I recommend getting non gamer oriented headphones, and if possible sticking with wired. The Beyerdynamic DT 990/770's are incredible. You can find them new at about $180 and sometimes in like new conditions on amazom for about $150. If you want to stay wireless, the Steelseries Arctis Nova 5 Wireless is currently on sale on [Amazon](https://a.co/d/gS1wgEo) it beats way above its weight class for a gaming oriented headset. It has amazing battery life, crazy far connectivity, and is super comfortable. It is a bit heavy in bass so keep that in mind. Hope you find a good headset!
I've been happy with the [SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D2YBQQ1P?th=1). ($110.99) I use them for gaming, watching stuff (YouTube, streaming, shows, movies, etc.) and taking the occasional call. Sound quality is pretty good. I'm no audiophile, but I have never had any issues. The Spatial Audio is amazing. Hearing things behind you and above is very immersive. (even in movies) It uses a 2.4GHz USB C dongle with decent range. I can easily walk around my 2 room 500sq/ft apartment without dropping. The mic is built-in and just slides out. Never had any complaints about mic quality. Volume slider/disk on headset allows for quick volume adjustment. You can answer the phone with press of a button. You can also pause video with a press of another button. I use this all the time. Charge lasts about a week using them about 6 hours a day. Also charges really quickly. They have a soft band that runs across the top so they are not sitting directly on your skull. Other headphones I've used sometimes gave me headaches with prolonged use. Earpads are cloth so they will absorb moisture if you are a super sweater, but the breathable AirWeave material has better airflow than previous headphones. I am in my 50s and my ears are bigger... so my ears barely fit in the earholes.
I find the 3p detachable mic to be so intrusive id settle for the nova 5 honestly could go for 2 days straight heavy use (im talking like 48 hours battery life speaking from experience) without charging and you barely notice the mic it has and the mics great too has an option for 2.4 and bluetooth pairing too. Little to no downsides but ye steelseries has been a solid brand for me i had a arctis 3 that lasted me for 6 years just replacing the wires it needs until the mic finally gabe out
I bought it a month ago and here are the pros: - Great sound quality which is heavily customizable with the SteelSeries GG app - Can connect to one device with the USB dongle and another with Bluetooth at the same time - Good quality build. Seems sturdy. - I like the retractable mic. It also has this feature where it plays your voice back to you. This removes that whole complete sound isolation issue where you don't know how loud you're talking because you can't hear your own voice. Cons - Although GG app allows customization, it creates multiple sound profiles on Windows which is a pain to organize for all the different programs you may use. - I struggle to get it connected wirelessly after it disconnects. - it's less comfortable than my older hyper x cloud 2. Starts hurting my ears after an extended period of time.
I think it might have to do with it creating multiple sound profiles. I click the button and the green light turns on, I can see sounds playing on screen (like a youtube video) but no sound comes out of the headphones. I then need to close the headphone, long press the power button until it turns green again, then it connects. Its not a pairing issue as I've paired it but just cumbersome I have to do this every time. And the online guide/user guide isn't helpful either. Maybe I have a defective unit as I don't see other people have this problem.
I have a steel series arctis nova 5 and it works great for me
I got the arctis nova5 from jbhifi on sale... turns out the nova7 were cheaper direct from arctis then what i paid for the nova5 but they are awesome for directional sound
