SteelSeries - Arctis Nova 5X Wireless

Ever go on over to /r/steelseries and see all the pics of the headsets all failing in the exact same spot? The headband does literally nothing to alleviate the force on the plastic earcup ...

Same. They were super comfortable but the connection was awful. I returned them almost Immediately

I bought the Arctis Nova 5x a few weeks ago and love it. It's extremely comfortable, even with a big head, the sound quality is decent out of the box but much better with tweaked EQ and the Sonar software works well with custom game profiles. The main downside is the mic, it's just okay, my friends instantly noticed I sounded worse and I had a ton of issues on Discord because their AI was conflicting with the Sonar AI, after turning it off in Discord it worked much better, I hope Discord/Steelseries can get it certified soon, so new users can avoid the issues I ran into. I came from a Razer Blackshark V2 Pro which is more expensive and I much prefer the AN5X, apart from the mic, the mic on the Razer was incredible. I would have happily paid an extra £20 for the AN5X if it had a better mic.

The 7x or 5x will have better sound quality but less battery and aren’t built to survive a nuclear explosion like the hyperx headset but I personally don’t think the build quality is much of an issue

I've been in the same position as you OP and I ended up getting the Arctis Nova 5X and I've been absolutely loving it.

I was debating whether to get these for my new series x, but ultimately I chose the steelseries arctis nova 5x, mainly for the cloth earcups since I can’t stand leather or pleather earcups, they make my ears sweat so fast. Also 3 times more battery life. But, not being able to simultaneously be connected to two separate audio sources, but I doubt I’ll miss that since the xbox supports discord calls anyway, so I can talk with friends on other platforms. But anyhow, I’ve also had wired steelseries headsets in the past and been happy with them, so that pushed me also to them.

It’s really up to you. I myself used just the tv for years. This year I do actually online game so I did chose to get a nice wireless headset. I went with the steelseries arctis 5x and are perfect. They’re meant for the Xbox but can connect to a PlayStation no issues and they feel perfect.

The steelseries are light weight have noise cancelling and support Dolby atmos. Also the microphone is hidden on the steelseries which I find to be a plus it’s there if needed or not.

Definitely the Steelseries Arctis Nova 5X - Has most of the same technology as in the AU$735 flagship Arctis Nova Pro but at a much lower price. It works on all devices and use 2.4GHz connection at the same time as Bluetooth, so you can be on call with someone on your phone at the same time you’re gaming. The headset isn’t bulky at all and is quite pleasing, it includes a very nice pull out mic too. But I’d like to add, if you have the extra dollars then by all means, the battery swapping that the Nova Pro has is a pretty solid feature. Edit: I’m talking about the wireless versions

I like that Steelseries 5X headset has multiple EQs lightweight. Alienware headset is a nice one I really think the open back Atlas Air from TurtleBeach is a sleeper man I like that one. Are you playing solo or friends? IEMs are a crazy good budget pick $50 gets you great audio. Tell you what watch Gadgetry Tech on YouTube and get an idea of the idea headset and watch his review every headset (35+) I've waited till he reviewed and gave me a custom eq for FPS Music and SP to start with and you can hmu if you need an extra opinion on top of his.Rog Delta II another one i enjoy 

Ok so…………..I fell down a rabbit hole lmao. My 2’s got delayed so I ordered some 3’s just to try them & ngl the 3’s really do lack bass but the overall fit of them feels a lot better than the 2s (mine are the HP). So….i ended up returning both & picking up the Arctis Nova 5X. It’s a lil more pricey but they sound waaaaaay better than either of those 2 & are almost as comfy as the 3s so overall I’m happy 😅

For a Logitech headset look at the: - G435 - G535 - G Pro X wired or wireless (version 1, not 2) Other gaming headsets include: - JBL Quantum One - Sennheiser Game One - HyperX Cloud III - Razer Barracuda - SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5X or 7X - Turtle Beach Atlas Air. The tradeoff on all of this are the same: buggy apps, poor audio/mic quality and/or poor longevity. If you want a better experience I suggest getting a USB mic like the JLab Talk and pair it with audiophile headphones like: - Philips Fidelio X2HR - Sennheiser HD 560S - Philips SHP9500 - Sennheiser HD 599

I just bought the Steelseries Nova 5x, it’s on sale on Amazon. Good headset. I’m someone who doesn’t use a headset unless I’m playing with others and wanna talk. But I think a headset is great to have, honestly a must if you’re a real gamer. Doesnt mean u need to use it all the time, but having one is always a goos idea.

I have the SS Arctis Nova 5X for my PS5 PRO and they are fantastic! Mic is great and the companion app for iPhone is great too Not that cheap but Best bang for buck headset out there.

I mean - good features and if you happen to be in the lucky portion of the population - you'll get a product like all the people replying saying "I've had a great experience!" - They haven't had to deal with the complete-lack-of-customer-service. So... in truth, the 'experience' is "I happened to get a headset that didn't have any issues." The moment you have to ask them for help... they won't. Their only solution is "Well, if it's under warranty, we can replace the whole thing once you send us back the old one" - but that's it. No advice, no replacement parts, not even 'here's where you can buy replacement parts'. Noooo help. And if your warranty is over/finished (liiike... you live in North America, so you don't get the two-year warranty, only the one year)? Their response is, to sum up: "Well, that's too bad. Bye." So. Yeah, if you happen to get a good one, well, lucky you!

That's odd I didn't have any issues pairing with the Xbox or my phone they've been amazing. I had the 9x and the 7x+ before this and these were better than both I feel

2.4 ghz. 🤮 Why can't they use 5ghz or Xbox's direct connection. 2.4ghz is suspect to so much interference. Hello steel series fanboy that I have offended. I was all game until I seen 2.4ghz. I have so much issues with 2.4ghz between wifi signals, my room being right behind a Microwave. My Xbox + tv is no more than 5 feet away line of sight and my turtle beach which also uses a 2.4ghz transmitter and I have so many connection issues with it.

Everything else wifi, I have a Amazon Eero mesh network setup. If it was the wifi 5e than yeah, I'd seperate the 2 bands. But, wifi 6. I'd prefer to not seperate the bands if I can help it and reconnect every device in the house (every one else in the household is technology illiterate. I'm a work smarter not harder). So far, I don't get complaints unless the Eeros are offload due to updating which I have set them auto update at 4am to 5am.

Steal series arctis 5x 50 hours battery life, charging them up once a week is nice compared to the original Xbox headset charging it every 6 hours

I have such a hard time with the pairing on these things. It seems extremely buggy. But my god do they sound great when they DO work.

Oh no it pairs with the Xbox (and PS5) great. It's all the other bluetooth devices that give me hell.

The 7x can connect to 2 devices at the same time (better if you want to watch YouTube or call someone while gaming) the 7x is a bit heavier because it has a rolled steel ski band. More durable, less comfortable.

Hey I'm so sorry but I have to ask. What headsets would anyone recommend with huge heads. I got the arctis Nova and stealth gen 3 700 and both hurt my head bigtime. Use Sony XM5s currently.

Wireless the way to go. I have a wired Razer Kraken 3 which has good sound and comfort but not so much a quality build. Headband snapped, wire wore out, pleather wearing out. Good thing I got it as a gift. +1 for any Steel Series Arctis wireless as well. I ended up buying cheap $30 wireless from Amazon which works fine but not the same as a headset that has software to go with it. Even with Razer Kraken, the sound quality is better if you have a Dolby Atmos license (~$10?) for the virtual surround sound enhancements vs the Windows Sonic which is built into Windows.

I would avoid Arctis Nova, as other people already said they don't last very long, go for HyperX-Cloud-Alpha, the metal beam is not going to break on you and they sound great!

I got on on release and work and sounds good, though I had to replace the padded ear cuffs as the old one wore out with how much I wore them. Got it synced to my PC with the Microsoft XBox Wireless Adapter and my Switch using Bluetooth and can do both at the same time. I didnt like it synced to my XBox One here as every time I turned it on for anything it also turned my Xbox on as well.

I’ve had my steelseries nova 5 for about 7 months. The usb doesn’t work anymore. It just makes a nonstop sound screeching sounds whenever a sound it played through them. That happened within the first month of having them. I’ve been using the Bluetooth bc it still sounds amazing. For the last two months, the quality drops sooo much randomly. It also likes to randomly make all the sounds seem very far away. I’ve tried to figure out how to fix it and haven’t been able to. I do not recommend this one in particular. I’ve heard a lot of people have the same problems as I do. My bf has the pro and it seems to be amazing. If you’re going with steelseries, just save for the pro

If you are looking at the Arctis Nova 7, consider the Arctis Nova 5 instead. Contra-intuitively, it is more recent, cheaper and you trade some potentially useless features of the Arctis 7 (such as simultaneous BT and Wifi) for much longer battery life and a companion mobile app that you can use to manage sound profiles, including pre-built for popular games.

It's kinda meh for me. I can dodo like the built in eq for games. It's kinda makes me have superpowers in CoD. I can hear footsteps across the map.

Yea SS is kinda overpriced for what it is. But it's also plug and play and easy to hook up to a PS, Switch, PC, or phone. I've had no issues with the headphones, but the keyboard I got is absolute crap. They marketed it as mechanical, but it's a clicky button that hits a membrane. Only took one year to die because the mechanical part broke the membrane. I won't be buying any steel series only because of the false advertisement from that. I love these headphones but there are other options since I only use them on my PC 90% of the time.

If music is a bit of a primary focus I'd say go Maxwell, if you know how to EQ and want to use Sonar. Then Nova do get good quality sound.

Are you still enjoying them as much? How fast do they recharge if they run out? I use my headphones quite a bit and one of the best things I find with the arctis novas is I can just fast swap the battery, but I'd love having a smaller (and portable) solution in general.

I use a steelseries arctics nova. I got it fairly recently (like a month ago) and i can hear the smallest of sounds when I play pretty darn well. It's also fairly lite weight and has a long battery life.

No problem! I ended up getting (and keeping) Arctis nova 5 wireless. They sound *alright* but they're comfortable enough and wireless is great, so I just ended up keeping them. I'm looking a bit into the Sennheiser PC38X that you're getting recommended a lot in this thread. They look great! although wireless is almost too sweet to pass up

Eh, as someone that's been using headphones with a standalone mic for years: just grab a mediocre gaming headset if you don't want hassle. A desktop microphone can be annoying to setup (mine is Scarlet Solo + AT-2035) and typically hang out in your peripheral vision. Bluetooth headphones have noticeable latency that disorient me. So I've been using wired headphones with an Antlion ModMic (wireless) attached. Works, but honestly I hate cables. Been waiting for years for a decent 2.4GHz set of non-gaming headphones but no one wants to make them. Finally caved a couple days ago on a SteelSeries Nova 5. Yeah it's worse than my old setup but completely useable and I still have my old setup if I ever want to go audiophile for something. It's not a big deal.
