I bought the Pulse 3D at the same time as the first PS5. I love it so much that I still use it on the Pro, and if I were to replace it, I would definitely get its successor, the Pulse Elite.
I have used the Sony pulse 3D and the Sony pro 3D ( the pros for about 2 weeks LOL). Both over ear headphones. My pulse 3d’s broke from repeated use after roughly 4.75 years. They might have been initially damaged by one of my dogs when she also destroyed the ear pads ($15 ish to replace) and then they just keep cracking more and more until they broke completely. I don’t play games where a 0.2 second (or whatever) lag is even noticeable to me much less is it important to me. There is going to be lag with wireless headphones there is no avoiding that. Even the best wireless gaming headsets are still going to have lag. So the question becomes how much lag is too much for you vs the inconvenience of a cord. Most pro gamers use corded headsets for a reason. But I think for the vast majority of regular users wireless headphones are fine. Like I said I’ve never noticed any lag with the Sonys but I’m 57 and I don’t play online games or (as I said earlier) games where a bit of lag is even a problem — I don’t have the reaction time to play those kinds of games LOL. The regular pulse 3D vs the pros . . . the pros are better especially for battery life. I think I’ve charged them once in the 10-14 days I’ve been using them (roughly 3-4 hours a day). The pros absolutely sound a little better and are a little more comfortable — the regular pulses I had to charge every 2nd or 4th day. Street price for the regular vs the pros . . . the pros are about double the price. I can’t say that they are clearly worth the extra cost for everyone — however with the experiences you (the OP) are talking about the battery life alone probably makes it worth the extra expense (roughly $150 vs $75). I also have a pair of “Fanmusic TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero:RED” wired earbuds for my Portal which are about 1/3rd the price ($50) of the Sony pulse pros. They sound really good for $50 earbuds . . . but they are not as good as the Pulse’s pros but sound quality they are pretty similar to the regular pulses. For me the 3D effect of the pulses is super important. I can absolutely tell above, below, front, back, right, left no problem with either set of Pulses. For **me** that’s great (I like games where I can play stealthy for example) it’s absolutely the number one feature for me. I don’t get that **at all** with the wired earbuds. Right and left is all. So personally I’d recommend a set that is capable of 3D more than I’d look at wired vs wireless but that’s me.
i have the original ps5 headphones, pulse elite earbuds(uncomfortable as fuck) and the arctis earbuds ( my favorite so far)
Pulse Elites and best bang for the buck, H9 IIs are a major step up in build quality and offer ANC, I have both, almost never touch the Elites anymore, although it is a great set, especially for the price.
I have been using the original H9s but recently got the Pulse Elite for a second time and the first time I had it there were major disconnect issues. I read this has been fixed with a patch to the dongle and the headset itself and after one week I have had no issues! I wish there was a more modern higher end set that supported chat/game but this will do for now.
The PS5 Elite Headset in the 1st Pic was fine until the plastic headband broke. And it took only a few month. If you have a big head be careful.
Mine just broke last month - exactly the same failure point After looking through Reddit recommendations, I picked the Arctis Nova 7P and absolutely love it! It's so much better than the PS5 headset - much more comfortable and heavy duty IMO
The headband and support is made of metal inlayed with a hard plastic on the sides. It's much more customizable to fit your head too: The blue fabric head support has adjustable connectors, and both the left/right ear phone poles can slide in and out - so unlike the PlayStation version, you can actually fit this to your noggin. Also, the mic can slide in and out too - so if you want to (or don't care to chat online) you can move it and hide it inside the headset https://preview.redd.it/vwec4bvt5v8g1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=a5bbd35b5244b4f95d5ec38a473c16cb97c9c16d
True. I'm extremely careful with my headset, always place it on a hanger when not using it ,and never thought it would happen to me... but it did. I now understand how flimsy they are.
