My impressions are pretty similar. Stock tips are unusable, they are too short. With just about any other tips, these are solid gaming earbuds. I think they are priced a bit high because they are not practical for use beyond gaming. No noise canceling, the case is enormous, and they look fairly ridiculous when you are wearing them. I picked up a cheap pair for my Portal and don’t regret it, though I probably wouldn’t have got them if it supported any other wireless buds, I’d have got something more generally usable.
Also paging u/retrogiant1 and u/MythBuster2 for the purposs of discussion. I own the explore earbuds and the portal and the PSVR2 They are good quality/sound good, work great with the portal. Work fantastic with PSVR2. The bad/negative things that really ruin it for me is that the earbuds’s stock thermoplastic eartips fail to make a good seal within the ears. More specifically for me my right ear. Don't know why that specific ear but the right earbud is constantly turning/moving around and nearly falling out and need readjusting. The second thing that really kills me is that sometimes they just stop working. And the only way to fix the problem is you press the sync button on the case till it starts flashing blue, then press and hold it again till it starts flashing again, take finger off button, then press and hold for 10 seconds. Then take finger off the button and the LED should start flashing red, which signifies that the stored connections have been deleted. Then you just repair/resync the case/earbuds to the device. That stop working problem occurs from what I can tell when using the portal and IOS device together. You need to delete stored settings on the case. Then delete stored settings on the IOS device. Then restart the PS5. Then reconnect the case/earbuds to the device. I got the OG PS5 model and forget using the front USB for the shitty PS link dongle. It just stops working, disconnecting due to interference, so with the OG PS5 model the back USB port is key. As for the PS portal, its an great little device, if you have an good modem/router and have rudimentary networking skills. I don't know why but PS remote play works better, looks better, more sharp, less grainy on the portal. Then compared to remote play on another device even if the device screen is worse or better then the portal. But the portal and explore work flawlessly together compared to the PS link dongle and PS5. The instructions for deleting the dongle are hard to understand. But you got to get your hands, wrap around the dongle, while squeezing and pushing the dongle in for 5/6 seconds, let go, do it again, then do it again for 15 seconds.
I have Audeze Maxwells, but the weight of it over time exhausted me. I now run Pulse Explore’s and they’re really good and 3D audio is really good for ear buds and also super lightweight.
Got both the Pulse 3D and Pulse Elite, plus the Pulse Explore buds. Worth every penny for each, but for different reasons and with caveats. Pulse 3D is solid, but doesn't support pairing with your smartphone or interact with PS Link stuff. Pulse Elite is amazing except for the weak sides, which break very easily. Fortunately there are 3D-print fixes for it. It also disconnects sometimes but reconnects really fast, allows you to get a fair distance away from the console without disconnecting, and has noise filtering. Pulse Explore is amazing for everyday stuff while still being able to be used on the PS if needed. It does disconnect a lot more from the console if you aren't fairly close and if your head moves a fair bit, which is annoying. Somehow they are much more stable with my phone than the console.
Tbh if its immersion, I love the playstation pulse earbuds. They feel comfortable and the sound is great for me. Outside of that. Can't go wrong with a pair of corsair virtuoso max's, they are super comfy. https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/gaming-headsets/ca-9011372-ww/virtuoso-max-wireless-gaming-headset-carbon-ca-9011372-ww
