Not to dismiss the fact others very definitely have problems, but I had the OG Krakens with the kitty ear attachments for \~5 or so years. They were wonderful. 10/10 experience. They still work, but the mic wasn't fabulous and the paint had chipped. I bought the 'new' Kitty Krakens and they were horrific. Very small, made of plastic, very bad sound quality, ear cups were rock solid and gave me a headache. When I went to return them (Amazon), I spotted a sealed pair of the original RGB Kitty Krakens available. Hard to find, but they were my dream and I was happy to gamble. I am smitten. Even better sound quality than the OG Krakens, very lightweight, sized correctly and very adjustable. I have no problems with this headset \~4 months in. With these in particular (the wired version) I saw a lot of complaints about audio cutting out - I'm 95% sure in at least a good chunk of these cases, it's because the headset isn't getting enough power. I experienced the same problem with my headset plugged into a USB extender with other USBs in. Swapping it over to a main port fixed the issue. Just my experience with the original range of Razer headsets - avoid the new ones at all costs!!

Have to second this about the first gen rgb kitty krakens wired. I’ve had a pair for years still good condition, great sound quality. Only reason I stopped using them is I have pretty bad chronic TMJ and wearing headphones for too long always gives me issues. The headphones themselves are heavier than most though still comfortable; but with my TMJ it causes issues faster, meaning I had to wear them less, unfortunately. I have since bought a pair of Sony WH-CH720Ns partly for helping with my Autism & ADHD when out in public but the ear cuffs also don’t sit directly on my jaw joins so that helps drastically with my TMJ issues and I can wear them a lot longer then other headphones I’ve had in the past. (They also sound great)

My first piece of gaming equipment was a pair of Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 USB headphones (the sleek Mercury white color) and I thought it was the best headphones in the world, simply because the white color looked nice, the retractable microphone was cool, it was comfortable and you saw YouTubers (pewds) wearing them with the stupid cat ears and you just had to have themFast forward a few years and I’m realizing Razer headphones were more sizzle than steak. Sure they look cool (for the most part) but the sound is nothing special. It wasn’t until I bought another set of premium gaming headphones did I realize that Razer basically markets to the average gaming consumer and banks on them not realizing what a good solid set of headphones should sound like. I bought a SteelSeries Arctis 7 wireless PC headphones and they sound a lot better than anything Razer has made. I don’t want to sound like I’m just shilling for SteelSeries but it really is true. My keyboard is a Corsair K70 MK.2 SE and my mouse is still a wireless Razer Viper Ultimate (I really like white) so I don’t have a brand I’m dedicated too. I basically just go on RTINGS dot com and buy whatever has the best ratings. My Arctis 7 headphones are still running strong and the sound is 10 times better than a Razer headset. Honestly, if Razer brought back its “Mercury White” theme, I might consider trying out a new headset but I’m just gonna go with whatever Reddit thinks is good

For mine the audio started cutting in and out with a pop noise after 6months of regular use, must have been something to do with the build quality such as a loose wire but when the audio did work it was good quality Edit: I’m talking abt the razer kraken kitty edition

I have the wired Razer Kraken Kitty's, and I love em. Great quality in terms of audio (in and out) and durability (I've definitely caught the cord on my chair and pulled em off my desk and onto the floor a couple times)

I used the wired pink Razer Kraken headphones with the ears attachment for years and was sooo happy with them - until my fat potato of a cat decided that the cable looked tasty. After that, I only had sound in one ear, and they had to be retired. I tried the Bluetooth version, but I was NOT happy with them - they were a lot tighter on the sides of my head, and the sound quality was very poor in comparison to my original pair, so they were promptly returned. So, while I guess I can’t make a recommendation for a pink set (I’m currently using the Logitech Aurora headphones and am very happy with them, but they are white and sadly lack any kitty ears options! 😭), I’m making an *anti*-recommendation and suggesting you stay away from anything Razer that uses Bluetooth. They’re just not worth it, even if they’re pretty!

I have the Razer Kraken Kitty (wired) and while I didn’t have any particular problems with the sound or the microphone, the faux leather is very low quality. It started peeling off after six months of use (more or less). The headset is not cheap, so Razer should’ve done better. I guess I am deinfluencing you with this comment, but it’s better to know what to expect 😅

Currently, I use the Razer Kraken V4. It's wireless with either 2.4 Ghz USB-C dongle or Bluetooth. it can also be used with a wired connection, which simultaneously charges it. There is a cheaper option in Razer Kraken V4X, which is a solely wired version. I've both headsets and have had no issues with either. I also quite like the Blackshark V2 Pro. The mic is noticeably better on the Blackshark vs the Krakens, in my experience. However, the mic on the Krakens I own is retractable, which is a big selling point for me. My first ever headset was the Razer Kitty Kraken. Honestly loved it to bits, especially customising the cat ears' RGB, so I can also recommend it if you want something cute. It comes in black, white and pink versions. I'm not sure if the other Razer headsets do, but I absolutely know for certain the Kitty Kraken does! In the past, I've also used Steelseries Arctis 1 and Arctis 5. Both were serviceable, but I feel as though the audio was tinny. The only reason I bring these up two up is because Razer products can be quite expensive, and Steelseries options are affordable whilst still offering similar features (wireless, wired, Bluetooth, detachable and/or retractable mic, etc...) whilst being cheaper. They are also much lighter on ear/in general compared to the Razer headsets. Hope this helps! Would love to know what you go for!

If you want it to work on both, you'll need a wired one. Xbox has its on proprietary wireless connection and the PS5 ones just use a 2.5 GHZ dongle. Both the Kraken and BlackShark come in wired versions. The Kiara might also, but I think the Kiara is the less expensive model. I found the BlackShark to be more comfortable as the Kraken is kind of heavy, but the Kraken sounds better to me.

I used razer kraken for years and was pretty happy with them, very comfy too However if you want really good audio get some seinheissers and a separate mic for chatting, non gaming headphones are way better quality and value for money, but often don't have a microphone

The setting is called 'Spatial Sound'...........use it if you want surreal audio in games and realistic channel distribution for movies and tv. But DO NOT double up on spatial surround. Most brands have their own active surround sound (5.1/7/1), if you use this AND Dolby Access..........it'll sound super wrong

Yeah the generic 'enhancement' driver is rubbish, disable ALL of those effects and just customise EITHER your Dolby Access app OR use the hardware Surround Sound 7.1 that most headsets come with. I believe if you use the Corsair ICUE app you can customise through there anyway (I bought the same headset as you for a instant replacement for when my Razer Kraken dies)

It is and I like that it operates very much the same as the Razer Kraken in that whilst the Corsair can deliver 24-Bit/96k sound (USB mode only), which is slightly better than the Razer...........you can still have 16-Bit/96k over wireless which is more than MOST people will ever need

Yeah Reddit is weird sometimes but seriously sound is a very important aspect in hunt, way more compared to other online fps. Main reason is, that a lot of sound cues gives you crucial information about your enemies - and based on that information you make decisions about movement, positioning etc. Without the valuable knowledge from the audio it’s almost as if you’d play blind. Even a set a cheap razer krakens will do the job. I personally bought the mmx 300 mostly for hunt.

I have these headphones, they hurt my ears and after an hour or so I'm constantly adjusting them to try and stop the ear pain. The sound is good enough but not nearly as good as the Razer Kraken's (R.I.P) they replaced.

Fifine H9 is an example of a headset with USB, however there are more options than it may seem. If you want USB, then search for 7.1 headphones, because they come with a dongle (with surround virtualisation). They can cost more than headsets and heaphones without it though. You can get a regular pair with a jack and add a USB dongle like for example apple dongle or Jcally JM20. If you need a mic, then Jcally JM20pro has a mic input. Apple dongle has mic input as well. The difference between Jcally and apple is the power output, which is higher for Jcally. It can make the headphones louder and also build quality is better. Apple dongle is somewhat delicate. Apple limits the output on non-apple devices. These two small dongles have very high audio quality for both headphones and the mic. There are even less expensive dongles from aliexpress and there's a lot of them, but it's hard to make sure which has a working mic. The cheapest that I found is 'Essager External USB Sound Card' for $2 on AliE. Logitech makes very lightweight and comfy headphones (ex. G432 and G335 which are now discounted), although they're also delicate and they break easily. For lightness they're hard to beat though. Well maybe JBL Quantum 100X, which is now discounted for $19. Razer Kraken is also popular for comofrt. Eksa E900pro is also this kind of comfy but chintzy model, but they have detachable cable... Maybe something like Jeecoo J70 is better although they're also not the sturdiest. Fifine H9 is better made and still lightweight. However you can also buy a mic and headphones separately. There are inline boom mics available. The benefits are that you are getting replaceable cable with a mic, so if something breaks you can just swap that one cheap thing and not the entire headset. Headsets with both the mic and the cable detachable usually cost more, but maybe you can find one. For a microphone I'd pick oneodio inline boom mic. With some discounts on aliexpress you can find it sometimes for like $8. You can also get it together with Oneodio A71d headset. If you want a noise canceling mic, then go for V-moda boom pro X. Comfort is subjective and some headphones clamp your head strong when they're new, but they stretch over time. You can also help them stretch faster if they have metal headband. I'm just saying in case you get something that may squeeze you. We all have different heads and some headphones are made to accomodate many people and they have that initial clamp. The plasticky headphones that sit softly, get very loose over time and they fall off your head, so you may want some clamp and some metal in the headband, so that they hold on to your head. Now you can pick some headphones like Fifine H8, t.bone, ISK, DNA, or anything else with a jack. Later you can find some nice earpads for them. You can find some big ones made of velour or linen. Pleather is used for headphones to have more bass and isolate your from expternal noise, but it also makes your ears sweaty in the summer. That's why I think it's better to buy cheap headphones and invest in nice, plushy earpads. You can wash them, ideally every couple of months, and they'll serve you well for longer than pleather earpads, that fall apart after a year.
