and I’ve now returned to this. It’s my second pair

Another vote for the HyperX Cloud series. Good sound quality (for a non music aficionado like me) and actually amazing build quality compared to lots of expensive gamer headsets. No flimsy plastic but solid medal frame. My old HyperX lasted 8 years. Finally, consider going wireless. I resisted a long time but finally got the Cloud Alpha and it truly has 300 hours of battery life. I don’t need to charge it for months and I use it daily for multiple hours (also for work zoom calls so mic quality is actually good).

Maybe I am a bit late on this topic but from what I have heard, the HyperX Cloud series and Logitech Pros are quite good. Or am I wrong and those are not worth mentioning (I am really on the search for new headphones cause the padding on my Hyperx cloud mix are dying)

Love my hyper X headset. I recently purchased their gaming earbuds bc I can’t wear a headset for long, I have a scar on my head in the shape and size of a headset basically, and the earbuds are surprisingly awesome! Sure there isn’t a ton of low end but that’s expected. For $20 they’re worth it imo.

tl;dr: Hyper X headsets check the cheap and comfy boxes and have a mic attached to them, but I don’t think most headsets would be anywhere close to what you have now. Depending on what people are looking for in a headset. If someone is insistent on a headset instead of a dedicated headset instead of separate headphones and mic, then I usually steer them towards Sennheiser PC37x or PC38x for a flat sound and build quality. Hyper X for cost, comfort, and features. And Astro for a jack of all trades, master of none kinda headphone (Not really too familiar with their QC since they were acquired by Logitech though). None of these headsets sound exceptional, which is why most users try to steer people towards dedicated mic and headphones if they can. But headsets still have a place and some people just prefer them. The only gaming headset I’ve heard with good imaging is the Sennheiser PC37X and PC38X (also known as the EPOS Game Zero and Game One), but the 490 is still vastly superior in most ways. Imaging in headphones is hard. Whether we like it or not, headphones are stereo. So in the end, it entirely depends on the game engine and devs to determine whether or not they are going to emulate surround sound for headphone users. Some do, some do not. It’s a crapshoot. So most of the time, well imaging headphones are still only accurate on the stereo axis because games don’t simulate 360 audio. One more edit: Headsets that advertise 7.1 are using software emulation too. As I mentioned above, headphones only have stereo channels (L/R). I have NEVER heard an out of engine emulation that sounded good. They all sound bad (except ATMOS, but that’s a whole different can of worms that we won’t get into). Don’t use them.

My hyper x is amazing but I also have a cheap headset for noise canceling that’s almost as good . Gaming brand stuff is often a rip off

I've had the Hyper Cloud X. The plastic part holding the earphone to the base has broken 2x. The first time they reluctantly replaced the headphones after a month of arguing. The second time they wouldn't. They don't sell the little plastic piece so you have to find a 3d printer to pay for them to be made. Total waste and won't buy their product again.
