Had Astro a50’s for years and years and swore by them. Got these and they have way better audio quality, better features etc. the kids and highs are so crispy and clean you can hear tiny details that I never heard on the Astro’s. Since they are closed back the sound stage isn’t mind blowing but it works well and you still get great depth

Astro A50s, used to use them on my PS4 too and they’re still amazing. There’s an updated Gen 5 of them now too. They’re also much more comfortable than any steelseries headset for me

I don't think rog delta 2 comes close to A50 Gen 5. You can tune your A50 Gen 5 to sound even better through GHUB application.

Thing is everything given as “gaming device” usually sucks and is made out of cheap materials, nobody really talks about the rog delta other than sponsored videos, while the astro a50 and the brand per se is well known since years and have gained many royal customers. Unless you are going for an all rog setup you are better off going for the a50 in my opinion.

Eh. I ended up with the Arctis and not bad. Still miss my Astros but more control and better audio with Arctis. Mic quality on my end is kinda ass and it sometimes disconnects when I first turn the PS5 on.

I am new to PS switch from XB and I brought over ny Astro A50s to PS, didn't like the performance on PS so I bought Steelseries Arctic Wireless Pro and Pulse Elites. I would return the pulse elites but scracthed them changing out cushions. The Steelseries I really like even better than what the A50s were for me on XB.

I recently bought the A50 gen 5 expecting to be the same as my Astro A40 but wireless and I was so disappointed. First, the A40s are open back, and the 50s are closed (semi open) so you’ll immediately hear a different sound overall. Very closed in comparison. Second, the A50s have no way of wiring em, so you’ll only be able to use Dolby atmos which in my opinion is garbage compared to the Dolby sound that’s integrated in the mix amp. I returned the A50s and had to go deep into the rabbit hole of audiophiles to really understand what I wanted. I ended up buying the Hifiman edition XS for that open sound and the antlion usb 2 mic. I use the same mix amp pro with the same Dolby sound because I can’t stand the Dolby atmos. So my overall tip is don’t expect the a50s to sound like the a40s. At least buy an open back for a similar sound.

Hard disagree. I went from A50’s to the Novas and I’ll never go back.

I use wireless for work since I like walking around, however the Scapes Mic is a lot better than the Maxwell's. Of course the Astro has the best mic out of the three, at least for a wireless headset. I personally use a Rode NT1A for my desktop microphone, so yeah.

First of all, thank you for posting here and for being willing to help and provide answers. My journey has unfortunately been quite challenging, and any support you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I used the Nova Pro Wireless for two full years. I disliked the microphone but loved the battery system (similar to what I have with my Shark vacuum and Ring doorbell, haha), as well as the transparency mode(used to have it on like almost maxed out), since I need to be aware of my surroundings-taking care of mom. I also appreciated the ability to connect via both Bluetooth and the dongle simultaneously. Then, I bought a used Maxwell because it was very affordable and used it for about nine months. However, the microphone was almost as poor as the Nova's, and it didn’t support simultaneous Bluetooth connections. Half a year ago, I purchased the A50 Gen 5, but I still miss the Nova Pro Wireless because of its excellent battery system, transparency mode, and the ability to mix Bluetooth and dongle connections at the same time. Currently, I’ve returned to using the Maxwell due to the capability to have the earcup's microphones to act as a transparency mode with sidetone functionality on a very sensitive level (currently on 80%) I even tried the SteelSeries Gamebuds, which also feature transparency mode and sidetone, but unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience with them as they feel unbaked I would be super grateful if you could do a side-by-side transparency-mode test of the new Elite headset versus the Maxwell on 70-80% sidetone to see which one is 'better' and louder. I find the Audeze Maxwell to be quite little too sensitive, but I like how loud it does it so it can get just as loud as watching a youtube vid in normal volume. Astro A50X the guy above me was referring to i personally didnt like them. The nova pros where not bad but ive moved to the audeze maxwell now I lost dual audio but the sound is amazing.

Yea I seen someone shared a image about that awhile back but wonder if they really changed anything. Yea I had the A50X and hated the smaller cup and feel and the Bluetooth setup was really dumb lol.

I had the a30s for years until the usb dongle that connects to your console or pc stopped working. Was pondering whether I should buy the new USB or a new headset. I bought the a50s and am very happy with it. Only difference to them that I wasn't the hugest fan of were the a50s aren't noise canceling, the a30s are. But the a50s are so much more comfortable so im happy

They use planar magnetic drivers which give insane detail and bass. They have multiple custom eqs and a good mic. Used them for cyberpunk and it was epic haha. These days surround is done software side for the most part so headphones don’t really include 7.1 anymore. I bet I know the headphones your dads friend had I had them they are white and called turtle beach x41 I had them in like 2010 they were soooo cool for their time. The closest you would get to that would be some gen 4 or earlier Astro a50 or something with an optical input so it can decode 7.1. But if you play on console you’d need a monitor or tv with optical output and 7.1 passthrough. The newer consoles have surround on them right out the controller so they got rid of the optical.

If those are your only option I'd take either the Cloud Alpha or G Pro X, probably the Alpha as it is really comfortable. As other's have said though, none of these are particularly good. Unlike what others have said, there are good gamer brand headsets out there like the LucidSound LS50x, Logitech G Pro X 2, Astro A50, a few EPOS models. They're just generally overpriced. Like the G Pro X 2 is a really good $100 headphone with a $20 mic selling for $250. The LucidSounds are a bit pricy new but very cheap on the used market. The LS50x or the little brother LS35x can be found used for under $60 and $40 respectively and will beat anything on your list. Sennheiser Game One's can be found for under $60 and are another step higher, they're the headset version of the HD 598. In general, you can almost always buy a new headphone of equal or better quality + a desktop mic for a lot less money than a new headset. The main exception is the Audeze Maxwell which is frankly way better than standalone wireless headphones at its price. The PC38x is also competitively priced on sale, it's right between the HD 599 and HD 560S in quality.

If you want to stay using wired, I would actually recommend the Steelseries nova pro wired. They have great sound stock but also great with wicked cushions. Prior to switching to the nova pro’s I was using a pair of a40tr’s with amp. If you want to jump to wireless you can’t go wrong with the a50’s I recently switch from the nova pro wired to a50x and love the sound and mic quality. For an out of the box suggestion, A good pair of IEM’s for when you don’t want the weight of a headset on your head. Personally I use the Simgot Supermix 4. If you’re on console these are great if you don’t need a mic otherwise you’ll need a USB MIC to go along with it.

Get the Astro A50 Gen 5. Easily the best gaming headset available right now. Amazing sound, with great bass (which is crucial for watching films), very comfortable, and the best headset microphone in the market right now.

I vote astros. Most comfortable headset, can wear it for 9-12 hours without it bothering me. Mine are 11 years old and still working at peak performance. Used to use em on 360 and they rolled out software updates so you could use them with the next gen consoles.

I got the Astro A50 Gen 5 for 180$ brand new, I gotta say, Idk how I feel about them. The audio is decent but I feel like other headsets sound better, maybe because I swapped the ear pads for some leather ones (which changed the sound profile a ton)

To the average casual gamer $600 is a steep price. But if gaming is your main hobby that you do every single day for hours on end and if you game on all three systems then yes, $600 is worth it. This is an endgame headset that will last you multiple console generations. Headsets like Artis Nova Elites and the Astro A50x aren’t meant for everyone. They are for gaming enthusiast who want the best equipment possible.

I've had my fair share of both bad and 'great' wireless headsets for gaming over the past few years, so I switched back to a wired headset and have been using the DT900 Pro X since October. However, I really wanted to return to a wireless option, so I bought an Astro A50X. The sound quality is great, the base station functionalities are impressive, and most importantly, the mic quality is perfect. Unfortunately, I received a defective unit and the replacement also turned out to be defective (a buzzing noise in a $400 headset makes me hope it's just a faulty unit...). So here's my question: What would be the best wireless headset for gaming money can buy? I'm looking for a headset that has at least a day of battery life, more than decent mic quality (since wireless headsets and their mics can be problematic), a base station for charging would be great, obviously good sound quality, and reliable software that doesn’t frequently bug out, among other features Please, if anyone has any great recommendations, I beg you, share them. I can't stand having a wireless headset that costs so much yet delivers so little!

I hope their next release will have a better microphone quality as it is the only thing keeping me from buying it unfortunately...

And that’s why I bought the Astro A50X. I've been impressed by the mic quality, even though I know Bluetooth has its limitations. It was disappointing to have to turn back to 'gaming' peripherals after switching my entire setup to brand-specific products, but that’s how this headset was advertised, and it stands out for its mic quality

Most headsets have a weakness or two, for the maxwells it’s the weight and fragility and for the Astros it’s the Bluetooth and the ear cup size and that they leak sound a bit. Overall the two are pretty well matched with Astros having a nod towards the comfort and Maxwells a nod towards overall sound quality. I’ve owned both and really liked both, but for different reasons!

The HD6XX requires a decent amplifier, it’s also not intended for or great at positional accuracy (footstep tracking). It’s great at many things but definitely not even in my top 10 if competitive gaming is my use case. I’d recommend you try the Audeze Maxwell, Astro A50 or the Arctis Nova Pro if competitive gaming is the priority.

Headsets I've owned or do currently own: Arctis Nova Pro Wireless JBL Quantum One (NOT WIRELESS) Logitech Astro A50 Wireless Arctis Nova Pro - Definitely the most comfortable as long as you aren't moving around anywhere. If you tilt your head forward at all they flip off. They flipped off into my sink as I was washing dishes and no longer work now. Sound on them was okay - honestly not as punchy bass wise as I was hopping. I would honestly rate them 3rd in overall sound quality while using the Steelseries audio app. 7.1 sound was there and worked pretty well - nothing that will blow you away. Battery life was great with the two swappable batteries. JBL Quantum One Wired Headset - Probably the least comfortable of the 3 even though it's the lightest one. Cushions on ears and hard top band on your head def not great. Sound quality was great - better than Nova Pro's. When using paired with Dolby Atmos it had great punchy bass but the sound isolation between instruments in music could get a little muddled and finer details become hard to pick out. Still I would rank these second in sound quality and last in comfort. Obviously no battery stuff to worry about. Logitech Astro A50's - just got these babies in and I would give them the win here. Extremely comfortable. Some people say they are a little tight on their head, but I wear small baseball caps and so I'm not a good judge here. I've heard some people just put them on a basketball and that stretches them out enough for larger heads. Sound quality is best of the three. The bass might not get quite as loud and punchy as the JBL's, but it gets pretty close while still keeping excellent isolation between different instruments. I use Dolby Atmos here and it's helpful but these headphones sound just as good without it out the box. Battery life is great. Range is great. Setup is easy peasy. Flip-up to mute mic is a cool bonus. I tested all of these with a mix of jam band / rap / classical / and EDM styles of music and that is my conclusion. As for gaming I'd probably rank them 1. A50 2. Arctis Nova 3. Quantum ONE. As for music I'd rank them 1. A50 2. Quantum ONE 3. Arctis Nova Pro. And for movies I would rank them 1. A50 2. Arctis Nova Pro 3. Quantum ONE. Hopefully that's helpful to at least one person after testing almost $1000 worth of headphone tech.

Interesting. I’ve had a good experience. Sound quality is great. Mic quality is great. I like the instant switching between devices. All the profiles you can make for different use cases is great. They’re also extremely comfortable on my head and ears. Yes the Bluetooth is spotty sometimes but it isn’t a dealbreaker for me. I guess I’m not the target market for that? The only time I really use it is for calls while I game and that’s been fine. But I game on my desk and it’s not far from phone so it isn’t too much of an issue. I also have a pair of AirPods if I want to listen to music anywhere other than my desk.

Have you tried Astro A50? I cant use that for long due to the high pressure on the top of my head. They are too heavy and have too poor padding. Even have a thicker set of pads from different third parties but it doesnt help. That is the one problem i want to solve by buying a new set. But unlikely to happen with this one according to reviews and you. Thanks

Idk how this is going to be received, but I love the Astro A50x. The sound quality is really nice, the mic is decent, and the ability to be wireless to my pc and connect my phone at the same time is awesome. I can accept phone calls and still listen to whatever is on the pc. I also have fostex t50rp modded by mayflower audio, Akg k7xx, and DT770 pros, all ran through a fiio K5 pro. I still grab the astros…..

I've been really happy with the Astro A50. Comfy and they sound great

Had them, returned them. Getting up between game sessions to go downstairs, the headphones would do loud, awful "pops" and "cracks" in your ear, probably well into harmful decibel levels. My Astro A50's never did that, no matter how far I was from the base station. The sound on them was good, but outside of the cracks/pops, I had issues with the comfort and the software being pretty useles. The base station had good features, but that's about it. These were one of the headphones I tried that I absolutely do not udnerstand the hype around, and was severely let down.

Posting since I've been in the market for a wireless headset. This is a flagship one that's half off, not quite as highly reviewed as the Astro A50 X but a much lower price. Apparently these are either the most comfortable or least comfortable on the market depending on your head shape. Was hoping to find an open back wireless option for XBox and PC and this seems to be the closest I can get. My ears sweat too much when I use closed backs especially with leather/vinyl ear pads.

I can't say anything about the above, but the Epos H6Pro Closed back is around 170 euros I believe and one of the best headsets I've ever had. Now I have the Astro A50 Gen 5. It's more expensive but extremely good with a lot of hard hitting bass. Both are really perfect for Battlefield games imho.

I have a50s I rocked from console but I couldn't hear much even after tweaking the settings. I have a dac for music so I was using a wired pair of Sennheisers hxx that sounded real nice. The open back made it hard to hear with the gf watching TV next to me so I switched to a closed back pair of dt770 pros that are amazing. I found that my irl headphones made the biggest improvement versus the in game ones. In game I like the sordin or comtac 6s.

This is the answer. They were recommended to me and I haven’t looked back. My Astro a50’s worked fine, but really don’t hold a candle to my maxwell’s

The Astro50 Gen5 are actually exceptional when it comes to directional sound, especially with the community made presets you can apply. I use the HD490 Pro but if you are having a problem with newer Astros then something else is going on.

Astro A50’s all day

Anyone using the HD800s on PS5 with a mic? If so, how have you configured it (which DAC/AMP), and which Mic? Did you go with a boom mic or use a separate input for a desktop based mic? I use the Astro A50x for my PS5 currently, but I’ve got the HD800s just sitting by for desktop music listening from my Naim Uniti Atom HE. Always known this was a thing (HD800s gaming), but never bothered to look into it. Mostly because I need a mic input and don’t want to attach a boom to the HD800s.

A50 Gen 5s are beauties! Was waiting for these to come along for a long time since I own an Xbox and PS5 and sick of switching dongles around, and I’d tried the Nova Pro wireless and the ear cups were too shallow with those little nipple things resting on my ears quite often. A50 comfort is outstanding, and on top of all the other great features they have, comfort is king when you’re sat playing games for hours at a time. Those ROG Deltas look though if your on one platform and don’t plan to play on Xbox.

Just get the Gen 5s, no hdmi issues at all, everything just connects through a single USB-C and they are top notch. If you have a Series X, those Delta 2s only connect through wired mode so probably not the best choice if you plan on playing Xbox a fair amount.

If you can get one around $100, the pulse elite is the best detail headset over ever used. I sold my Xbox recently and got rid of the Astro A50X, as it was overkill for one console. The planar drivers in the Elites are ridiculous for Siege

The Pulse Elite are a very clean and detailed headset for around £130. If you’re happy to spend more, I have the Astro A50 Gen 5 and they sound amazing, currently on sale for £200 in UK. The Arctis Nova Pro Wireless are also very good and nice design for £230ish in UK.

The padding on that single piece that rests on your head is criminal in the Astros. I have modded every Astro I’ve owned by pulling the padding away from the plastic, slicing it open from the back on the sticky side, cutting my own foam, and replacing it, replace the sticky surface with tape and sticking back down. Look at how pitiful the padding is on their latest A50 Gen 5!! You may get more and better input from one of the gaming subreddits. There's even a subreddit for Astro. I have the gen4 and it has been serving me well. I use it for both gaming and video calls for work. My only complaint is that the mic picks up wind from my ceiling fan very easily. Maybe gen 5 deals with that better.

All depends on what you want from a headset. If you’re into your audio and will take advantage of the dac/amp by using its features like EQ and other customisations and swappable batteries that technically gives you unlimited battery life, then go for it, because it has really good audio and has excellent imaging for FPS games If you want pure audio quality, which for gaming I don’t understand why, then go for the Audeze Maxwell, but it has mediocre imaging and it’s a very heavy headset on your head Astro A50 Gen 5 is the other one to consider. It has excellent comfort, really good audio, good imaging and great mic, but if you also regularly use Bluetooth on the go, then Astro isn’t for you as the Bluetooth is on the dock and not on the headset

Sound is subjective, but I’d say they’re equal on sound quality, but SteelSeries has better imaging, but I do love the Astro comfort with those velour ear pads. However, Astro is definitely not worth the price when the Bluetooth is on the dock. That was a stupid thing to do, because anyone who buys a headset with Bluetooth would want to use the headset away from their set up and Bluetooth on the go

Don’t listen to any Warzone content creator who talks about audio. They don’t know much about audio, they just go on about a particular headset or audio device, because they’re sponsored by the brand and they’ll never say anything negative about that product. You need to watch reviews by audio guys. Best person to watch is Gadgetry Tech on YouTube. He does proper audio measurements and his channel is purely dedicated for audio and gaming audio. I’m someone who really understands audio and I e been into it for over 30 years and here are some things you really need to know. When choosing an audio product for gaming, firstly you need to know what you want first and how well do you understand audio. Do you want to have amazing audio quality or because it’s gaming as long as it has good enough audio you’re happy? Do you want something that has top tier imaging for directional audio queues i.e. footsteps? I’m guessing you do, because you’ve posted on the Warzone page. Do you want something that you can simply plug and play without worrying about EQ or something you want to be able to make customisations? This also brings the question of what do you game on, console or PC? Don’t want wireless or wired? Thai is important, because years ago I would’ve said wired, as it’s zero latency and better audio quality however, the wireless headset technology has come a long way and nowadays the top wireless gaming headsets have minimal latency and audio quality has improved a lot. If you’re on PC, and you don’t mind using IEM, do some research on top IEM’s for gaming and go for it, and because you’re on PC you can use plenty of EQ programmes. IEM’s will always have the best imaging. If you’re on console, and want a headset you can customise the EQ without the need of a PC and something that’s top tier for FPS games, get eh SteelSeries Nova Pro Wireless. It has really good audio, top tier imaging, and it has a dedicated DAC on which you can make all the customisations you need without the need of a PC, including 10 band EQ and the only time you’ll need a PC for it is when there’s a new software update. There’s also the Nova Pro Wired. If you want the best of the best audio quality in a gaming headset then Audeze Maxwell, but it has mediocre imaging. If you want a gaming headset thats has everything overall and be done with it, i.e. wireless, good audio, really good imaging, good mic, comfortable etc then HyperX Cloud III Wireless, but for me it doesn’t get loud enough. Another good overall headset to consider is Astro A50 Gen 5. Really good audio, very comfortable, great mic, base station on which you can charge the headset as it’s a dock style base station, good enough imaging for most people. There’s also studio headphones to consider if you’re on PC, because they’ll always have better audio quality than gaming headsets.

Incredible set of cans, Ive had the nova pros, a50x and the stealth pros. These are better than all of those.

I agree like the Astros more. The arctis are great for the swappable battery and the sound is by no means bad but the comfort isn't as good as the astros. The ear cups aren't as form fitting and the headband never feels quite right on my head. The astros have the edge in sound quality and are more comfortable to wear. I had to replace the battery on them last year which was a bit of a pain. I think it was around 30$ off amazon and I had to dissasemble the headset and solder the connections, which I managed in an hour with no previous experience. The docking station kind of sucks too but I think its better on newer models. I still use both, I moved my arctis to my pc and use my astros for PS5, don't think you are going wrong with either and the arctis I got on a deep discount for almost half the cost of the Astro set. Haven't looked at pricing in awhile though so I might be off base with that.

I've owned 5 pairs of A40s since 2012, nothing aside from the cord has failed me. I just recently switched to the A50x and I can't say enough good things about them... It will remain my recommendation for the next while.

I have the a50s and a pair of audeze maxwells , I would go for the audeze because their sound is better than any headset on the market for gaming

Have you looked into the audeze maxwells? I have them and also the a50s gen 5. They're both amazing for competitive gaming. Not sure why they wouldn't be, with a good EQ they sound amazing

This is a problem I faced a month ago, my first Xbox and i learned the bad way that you cannot connect anything good directly, you need a DAC approved by Microsoft, I think only the mix/amp (I got it and I could never made it work, no updates available anymore) and the steelseries gen 2 (this is the one that worked for me)… then you can connect anything non-Xbox approved (everything made for Xbox is shit)… then you can connect any headphone… unfortunately the dac itself is about 100 USD… with a very basic iems you will get a much better experience ( around 20 usd) vs any “gaming headphone”… over ear I suggest you go for an open back headphone (maybe kiwi ears altruva) but it would never be close to 50 usd with good quality… you would love the IEMs, it is a game changer vs any gaming headphone you ever tried. I had the Astro a50 and they are awful compared to a 20 usd iem… a good overear headphone made for high quality music will also be a game changer but you will need to invest a bit more… I almost forget, mic is a challenge, you can connect the iem to the controller directly but the mic might not work…. That is why I needed a dac… also consider to do some tuning on Xbox Dolby atmos depending on what you are playing… some IEMs have a very high treble which can be a bit annoying. Chat gpt can make the work for you. Good luck, I wanted a simple wired headphone with a mic and I ended up spending 200 usd to make it work (dac, cheap IEMs, trrs splitter and a boyu mic) … I was that happy that I upgraded immediately to a better IEMs and good over ear headphones

Went with the a50s, aw pros werent in stock in store at best buy. Im happy, sound quality is incredible, so is the mic. Just wish it came with pleather ear cups as an option too with that price tag.

Why would you get hate for Astros? I have a40s and they've been the best headset I've had by a long way, I'm not a massive "sound guy" so I don't really care about the small things, but I needed a headset that was wireless for both PC and occasionally Xbox, and Astros where the best headset that fit the bill by a long way. Granted I've had them probably 6 years now.

for $130, its a limiting price range. I'd recommend the Astro A40. higher end headset. but ive had mine for years. still have them, but switched over the the a50 now. Good budget headsets are turtle beach. wired will last longer, just be careful with breaking the wires. they are sensitive. if you throw them around, drop them, run the wire over on your chair, or twist them too much. they will fail. This was one of the couple reason I chose the Nova Pros . I went from A50 Gen 3's to Artics pro to the Nova Pros, the battery swapping, the easier customization that Wicked cushions offer, and the way they look as the blend in a bit better as a regular pair of cans if I had to step out the house with them. The A50s base pissed me off towards the end so I think that's why I soured on them

Comfort is subjective. I would much rather have the leatherette ear cups. And if you don't like leatherette , then the fabric ones are included. But they are a pain in the ass to swap out unlike Astros magnetic system. Also, I've seen people report that Astros ear cups let in a lot of external sound.

I fully agree with you. The G Pro X 2 and the Astro A50 are on sale and the same price on Amazon right now - I went with the G Pro X 2. Some might find that surprising, but the Astro A50's dock-based connection is a huge dealbreaker for me. ​The dock is the main connection point and houses the Bluetooth, which means you can't use the headset on the go without it. This seriously limits its portability. Plus, the range is poor and the signal gets choppy if you're not right next to the dock. ​The only real advantage of the Astro A50 is its microphone, which is supposedly fantastic. But I'm okay with a slightly less perfect mic for a better overall experience. The G Pro X 2's mic isn't as bad as people claim - there's even a "clear mic fix" preset in G Hub that fully resolves the clarity issue. While it may not be on par with the Astro's, the G Pro X 2's comfort and flexibility are better, and I think it looks much sleeker. Regarding sound output, on paper, the X 2 is better since it has a 50mm graphene driver versus a 40mm in the astro. ​If the G Pro X 2 had the same mic as the Astro A50, it would be a no-brainer. But for some, mic quality is more important than portability, range, battery life, usb c charging, and not being limited by the useless dock station. It just comes down to personal preference.

If the G Pro X 2 had a better quality mic, the Astros wouldn't stand a chance. The fact that its functionality is tied to the dock is the biggest design flaw. You can't easily use it across other devices and it's wireless range is very poor. G pro X 2 a bigger graphene driver, better battery life, lighter, 3.5 mm jack, usb c chargeable, and a detachable mic. Although the mic quality isn't as good as Astros, everything else is the same, if not better, on the g pro X2.

Bought a set of A30s, didn't like. They eventually let me return. The A50 (Gen 5)s I got a couple weeks ago are 10/10. Only issue is you gotta press a button a couple times if you use Bluetooth(for music) and console sound at the same time. If you can find them under $180, for sure worth it. I paid 265 after tax, worth it if they last that many days

A10 was the best headset I’ve had. Got it in 2017, the mic finally broke (physically, it got cut) just a few months ago. Quality audio and good endurance. I went to Gen 2 and it doesn’t quite fit my head the same and everybody complains that my mic volume it too low despite the monitoring being on max.

Went from a40s to a50s.. best headset I’ve ever had, the Bluetooth to listen to your phones music at the same time as gaming is insane, being able to walk away with a wireless headset is nice, it’s comfy, sound is insane, mic is insane, no problems if you have the money 100% a50s

A couple of weeks ago I got a used Astro A50 Gen 4, connected it to pc through optical and was pretty blown away by the quality. I was surprised by how good it sounds, both in music and gaming. Very airy, nice bass, it has a warm-ish sound signature but not boomy or anything like that. I tried other gaming headsets and I hated them.

After trying this headset, I can tell that it has a huge flaw, especially for the price they are asking. And that issue is: Bluetooth. It is horrible, you can't walk more than 4 meters without losing the sound. Sadly, for me, it is an instant refund. Why do I want a wireless base station and such crap, when I miss a good bluetooth? I mean, I can't use the headset outside my home, I can't even use the headset in the bedroom to listen music with my smartphone. It's just a huge flaw. Regarding the sound, it is not bad, but it's not special, the Audeze Maxwell is much more vibrant, and honestly speaking, it is not much better than a Hyperx Cloud Alpha. Honestly, I am disappointed. The only good thing of this headset is comfort and microphone, that's it. I don't know if I will try Logitech G Pro X 2, as it fixes all of the flaws in Astro A50 Gen 5, and the microphone is fine for gaming. Or maybe I will try another brand, I don't know what to do.

I just want to use my smartphone with the headset in a room which is only 2 metres away from the room where I have the charging dock. Well, I can't, the smartphone has to be in the same desk as the dock or it will cause issues. It's sad because I wasn't expecting this in a high end product. I think I will keep it and get a cheap pair of bluetooth headphones, but this is definitely a huge flaw.

I use A50s too, and love them everywhere else, but there's so much sound leakage that I have to turn the sound up so loud to hear footsteps. It's actually annoying

The Astro has by far the best headset mic I've ever heard. That said, unlike the other guy I'd prefer the Maxwell for media consumption. For Gaming, I think the A50 Gen 5 is the best you can currently buy. Just remember you're bound to the base station

Bluetooth does not make or break a gaming headset ..... meant for gaming at a computer/console. It's just so you can answer a phone call when you game in your room. What else did you expect? Sound quality is amazing and I say that coming from Maxwells. the only headset I've heard that comes close to maxwells but with MUCH better comfort. I would've preferred if they were selling a50 just with 2 usb c dongles I can switch between. The whole base station thing is not really adding any convenience to me but it is what it is and it's one of the best headsets currently even if it has some drawbacks

I am really surprised. I tried few different headsets trying to replace pulse3d. Many sound better but it's always worse with comfort. Maxwell sounded great but was heavy and clamping. Astro is fairly light, dones't clamp a lot and does not seal. So it's very comfortable. Don't make me hear my heartbeat like other closed headsets. And the audio quality is surprising. Very full sounding and detailed. It's fantastic so far

Why? You don’t have to go to extremes. Gaming design does not mean bad audio. It means usually a clever 2,4ghz lag less connection and features. Try Maxwell or Astro a50. One uses planar and other graphene drivers. I personally prefer Astro a50 gen50. The sound is amazing

i have astro a50s, theyre pretty good with a simple enough software that lets me set different presets based on eq (i also am not an audio enthusiast but i was able to create a half decent "fps" preset that boosts footstep audio/ base and a more everyday preset with a balanced sound for videos or non comp games) the base preset is more than enough and it did come with "default" presets for like fps or rpgs or movies or whatever that i imagine accomplish a similar effect. sound qual is great and clear and have lasted me a few years now. mic works like a flip up mute. only thing i will say might not be for everyone is that the noise cancelling is nonexistent. i hear basically everything i would with them off which works for me because i have a pretty quiet area but yrmv

I was a long time user of the a40s. Eventually i started trying out different headsets from different companies and I’ve been trying to find the perfect headset. (That doesn’t exist) Lists of headsets I’ve used. Steel series arctis nova pros Razer BlackShark v2 and v3 pro Beyerdynamic DT 900 pro X Sennheiser HD560s Audeze Maxwell Hyper X cloud 2 and alpha Logitech g pro After going through and trying all of these headsets, most recently the BlackShark v3 pros the Astro A50 gen 5 is easily the best. Crazy comfortable, best mic, really easy to track footsteps in games like CS and Val. And with different EQ music even sounds great.

The Astros have 24 bit audio too. I don’t see a world where the beyer’s are better for gaming. If you make music than yeah get the beyers but if not the Astros are way better all the features alone make them worth it

For me clamping force is a big issue. These don’t put a lot of pressure on the side of my head and i like that. I love the ear cups and have no issues. The blacksharks are fucking stapled to your head and they gave me bad headaches.

If you can stretch your budget, my recommendation would be the **Astro A50 X.** I'm recommending it based on two factors: comfort and mic. It's generally rated as comfortable by reviewers and it's not very heavy compared to other good headphones. It also has one of the best mics, even considering wired options. A great budget option would be the **Razer BlackShark V2 Hyperspeed**. It also has a top of the line mic for a fraction of the price. Just don't expect the same sound quality from the headphones. That's not to say it's bad though. It still has a well-tuned frequency response. You could buy the **BlackShark V2 Pro** if you want to detach the mic for outdoor use, but I can't really recommend it due to the inferior wireless performance to the newer Hyperspeed and the massive price difference just for that detaching the mic. Lastly, you could also check the **Razer Barracuda X Chroma** if you like its design better. But for a similar price to the Hyperspeed, I don't think it does audio quality better, especially in the mic aspect.

I love my A50's, especially because they're white. But one annoying feature is the volume wheel location. It always rubs against my hoodie and decreases the volume lol! I would say they're among the best headset I've owned, the GSP 601 and 670 were my favourite, and the PC38X was awesome for summer. Such a shame they're all discontinued.

Take a long look at the Astro A50s Gen 5. They’re compatible with everything, sound AMAZING with bass that can literally rattle your head, have easily the best mic of any gaming headset (I recorded a sung vocal track into Pro Tools with it yesterday), are extremely comfortable, easily modded, come with a USB-C dock/ switching station, and can stream a Bluetooth signal while connected to your PC or console. Dolby Atmos comes free with them for PC and Xbox and if you do streaming there’s sliders for all of that routing in the G-Hub software. I’m a headphone junkie and connoisseur and own many sets including really nice reference monitors for my recording studio and these fifth generation A50s sound better than anything I’ve ever used. There’s also a large community of users that upload EQs that they’ve made for both the speakers and the mic that are specially tuned for specific games and adding them and uploading your own is really easy in G-Hub. I didn’t care for the Gen 3 and Gen 4 versions but these Gen 5s are something else. New DAC, new Graphene drivers, really nice sounding. I just realized I posted in a real connoisseur sub Reddit so I feel a little silly. I don’t know how they would compare to what people in this sub are used to but they’re really great to my ears.

Not who you’re replying to, but I had the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7s and ended up returning them to Best Buy after a couple months for the A50 Gen5s. I think something was faulty with the Novas cause the right ear was always lower volume than the left despite then both being balanced, which is why I returned them. But the Astros have a much better overall sound in my opinion. For what I was paying, I could’ve got the Arctis Pros as well, but after a few hours of researching on the day of purchase, the Astros seemed to have better reviews overall.

Astros will be the most comfortable by far. Steel series will probably last the longest because you can swab batteries. That's the only reason I gave up my astros and changed to the steel series. But astros are definitely way more comfortable. Sound and mic quality are basically the same between the two

Nice review. I JUST replaced my wireless pro’s with the Nova and now I’m like shit. I guess I return them lol I tried the A50X but the top strap was bad on my head.

It was very soft but so narrow. I tried them for a few sessions and could keep them on but it was so bad compared to the suspension system. They did sound better than the Nova though. My elite comes next week and I have until the 13th to return the Nova. I will try them back to back and see how it goes.

Hey I just got in my g522 today and I’ve been testing it only got to play rivals but it sounds excellent with some clean bass I used the fps preset and brought the mids back up to be flat with a small boost in bass but I’m loving them very comparable to the a50 gen 5 I have I’d say about 90% of that so far from what I listened too and music is amazing did some tiny desk concert and it had great soundstage and imaging was able to pick out where instruments came from. It doesn’t get as loud as my a50s but so far I want to do mor tests because I think I might actually return the a50s and save me 100.

While I also strongly dislike the design forcing Bluetooth to rely on a base station, isn't a 4-meter Bluetooth range a bit exaggerated? I've never experienced a Bluetooth disconnection during use, whether moving to the kitchen or bathroom. My issue with this headset is the functional design of the base station—features like Bluetooth connectivity, which shouldn't be handled by the base station, have been shoved onto it. Meanwhile, some useful functions are missing, such as volume display and adjustment, along with a microphone mute indicator.

I’ve had the Astros and the have been my favorites as well, i currently have the TB stealth pros and Arctis pro wireless but the TB sound good but aren’t load enough and the steel series are loud but don’t sound as good even after adjusting the EQs

The software is bad which is why I struggle to recommend it. The fractal scape, cloud 3 S and Maxwell are the only ones I can give my full recommendation too. The newest A50 would get it also if it wasn't so pricy.

The clip issue in the Gen 4 shouldn't be an issue in the A50 X/ Gen 5 versions, for what that's worth.

Second and third this. If it’s PC, the side tone thing isn’t an issue. I have also the same headsets for Xbox cause why not? Little bit of side tone there but bare noticeable. It depends, some people swear by it some people hate it. I think the enjoy-ability of the headset depends on the person. You may love it since you had arctics 7's, and the battery life is one thing you don't have to worry about with the nova pros. From what I heard the nova pros is simple enough for anyone, and the sound quality is good but won't blow your mind, and has ranges of features. The biggest downside of nova's is the mic, it's absolutely horrible for its price but still does it thing for communication. I never tried a steel-series headset, I have the Astro a50 gen 5 and absolutely adore them 10/10. But I think this is a great deal for amazon, you can find it on ebay for 120$ sometimes. Although, it may take some time of patiently waiting and searching especially for one in good condition with all the accessories. Amazon gives you the ability to try it with no hassle. I say if you want it get it, seeing as 8+ is definitely time for a new headset.

I would suggest for the fps route to go more towards Hyperx, and if you want the new wireless the cloud 3 s. I heard many good things about it, and the hyperx's are more towards the fps side of Headsets. However, if you don't need wireless there are wayy better quality headphones specifically for fps. Like the FiiO FT1 or PC38X, I heard are fantastic. Sadly, I never delve into wired audiophile side as wired is a no go for me, I move too much around my house wayy too much during gaming so wireless is a must need for me. So take my take my opinion with a grain of salt. They also have the Astro a50x for around 190-195 and the gen 5, which is what I have for 140$ if you like black. I'm a rider constantly for the Astro's a50's they are everything I love. I heard GG app with Astro a50 make fps sounds better but I have not yet tried that since I prefer the music side of my headset. I would highly suggest with the time left, to take the chance and look at [GadgetryTech](https://www.youtube.com/@GadgetryTech). He has really in-depth reviews and there are many more headset's on sale right now beside the Astro's and Nova's.

They suck. first thing i read before buyin them was that people has issues with the headset not charging. bought my headset 5 hours ago, tried them and then set them to charge for 2 hours. I came back and looked at the and they said 100%, picked them up and then they said 50% and 3 seconds later they said 1% and wont start. Garbage beyond logic. That is a deal breaker as it was my absolute first experiance with them.

Maxwells have terrible build quality. The drivers are far too fragile. I babied mine and they still failed in 3 months. Numerous other people sadly have had this issue. Its sadly a QA issue. Ive tried all the "gamer" headsets lately. I found the a50's the most comfortable with the best mic, the maxwells when they worked audio quality was the best. Mic quality suffered. Ended up returning both of these. Audeze for the terrible quality control, and the logitechs due to ghub being a legit cancer, as well as they tend to leave a "hot spot" on your head after using them for a couple hours. The a50s were probably the headset I liked the most out of the "gamer" brands. Turtle beach ones are comfortable but have a muddy sound. I use those for my switch, where they work surprisingly well in Bluetooth mode. Waiting on a pair of xm4s i ordered to replace them. I ended up not being happy with any of them, and bought a pair of sennheisers/amp with a mod mic. Best of both worlds, and they are still on a real good sale. Amp made the cable a non issue.

I personally believe all “Spatial Audio” is bad. It’s fake. Using standard left vs right audio is WAY better for locating enemies and footsteps.

I agree with you on the Maxwell comparison. The a50 gen 5 with wicked cushions is the only headset for me that gets close to the maxwells with sound but are more comfortable.

My honest opinion no they aren't worth it anymore. Ever since Logitech bought them out customer service is garbage. I got a set of a50x from Amazon and I'm fighting with Logitech on warranty. The mic arm was super loose out of the box and there is no click when pulling the arm up to mute. I've been fighting with Logitech on warranty and have been accused of physically damaging them. Don't get me wrong there a awesome headset but when they inevitably break don't expect warranty.

I had 3^rd gen when Best Buy had a price mistake for $110. I sold mine about a year after. I read that the battery on those degraded faster than usual.

Nova Pro wireless Crap build quality sleek and highly customizable design Very light on your head but stock earpads are super uncomfortable and you always feel it on your ears. Great bass but the clarity is better on the A50x imo. No Dolby Atmos Horrible microphone (probably one of the worst you could get from a headset in the price range) sidetone is great but gets buggy. Software is buggy as well. Didn’t like it. Overall feels cheap for the price you paid for it and you will always ask your self (why did I spend this much on them) even though they are always on sale for 30% off or more…. I highly recommend the purchase of the A50x or Audeze Maxwell. (maxwell is a different tier of sound quality)

I agree, my Astros lasted a little more than a year. They are made of the cheapest plastic and the mic boom pivot disintegrated from basic use.

Here are my breakdowns, as someone that owns all of them (well, minus the Nova Pro Wireless - I don’t have them any longer since I’ve upgraded): The Audeze Maxwell have, hands-down the absolute best audio quality I’ve ever heard in a pair of headphones. However, that being said…they’re hella uncomfortable. Even with Wicked Cushions pads and headband. They’re just soooo heavy that I (and many others) struggle to wear them for extended periods of time (for me, over an hour). The firmware also has a history of ring an absolute mess and the phone app is garbage. As for the Arctis Nova Elites and the A50’s, it a tie! I truly cannot figure out for the life of me which I like best, but factoring in everything, I’m leaning towards the Arctis Nova Elites - by a small margin. I’ve not really had the Nova Elites for long enough to compare. Comfort on both are top-notch. The mic does take the win for the A50’s, tho - it really has one of the best mics on a gaming headset! The Arctis Nova Elite mic does still have that “tinny” SteelSeries sound, but not as bad as their other models. But yeah, sound quality on both are God-Tier… just under the Maxwells. It really boils down to what you prefer. The A50’s have a docking station, so they’re always charged. The Arctis Nova Elites have a swappable battery. So again, it’s always charged, but with a little more effort, lol. I also do think the Nova Elites look better, overall. Oh and Astro just released a new badass orange color in the A50X’s (see more info on that in my rankings, below)! I will also say…if this is important to you… the A50’s only support 16bit at 48kHZ on console and only 24bit at 48kHz on PC. The Nova Elites, however, support 24bit at 48kHz on console and 24bit at 96kHz on PC! 👀 And then, right behind those, I rank the Nova Pro Wireless. A lot of the same feature and functions as the Elites, but the audio isn’t AS good, nor is the build quality. So, my personal rankings are: 1: SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite if money is absolutely not an object/concern. The app experience is pretty great, as well! These are my main for the PS5, as that is my primary gaming system. 2: Astro A50 or A50x. Both are the same headset, but the docking station for the A50x is great for multi-platform use and even has HDMI passthrough so you can even get true Game/Chat Mix on PS5! It’s one of the only headsets that have this unique feature and that’s implemented so perfectly. Otherwise, the A50’s are identical, minus the HDMI passthrough inputs. I use these as the main on my PC (RTX 4090, Intel 14th Gen i9 and 64GB DDR5 RAM) with the Logitech GHub program, so I’ve not tried the app, if there is one. 3: Audeze Maxwell. Absolutely phenomenal sound and aesthetics, marred by an extremely heavy weight, bad firmware and PC program, as well as a terrible app experience. But seriously…for these, the sound truly does make up for all the negatives! 4: The Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. If you want all the features and functions of the Nova Elites, but don’t mind the slight downgrade in sound quality. 5: As an honorable mention, I’m putting the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3’s here. Not only are they not too expensive, the have the best sound of any $200-range headphone I’ve ever used. Hella comfy and the dual-dongle works perfectly and without flaw. Meaning, you can have a dongle on one device, the other on another device and switch between them …INSTANTLY. It truly is amazing to see it in action. And the sound is superb for the price range! The app also isn’t bad, either! And of course, I absolutely recommend…regardless of the headphones you get…invest in a pair of Wicked Cushions to maximize comfort and sound (I personally use and love their Freeze ones - they’re a “cooling” memory foam) Hope this helps!!!

Note: I know you’re requesting this for Xbox. I’m a PS5 and PC guy, But…all of these headsets work for Xbox equally as well! All headsets that I recommend below work on everything - with the exception of the Audeze Maxwells. Awesome, I got the Astro A50’s on my PC right now and love them. I’m using the new-ish Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3’s on my PS5 Pro and they’ve got great sound, IMO. So, I’m thinking about just making these my PS5 cans! I just feel like for the Obsidian color, they didn’t put as much effort into it as they did the Sage + Gold and were like OK, let’s just make them all black and shiny as hell! 🫠 You gonna get some Wicked Cushions for yours?

Just got Astro A50 gen 5 today, upgraded from pro x 1’s, and the sound quality is so clean and rich. I prefer the fit of pro x, but sound is way better on a50s. Can’t go wrong with pro x v2, if you wanna spend less money

if op switches between multiple consoles and is looking for a comfier fit, the astro a50 x (or gen5) is pretty competitive as well. not that many good noise isolation picks unfortunately :(

A50 …. What I currently use. They are amazing way better than my old turtle beaches. They are a little pricey but worth the investment. But that also means you won’t throw them when rage quitting 😂😂.

Yea those are great, OP can also go for the A50s gen 5 but the earmuffs on those is smaller than the A40s. Also there might be a new gen A40 coming out soon, since the older stock has been oos.

A50 gen4 what a ballache to set up on PC eventually got the eq working but man did it take some doing and having no way to charge base station except for USB is ridiculous as your using the fking cans when the computer is on lol I turned the USB to be powered when the computer is switched off, that works. Now they work and quality and sound are good but omg what a ballache never again I will get designated Bluetooth next time.

I've been using Astros for years (A50x). But i recently changed to in ear and bought a pair for $50 on amazon (Linsoul Kz Zs10 pro). They sound so much better than my Astros ever did, but the downside is they're cabled, and the cable is short.

I have Astro a50 gen 4 and they are miserable. They’re cool when they work. But currently mine won’t pair with the base station. I can’t log into control center app (has to be done on a computer) with my home Mac. So I brought them to work to use a windows computer. I tried to manually update the firmware but get an error about “bootloader mode” and now sound won’t even play out of them. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Astro on the computer a million times. I’ve reset the headset with Dolby and game button. I’m out of gas on this 300 dollar headset. They were pain setting up initially. They were fine for like a year. I really miss my old turtle beaches.

My daily. fiio ft1 wired no mic tho. I use them on PC to. With a amp/xlr 2nd on my desk wireless SS nova 7x tuned tho. with a set of Wickeds cool gels. I use A50’s. Stereo Uncompressed is the best audio setting on Xbox in my experience after comparing using the Dolby App and the basic audio. The presets I use are the Tourney ones, link below. This group has various other presets for other games. They used to have a website but all the data has been uploaded on GitHub https://github.com/XxUnkn0wnxX/TheZEFERENCE/tree/main/TOURNAMENT%20SERIES

I find I stick to tourney 2/3 most of the time. I loaded the three of them after trying some of the other presets listed and when I downloaded them years ago they came in a bundle of 3. Differences are probably slight, I’m old, can’t tell anymore.

Astro A50x if you want the best! I have had a lot of headsets in the last 20 years, and Astros take the cake. Astros are by far the best. I have had the A50s for 8 years and moved that over to the series X and got the A50X for pc. They are amazing.

I wouldn't. There's no software or driver support for it. Astro Command Center is gone and G HUB doesn't recognize my A50s.

Also use the A50. Might try out a preset. Why the 3 different tourney presets. What makes them different for you. Do you use them all at times or only 1.

Thanks! Yea i’m not good with most tech stuff or audio stuff. Found some preset a while ago i like, have it on for everything tho. From music to survival games. Worth it to try if a Pubg specific one is better. Hoping those tourney preset have a better balance between loud footsteps and less loud airplanes because those can be so annoyingly loud all the time.

A50X & A50 gen 5 are the same, only différence is the HDMI connectors for console on the base

I had these and they were very comforatable and light. Lost sound on one ear tho and recently replaced with newest logitech lightspeed and they are superb with the cloth pad that come with. Also better battery. Can’t go much wrong with either.

I have these headphones and blue snowball mic but I pretty much never use it. Got logitech lightspeed x2 or whatever the newest is called and the difference in comfort is incredible. Never can go back to wired either.

Dolby Atmos =/= normal Windows spatial audio though. Astro A50s come with a license for Dolby Atmos The difference in audio filling a three dimensional space going from normal audio to Dolby Atmos is night and day, and I consistently hear directionally better than my friends in Tarkov (when Tarkov audio wants to work)

Tried them once, reluctantly. I will *never* try them again. I bought the Stealth 700s (I think. They had ANC and were wireless) and wasted 3 hours of my life because they didn't work. I updated firmware, factory reset. Tried this, tried that. The closest I ever got, they'd pair toy PC, the ANC would work, but no audio. And if I changed any settings in their software they basically turned off. I threw em back in the box, got my money back and got Astro A50s instead. They worked instantly, first try, and only got better with an updates and setup.

Gen 5 Astro A50 sound and look incredible.

Astro A50. Had them since 2018. Still going strong. Expensive but have lasted for me.

I'm not sure about mic quality as I don't play multiplayer games but for music and movies and single player games the A50X is just amazing. I own the Audeze Maxwell, Nova Pro Wireless and Stealth Pro and none of them hold a candle to the A50X. People will say the Maxwell for music but I much, much prefer the A50X in the 'Media' preset. So to answer your question - Yeah I think it's the best headset money can buy at the moment.

I would all day long. Maxwell is too neutral. I like a bit of life in my music. Maxwell with an EQ for more bass is nice. But I'd still take the A50X

I’ve been through loads recently. Here’s a brief rundown (all ran on my Xbox): Audeze Maxwell - Best sounding, not a single other dedicated gaming headset comes close. However the weight really puts strain on your neck after a while. The mic was also not the best Arctis Nova Pro (wired and wireless) - Just not good, for the price anyway. Sound was ok, mic was ok, ear cups were too small, the eq on the dac didn’t make a big enough impact to the sound to make it useful. Very light however Razor Blackshark V2 Pro - Comfy, sounded ok, mic was phenomenal, looks were nice. However for the price again, just doesn’t offer anything special, and the eq was similar to the issues the Nova Pro had DT 900 Pro X (with mod mic) - VERY comfy, fantastic soundstage, very detailed, look very nice. However non existent bass (for immersive games and games like battlefield would be nice to have), and the mic was just ok. Overall from these choices the best value (bar the next one on the list) Astro A50x - Never had a pair before cause I thought the price was just not worth it, however I am stunned. Comfort is phenomenal, sound is next level especially for competitive games, the eq works fantastically, the mic is great. And the free Dolby Atmos you get with it is fantastic for immersive games, and even when using standard stereo sound, the bass is great whilst leaving the treble for footsteps still great If you’re on PC alone, I’d say go for DT 900 Pro X and get a proper USB mic, however if you’re on PC and console, the a50x is a no brainer, the ability to switch inputs to determine what is shown on your screen is fantastic. And the audio switches to that specific source straight away.

For competitive Astros, ANYDAY of the week. For immersive open world singles, maxwells all day. But…the Astros are still phenomenal for immersive open world games, whereas the maxwells are just ok for comp. They’re good, but cause of the planar sound, they sometimes get quite muddy when there’s footsteps going around you. So I’d say a50x

Got one sitting under my Xbox right now. First audio quality is meh. The rang is short. The headstaps are warped so the padding piece won't stay on without strapping it together with rubber band. Battery life is short and they are very expensive.

Definitely not. If you want a good competitive headset I would just get a TB stealth pro, if you want something that’s mainly great for music I would get a Maxwell, and if you want something that’s just a good all rounder I would get an A50x or Nova pro wireless. All of those are cheaper as well.

Most people argue between Audeze Maxwell, A50x and SS Arctis Pro. Get whichever has the features, quality you prefer. I went with the Arctis since it is the only one with a receiver base that works with my GoXLR and RodeCaster Duo for mic monitoring.

sennheiser pc38x is hands down the best option for competitive fps gaming if you need a mic (footsteps & mic is superb). the gaming division from beyerdynamic is great too. if you strictly want immersion then the audeze maxwell would be the best for that but the mic isnt so great imo(theres rumors a maxwell 2 might come out soon). the astro a50x has the best wireless mic in its competition.

Historically I've always been an astro fan. Had a pair of Astro A40s back in 2008 and they were amazing. Used every generation of A50s. Gen 2 being my favourite. Ever since Logitech bought them out, they gotten progressively worse. Only thing they have going for them is the decent stock mic right out the box

I lost 300$ on a50 gen 5,has worked maybe 10 hours totally and dock station froze and stayed in xbox mode after a regular software update... couldnt return cause i bought them internationally :(

Cheaper Astro headset quality has gone down, however if you purchase A50’s they’re still high quality good headphones. But I do not recommend A30 or below for gaming.

I bought the a50x and after 2 days of use I returned them I didn't like the sound of course you can eq them but my cloud 3 s sounds better out of the box. Better imaging and soundstage I don't know why many people are saying they're great, only good thing is their mic but they're overpriced.

I have A50s as well and I use contact VI V and IV they all seem to work great. Or they did maybe an update messed up sound I haven't played in a few weeks

Also I put my A 50s so there's a star and setting 2 I haven't messed with anything I just did that off a friend who recommended that for the EQ and whatever the star is 🤷‍♂️🤣

I can't speak for either of the other headsets you mentioned but if someone told me any generation A50 wasn't loud enough I'd first suspect user error, defect, or serious hearing damage. When the bass hits I can feel the headset vibrating against my head. I got the A50X because the A50 Gen 5's weren't out yet, and the Gen 4 micro usb port was atrocious and I wear them most of the time I'm home. A50 is the most comfortable gaming headset I've ever worn. I can make this thing fit loosely on my big head and the ear cups actually fit over my ears. Anyway.. sorry I can't offer a comparison to the other headsets as I haven't really felt a need to shop since getting my A50's.. until they released a new set of a50's with a USB-C port on it and I just couldn't resist it anymore. Loving the G502 X Plus over previous versions for the same reason oddly enough.

I have a pair of pc38x that I was happy with, however since they are open they let in sound so when my setup was moved to a louder environment I longed for something more closed and also wireless. So I tried multiple different ones, the Steelseries Nova pro wireless had good sound after some tweaking but I found them on the smaller side and a bit uncomfortable. The Audeze maxwells were great sounding, however quite heavy and very big cups. Eventually I came across a very good deal on some of the new Astro A50s that I had previously dismissed because durrhurr astros bad. Pleasantly surprised by the comfort and for a non audiophile they sound good, not like the audezes of course but good. So if you want wired in a more quiet environment, the pc38xs are great, I did have to put mine clamped on the box to loosen them for about a week or two since the clamping force was very high. If you want wireless, best advice I can give is try some and return them if you dislike them. I recommend Astro A50s wholeheartedly tho EDIT: Forgot to say, mic is very good on the pc38x and Astro a50. The audezes ended up being quite good after some tweaking in a third party eq software. Tweaked the steelseries too and the mic sounded better after some tweaking. Havent tweaked the astros or pc38x at all, good out of the box for me

This just goes to show that people def hear things different, and that ok! I have the A50X and the BlackShark V3 Pro and I’m sending the A50X back. I feel like the Razers are able to pinpoint steps better for me. Now don’t get me wrong the A50X’s sound good but for me it’s Razer this time. Both good, enjoy what you have!

I typically go with black on any headset but I went with sage and gold this time. Hoping not to regret the color.

The Astro A50X are an awesome pair of gaming headsets from what I know, but they require a base station to use, so you won't be able to use it in planes or whatever if that matters to you, but the A50X have a better mic and better sound than AW Pros AFAIK And neither of these headsets have ANC if that matters to you. I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but hyper x cloud alpha wireless. Astro A50s are also exceptional.

Closed back. Wireless. PU leather ear pads. My go-to is the A50 X but I use the source switching in my homelab. Add mod kit and you're pretty sealed from your home environment for that immersion factor. People will argue you can get much better for less, you can, but you are asking about a gaming headset for maximum immersion. I have headphones I use to hear angels whisper when listening to music but they aren't necessarily good for gaming (or immersion). Good luck with your search!

X with source switching is a huge W. Found an EQ that made them much better for FPS, G Hub still annoying but you don’t have to leave it running 24/7.

I'm harsh because these fucking redditors tricked me into thinking the Maxwells is a godlike headset that blows the competition out of the water, but the headset has some major flaws and I want to offer a differing opinion to anyone who's considering buying them. With that said, you may not find them as uncomfortable as I did, but I genuinely hated them. I ended up getting the Astro A50 instead. The sound isn't as good, but they're comfy as fuck compared to the Maxwells.

Equally surprised by the quality of gen 4 optically with Dolby, it’s a delight. And it is much cheaper than the x50. For your information, I have a Logitech g533 nearby and it is not as good! On the Astro the sound is louder, the bass the same!

For wireless gaming headphones specifically -- I've had the G Pro X's, Steel Series Arctis 7, and Astro A50. Out of those, I'd probably choose the Logitechs However, I've since moved onto using IEM's + Antlion mic. If wireless isn't a deal breaker, I'd recommend IEM's. Don't really need noise cancellation with IEM's if they fit properly + great/raw positional sounds (I play CS and Valorant). Personally, I hated the over filtered EQ sound from all the mass marketed gaming headphones. Also IEM's don't jack up my head/hair with a headband dent FWIW, a lot of pro gamers use IEM's, however they wear their gaming headphones on top over them either for sponsorship purposes or another layer to block ambient noise

Ive had both the new astro a50x and the steelseries pro. Astros sound quality is by far better, but i hated that I had to connect all my devices to an hdmi switch so I stayed with the steelseries. They aren't my favorites but after dropping 200 dollars each in headsets that retail over 350 that dont have a direct connection to my console it was starting to get frustrating. I also heard mixed reviews about the audeze so never got them.

How do they last only1-2 years? I’m running on year 5 of my Astro A50

I went through two sets of A50 headsets (Version 4) in the last couple years. The first one I dropped on a hardwood floor and they shattered. The second set just died and I am currently waiting for a battery to get delivered to see if I can revive them. I love the fact they sound great and are light on my head, but I feel like they are way to expensive for what you get. If I can't replace the battery easily (mainly worried about getting the correct one from online retailers) then they are definitely not worth the price. Since you have tried a few, what would you suggest as a upgrade or comparable model? Usually I'm playing online with friends in COD, Valheim, and BG3. Want something light, durable, and that sounds good. Why is this so hard?! 

Astro a50 will do the job

I own the Delta 2 and tried the A50X i have big ears so the way the Astro's are made isn't great for me. Both mics are awesome. I think the Astro is less boomy. Sound quality, the Delta 2 is pretty neutral so it's easy to eq them. Of you like a lot of bass, the Astro will have the advantage. Clarity, I prefer the delta. Three connections for the Delta abd they're working pretty well. Of you use them on console, the mic is pretty good. Sound too with dolby. The battery last a fn long time too. I will try the Astro again someday, but as of now, I am more than satisfied with the Rog Delta 2

Please stay away from ASTRO (at least their wireless ones, they are garbage, the wired ones are just not really worth the money but at least fine to use). The only gaming branded actually good headsets I know of are from beyerdynamic mmx (f.e. Mmx 300) series and partly steelseries arctis series. Also: an actual headset or headphones? Headsets in general are much less worth the money because of the mic, if it's actually needed fine, but if you have an external mic anyways I really wouldn't get one. Also consider if wired is an option.

Yea I had a a40 once (in exchange for the God knows worst audio device I ever had - a50) without the mixamp. Yea don't go with them, I was just giving some options, I'm myself full on iems because price to performance is just leagues away.

I can literally walk around my two story home and into my garage and outside my house with the headset still working. Are your walls made of lead?

SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (best overall, dual batteries), Astro A50 Wireless (great surround sound), Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (lightweight, THX audio), Corsair Virtuoso RGB XT (premium build), and Logitech G Pro X Wireless (comfortable, well-balanced sound). Arctis Nova Pro Wireless or BlackShark V2 Pro are best for avoiding extreme volume spikes.

the new astro a50 are mid for its price im considering getting a new headset had them for two years have had many problems

It’s definitely not a budget headset, but if you have the means, I’ve got the Astro a50x and they are the best headset I’ve ever owned. Seemless switching from Xbox, PlayStation, and PC (there’s a button on the headset to switch between the 3 and it’ll change your hdmi input and switch voice chats) best mic quality on the market in regards to a headset, 16 hr battery life that takes 45-60mins to charge fully, I could go on and on. Amazing headset. One of the ones that will last you as long as you take care of it

Astro is better than Steelseries

Steelseries is better than Corsair. In the wireless gaming headset space: Audeze Maxwell >>> Astro A50 > Fractal Design Scape > HyperX Cloud Alpha/Steelseries Nova Pro > Everything else Maybe I don't know or have overlooked some smaller brand though. Maxwell is huge and heavy and might not be that comfortable but it's just overall a very good headset. If you are willing to go wired with a mic, then after Maxwells you can squeeze in Sennheiser/EPOS pc38X and Beyerdynamic Tygr 300 R If you are willing to go no mic wired + separate mic if needed then a whole new conversation appears that outperforms any of the gaming headsets at actual gaming.

I actually havent tried the surround on my Pro X in the past year, so I’ll give it a go tomorrow again! I have had Astro A50, Sennheiser Game One and an Audeze-headset (wireless) that was $400 around 6 years ago. Absolutely hated Audeze, mostly because it was BT only (no dongle), so couldnt utilize the best quality of the mic and sound at the same time. Sennheiser was (back then at least) open headset, and I hate that - since I like to close out other sounds while gaming. Astro was actually superb, but horrible surround - but again, this was years ago (and before they was bought by Logitech).

I personally have 4 pairs of the Astro a50 I purchased off eBay as used. They are all returns because the firmware needed updated. Takes about half an hour to figure them out and they were purchased for less than $50 USD per pair. All of my children use them and beat them up and they are going strong and the sound is good.

Have owned the A50X since launch and have not had one issue with it at all. Easy to use, easy to navigate the ghub app, battery still lasts long. No complaints and have loved it since.

I'll get hate, but I have used Astros for the last 15 years. I cannot use a different headset. Everything else just sounds bad to my ears when compared. Can they be unreliable? Yes Are they expensive? Yes Is there better? Yeah probably for the majority of people. However, I have tried to switch every time my current astro set dies and every time I just return the headset within a week because the sound quality just seems awful. I have astro A50s and I've been using A50s since I was 15, I'm now 31.

They're expensive and bulky. They're one of those brands people love to hate regardless if they've ever owned a pair or not.

Yupp rocked the A50s for 3 years and idk if it's just me but they were hot and gave me so many issues with the software.

I returned my A50s when I got the series X. I don’t know why they got rid of the optical port. Arctis Nova Pros have been solid for me since.

I'm not an expert, but both having 50mm drivers doesn't really matter all that much Same size driveds can still have massively different qualities I haven't owned the Delta 2 but I have had several headsets from several makers over the years. Got the A50 Gen 5 for Christmas and it blows everything else away

Astro A50 has great battery life and mic quality, also super comfortable. Haven't tried the new ones, but my old ones lasted 10 years. Can still use them but the mic arm is starting to crack so keep them as a backup now

Nah. Everybody's ears are different, bro. To each his own. I've just always found Astros to be egregiously overpriced for how they sound.

I’ve had both but went with the Astro as my keeper. The Asus are very good with a mic almost on par with the Astro. I just preferred the comfort of the Astro and also the pads. While the Asus had two sets, I didn’t like the sport fabric ones at all and the leather ones just made the headset too isolating for me. Advantage of the Asus is not being tied to the base station but then again you lost Xbox wireless support. If roaming around using Bluetooth away from the bases station isn’t a priority I’d stick with the Astro.

Certainly the best, but the worst parts are static noise, bluetooth in the dock itself and stock earpads are meh.

Ive had the Astro headsets gen 4 a50's with the base station for 3 years now. Honestly time with them hasnt been great with the head clip always popping out now unless I 3d print a thing that fixes it. And I wanna get a new pair Im not really wanting to get Astros a50 again if the clip is just as bad. But im unsure if I can spend the 200 I think it was originally. Overall im uncertain cause I'm just worried about the quality. It'll be use for gaming with buds and myself single-player. Just looking for suggestions. I guess max price is 200? Maybe 250.

Thats basically the answer I was hoping for. I got them same day with Amazon so they already feel SO much better. Hopefully it works great.

I’ve only read the Alienware pro wireless headset has good reviews but the mic isn’t good, Astro a50 gen 5 or X versions are a good blend of comfort and decent sound, but rely on a dock. Maxwell is heavy so factor that in, sounds great with some EQ.

I had it and it's decent. I could never get the sound exactly how I wanted it so I decided to return it and got the Astro A50 gen 5. The A50's sound is amazing, very happy I traded.

This is the Q I had. I never got on with the Pros as I prefer an open back feel and I found a sweet spot using the Stealthz pads from WC but the anc nub touching my ear was annoying as hell I use the A50 gen 5 now and happy with the open back sound But intrigued if the elites solve all the things that annoyed me about pro: bad transparency mode, anc nub (fixed), and no mobile app for console folk
