I've personally found that the Waves NX virtual surround function works best for my ears. Theres a couple headsets that use Waves including the Audeze Mobius and HyperX Orbit S. Everyone's ears a little different and different HRTFs work better for some than others. I'd recommend watching a tutorial on installing HeSuVi. It's a program that will let's you try out a whole bunch of different virtual surround sound HRTFs.
I know this wasn’t one of the choices, but I would highly recommend the Hyper X Cloud Orbit S. They sound amazing! They have head tracking for 3D sound. I love them.
The Cloud Orbit S, but it isn't wireless and also costs as much as the Audeze Maxwells. (in fact the Cloud Orbit S is just a rebranded Audeze Mobius headset)
Mr.caboose! Quick question, I recently bought an Audeze Maxwell for $300 on a private audio store deal. Is this a good deal or should I part out my life gr t divorce and return this thing. Also curious to your opinion on the headset. It kind of just sounds similar to my hyper orbit S except with way better build quality. The orbit S plastics all cracked and muffs all fell apart in a year
I use hyperx cloud orbit s (which are just audeze planars, but wired). I don’t play many games usually, but been playing battlefield 6 recently and holy cow, I agree.
I haven't really used a Steelseries, I've heard good thing about them but I don't use one. HyperX does sometimes do rebrands of existing headphones, like the Cloud 2 is a Takstar Pro 80 (very similar to the Beyernamic DT770 Pro) with a microphone and the Cloud Orbit is basically an Audeze Mobius without Bluetooth (the Orbit S also removes the head tracking) for less money. The Alpha and Cloud 3 are their own designs and generally also have pretty good sound quality without being expensive.
HyperX "makes" some actually decent ones, of course they aren't as good as some of the better ones from AudioTechnica, Audeze (though Audeze mobius and HyperX cloud orbits are literally the same and quite good (but overpriced)), Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic, but they offer headphones that have a decent sound profile and a really good microphone (in comparison to other headsets ofc) in an acceptable price.
Wired Hyperx, because EVERY BT buds are waking up my Deck randomly.
