Sony / PlayStation - Pulse 3D Wireless Headset

The regular pulse 3d headphones are cheap and are really good for the price point. If you plan on getting a portal then the newer elite headphones would fit better. I use my pulse headphones wired to the portal and really don’t mind the wire at all.

I used the original Playstation Pulse for the last couple years and they were awesome for Siege. Felt like I could hear footsteps and knew exactly where they were coming from. They were starting to breakdown a bit and decided it was time for a new pair. Curiosity got to me and I ended up buying the Steelseries Arctis 7p's which I heard were top notch. You have to download software to get these dialed in to be able to hear what you want to hear. Been a bit of a pain in the ass. Kind of wish I would have just gone with the Playstation Pulse Elites. Grass isn't always greener! If anyone else is using the 7p's and has a good EQ setting for Siege, please let me know!

I use the Sony pulse 3d on my pc, my wife uses the same (but her own) on the ps5, we both have zero complaints - not super expensive and backed by Sony

For PS5, the Pulse and Pulse Elite. Made specifically for that system and has great 3D audio. They’re great for pinpointing the exact location of footsteps.

Still using maxwells? I had them shortly, loved the sound and returned them because my pulse 3d is so much lighter and comfortable. maxwells had that amazing rumbling sub bass but it was making me hear my own heartbeat due to clamping

Sound is good but a bit bass light. As for comfort, I preferred pulse 3d. it was lighter, clamped less and didn't seal as much as elites. Elites makes me hear my own heartbeat

True. Elites are more fragile due to being planar and pulse 3d, all I had to do after 4 years was replace earpads

I agree but I can't find headphones that don't give me a headache after about 40 minutes. Gave my ps5 pulse ones to my girl and bought a steelseries to see if it would be better but it's not unfortunately.

I’m not sure how broad of a use case this is, but this is what I do. I have the original Pulse headset. It’s been plugged into my PS5 via dongle ever since I got it. When I’m streaming on my Portal in my house, which is literally the only place I ever use it, the Pulse headset still works just fine. No need to plug anything else in to the Portal or anything. The audio just streams from the PS5 itself while I’m controlling everything from the Portal. I’d imagine that any Bluetooth headset that connects to the PS5 via USB dongle would work exactly the same. It’s how I’ve gotten around buying new equipment while also using a wireless headset around the house.

Understood. I’m a gigging drummer, and I also have tinnitus and hearing loss, so I definitely get that. I personally never found that the over ear Pulse headset was particularly loud for me when the volume is turned down, but I don’t know what your situation is like. I more just threw it out there for the people that might already have the equipment lying around to be able to play with a wireless headset/earbuds and don’t want to spend $200 extra dollars to buy something they may not actually need.

I avoided them for years bc I thought they would be useless for me. I gave in and bought the wireless xbox headset for my series x out of curiosity and I loved it so much that I ended up buying the 3d pulse for ps5. Thought they were pretty cheap sounding/feeling, so I went with steelseries p7+ and they've been great. Xbox cans are my favorite bc they have a good amount of low end and the dials are so easy to use. I also bought the starfield variant as a backup. I have a fully discreet atmos setup that set me back a few grand, but sometimes the closeness of the cans are better bc they can be more immersive.

I just use the ps5 pulse 3d wireless headset. I charge the thing in the menus and haven’t had the think ever run out on me

No way, my 3D pulses sound like 7/11 ear buds compared to the elites. Granted… I think my pulses were bunk from the beginning, maybe defective, and so quiet. The Elites are amazing.

I was so excited to get these at Christmas time but the mute button right on the mic blows and they hurt my ears so I have already gone back to my pulse 3ds.

I have just acquired the sony pulse 3d headphones, and wow, what headphones they are, the sound is brilliant from them, so crisp and clear.

You haven't missed much! The Pulse 3D is as good as this one, more durable according people I know.

I can't wear my 3ds for more than hour without feeling like my head shrunk sideways lol

But do they utilise the mute button on the controller? I bought the ps pulse headset when the ps5 first came out and I couldn't believe they overlooked this feature.

For me they are exceptional. Been mentioned on other threads possibly but I bought some 3rd party foam earbuds and they dramatically helped with both sound quality and noise cancellation. I love them with my portal out and about and also for music. Funnily enough I do use the original pulse headset in the house as someone mentioned

Ps5 pulse suck ass , your gunna sound like you have an echo. I just switched to IEMs and im extremely happy, plus my ears dont get hot

It's literally just soundstage and imaging. There's no such a thing as a "3D audio headphone.". There are headphones with good soundstage and imaging and poor soundstage and imaging. The irony? All the headphones that are marketed with "3D audio" like the Sony pulse 3D are actually pretty garbage when it comes to soundstage, although they do have decent imaging. Except for the Pulse Elite, that one is garbage on both ends. Just do yourself a favor and don't buy gaming headphones.

I do this with mine but for some reason I get sound thre my pulse but my mic doesn't go threw the headset and wants to go threw the portal mic instead and causes some problems with people trying to hear me.

Just upgraded from the Sony Pulse to the HS80; 75 bucks refurbished from Corsair. Definitely a lot better than the Pulse but still a bit too much clamp force on my big head. I am also replacing the fabric ear cups with cooling gel fake leather because the fabric gets hot.
