Hoping for some advice as I’m at a loss. I’m looking for some closed back wired headphones with attached mic that can fit a very small head. I’ve been using the Fiio FT1s but the smallest band setting is still too big for me. I also need some amount of noise muffling - I share an office with my partner so would like to muffle external sound. Ideally not active noise cancellation. I found the Fiio FT1s to be basically useless at this, I can hear everything through them. I’ve tried the Audeze LCD-S20s and the noise muffling is fantastic, but the weight and clamping is very uncomfortable - I wear glasses, and these make the arms of my glasses dig in to my head very painfully. I can only wear them for an hour or so before I have to stop. I found the Steelseries Arctis 7 (2019) to be a great, comfortable headset with a nice amount of noise muffling, but have had nothing but issues with recent Steelseries sets. In terms of comfort and quality, I don’t think I’ve has anything close to this since. Whilst I’ve been using the Fiios and the Audeze with a separate mic, I would really prefer a built in option. The Meze boom mic is fine, but it picks up everything in the room, and since I share the space, really isn’t practical. I’m not overly fussed on mic quality, its just for playing with mates. I’m only looking for wired options, had too many issues with wireless in the past. Budget is up to $400 AUD for something fantastic, though I would prefer to spend around $200 AUD if possible. I’m in Australia, so limited to what’s available either here or on Amazon.
I’m using my Nova 5’s on my second playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 and they are great! I got them for around $130 and apparently the mic is rated better than the top end SS headsets. I played around with the eq preset and got right one for me I can literally hear everything not to mention the battery is 🔥 I’ve had these for a month and charged them once. Before these I had Arctis 7 from 2019 so they lasted me a long time would’ve kept them if the age didn’t start showing.
I have the original Arctis 7s from 2018, not sure how their quality is now but maybe worth checking them out. They have a steel frame and easily replaceable ear cups which I only replaced once recently. I haven’t exactly been nice to them, they’ve fallen off my desk plenty of times and I chuck them to the side when I’m done using my pc. My mute button is just now starting to have issues with not actually staying depressed after I press it in.
i just got Sennheiser HD490 Pro and they are the best headphones i have tested. I also had arctis 7, superlux and Beyerdynamic DT990 and they are all fall behind in terms of quality, spatiality and immersion. If you want premium headphones go for Sennheiser.
I’ve had arctics 7 for 5 years but recently the ear piece started to break and eventually they were beyond repair. They were the best headphones I’ve ever had so I bought an exact same piece. The audio in left year broke after 1 month. I switched them to new ones thanks to warranty but those broke again within a month. I exchanged them again on a warranty and so far it’s been good for 3 months. Take it as you will. Just sharing my experience
