Would go for hyper x cloud wireless, its good sound good mic and not over expensive, arround 100 a 120.

Just bought my son his 2nd pair and I have one too. Probably tried 10 others over the years and never been as happy as hyper x

This is definitely the best choice for a 17 year old. I've had nicer headsets, but I come back to the clouds.

To be honest, i’d rather get cloud alpha wireless, only problem that you would encounter is cloud 3 has better mic, that’s it. For me it was a no brainier since it was like 20€ difference in price (both new).

Well, i have had for the last 6 years, or 7, the HyperX Cloud Alphas. Wired headphones, but barely last year, my ear pads went bad and my mic is kind of less audible, however i found pads to be easily changeable, in my country a set of pads is like idk, 10$, or 8€ something like that, and i found an unused mic, for like 15$. Extremely comfortable, my ears were never hurting, unless the pads go all squishy and bad. They are a bit on the heavy side, but i have dropped and kicked and yanked them out a few times over the years and all i can say is my previous table got chipped by these headphones. Sound wise, they are good. Works well for music but they shine in gaming. Very clear position of sound and i found myself turning my head in CSGO purely based on sound, so i guess they are accurate. Only problem i am facing currently, but i think it's more a windows problem, is that at max quality on 32 bit, i get earraped, but there is no noticeable difference between 32 bit 192k and 32 bit 174k. For this specific headset i'd give it a 9/10.

Hyperx cloud wireless. Battery lasts for, i kid you not, like 6-10 months. Mic is good. Its comfortable.

I would avoid Arctis Nova, as other people already said they don't last very long, go for HyperX-Cloud-Alpha, the metal beam is not going to break on you and they sound great!

If those are your only option I'd take either the Cloud Alpha or G Pro X, probably the Alpha as it is really comfortable. As other's have said though, none of these are particularly good. Unlike what others have said, there are good gamer brand headsets out there like the LucidSound LS50x, Logitech G Pro X 2, Astro A50, a few EPOS models. They're just generally overpriced. Like the G Pro X 2 is a really good $100 headphone with a $20 mic selling for $250. The LucidSounds are a bit pricy new but very cheap on the used market. The LS50x or the little brother LS35x can be found used for under $60 and $40 respectively and will beat anything on your list. Sennheiser Game One's can be found for under $60 and are another step higher, they're the headset version of the HD 598. In general, you can almost always buy a new headphone of equal or better quality + a desktop mic for a lot less money than a new headset. The main exception is the Audeze Maxwell which is frankly way better than standalone wireless headphones at its price. The PC38x is also competitively priced on sale, it's right between the HD 599 and HD 560S in quality.

It's all relative. Considering his restrictions, I'm guessing he's found a cheap thrift store and that's his selection. A HyperX Cloud Alpha or G Pro X may be bad products at $150, but at $20 they're both excellent headsets.

No problem. The G Pro X has better directional audio for shooters but the Alphas sound better overall and is extremely comfortable on my opinion. 

HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless, i have these for a while and the best ones i used in my 20 years of gaming. battery last a loooong time and the headset doesn't get annoying after hours of wearing. Mic quality is the worst on the headset but thats on most headsets, better to buy a stand alone mic if you need mic quality. (which he already got)

Hyperx cloud 2 or alpha, best quality price ratio.

Exclusively out of these options, I’d get the HyperX Cloud III wired and call it a day. Cloud Alpha is good if you want a lot of bass but I personally don’t like the bass drowning out the other frequencies, which it does from my years of using it.

I think they're definitely 'good enough'. Especially for wireless.

Yeppp. I game daily and charge it from 30% - 100% every 2 or so months. Only downside is the radio signal dies if I leave my room but doesn’t really matter

I currently use a hyperx cloud alpha for work. I really like it, it's comfortable, decent sound quality, insane battery life (can go weeks without charge), and the 2.4 ghz wireless range lets me walk around the entire house without losing connection. But the one downside is there isn't any multi-device support, so I need a separate headset for my gaming PC. I've actually been thinking about getting the steelseries headset you mentioned for exactly this reason lol

I use mine like 12 hours a day and I charge them like every 8 weeks or so. When I got my alphas the sound was terrible but with some research I found how I could tune them to sound amazing. If you like to walk around the house with your headset on then I must admit that the alphas have pretty bad range.

just find the «oratory1990» subreddit, find your headset, and tune it like shown in a viable software and it’s most likely going to sound much better than before

Depends what you value more/how much you want to spend Alpha hyper x are very practical, 300 hours of battery is pretty awesome. Sound out of the box is a lil off, but with EQ adjustment it's a beast for the price. Your mic quality will be very average, more than fine for discord but not recording/streaming (mic quality is pretty rough with wireless headsets compared to corded) Arctis pro is also a really solid choice, I think the mic is a good improvement over alpha, and while the software is pretty bloated, it is better than hyperx. If you don't want to tweak with EQ and appreciate the mic quality, go with these. You can get a desk mic but that kinda contradicts the point of wireless. I like being able to talk to my mates while I'm doing shit, so I want the mic with me. But this is also an option if this isn't super relevant to you

I just got the Cloud Alpha as well and love it! I think it fits the bill as the best "gaming" headset easily.

The battery life on those is just crazy good.

Hyper x cloud Alpha are gosted. Had them for 5 years now and they've never hurt my head or ears, and no noticeable dip in audio quality

This is the answer. Plus the battery lasts an obscene amount of time. I use mine 2-3 hours per night and I think I charge them...twice per year? It's unbelievable.

For sure, I notice the range issues too. I haven't had to tune them much but maybe will look into that. I usually use a set of monitors now, but if the baby's sleeping or I need to be quiet the alphas have been perfect for me.

My Hyperx cloud alpha headphones are great. Very long lasting and sound very good.

Cloud Alpha is the only decent one here, the rest are meh and Razer audio products are actually awful. There are better options than these that cost far less.

Most gaming headphones are just cheap headphones sold at a higher price due to rgb or branding. Even cheap studio headphones would be far better. The old HyperX products like Cloud 2 and Alpha are based on studio headphones so they're not bad. Their new stuff is awful, though. And Razer in particular has the most overpriced headphones I've ever seen. SHP9500 would be far better than all of these and probably cheaper, too

That's just the truth. Same thing with keyboards, if someone has ever tried a good mechanical one and a membrane one, they'll know right away which is better. It's the same with headphones. This is coming from someone that has tried half the headphones on this list and only Cloud Alpha is decent, at most. A 20 dollar IEM will beat all of these, and I'm being completely serious here.

They're right. That's why I said all their new products are bad. But Cloud 2 and Alpha were made before the acquisition. Their newer iterations may be less durable and feel cheaper but they still retain the same sound. That is to say, decent overall, very good when compared to other gaming headphones. The Alpha especially.

Tried the hyperx alphas for a few days, I like the audio quality. But I disliked the tightness on my ears and my buddy complained about the mic quality.

I use the hyperx cloud alpha headset. The first pair I had used for 3 years before i dropped them on the ground and broke a speaker. I promptly bought another pair the next day. I'm unsure of how they compare to others, but I like em and have no reason to shop around

I like the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless purely for its insane battery life.

I used my cloud alpha headset for 3 months, light gaming a few days a week, before having to charge them for the first time. I kept waiting for the batteries to run out and they just kept going! 😆

Maybe the Fifine H8? Its below 50. I had the Hyper X Cloud Alpha, until it broke from my dog chewing on the mic. Was going to buy that one, but opted-in for IEMs for convenience, since I wear glasses and for the particular sound design I preferred.

I'll second this, but I also gladly trade a little bit of sound quality for a weeks worth of battery life. Its insane how many hours you can get out of a single charge.

I bought the HyperX Cloud Alpha S years ago and it’s very comfortable, although sound quality isn’t the best. I’d still rather use my Bose QC headphones over it.

Hyperx alpha is pritty good, but Sennheiser hd 560s with dolby atmos sounds much better.

Sucks how Hyper X sold out, their quality dropped off HARD, I've got my OG Hyper X Cloud Alphas and they're still going strong after 5+ years, wish I had grabbed 2.

Hyperx headsets have been really great for me. The wireless Alpha, Cloud 2, Cloud 3, and Cloud Flight are all really great sounding and comfortable headsets. Haven’t had issues with the mic.

I have a pair of IEMS that work great but they irritate my ears after so long so I switched to hyperx wireless and they are pretty good. Not as good as my cheap iem’s but they get the job done and are way more comfortable

I love my cloud alpha s, but I've been struggling to get replacement ear cups from amazon. I've been sent several wrong sizes and every page says they are compatible with my headset...

I hate open backs. I just got the cloud alphas wireless. Insane battery life, decent sound, mic is okay, and wireless. Pretty much all you need in a gaming headset. I’m an audio nerd but I hate wires more.

But I think it's audio isn't great. Like good, but not great as you could get.

As someone who has a partner in the same room as me, when we game at the same time, it's very nice. So that way, we can mute each other in game and not be reverberated over each other's microphones but we can still hear each other just fine. Mic monitoring is peak for couples, in my opinion.

It basically captures all the audio your microphone catches and plays it back through your headset. So someone else is talking in the room loud enough for your mic to pick up(or your breathing into your mic lmao) you'll hear it though your headset.

I've been using the Cloud Alpha for about 6 months, normally 3-4 evenings a week, charged them twice. Very comfortable and sound quality is crisp where you need it to be, not had any complaints from friends with regards to mic quality either.

I agree with this. I use hyperx cloud alphas. They are normally 99 but can catch them on sale for about 75 most of the time and they last roughly 2 years. I always have a brand new pair sitting in my closet cause I just order an extra when I catch them on sale.

Eh it's not that crazy. The only issue is the wire connection starts to act up. They still work. But you can't buy just the wire either so you replace the whole thing. Honestly for good headphones that are comfortable and last 2 years I feel like 75 isn't really that bad.

Oh for sure. Find what's comfortable for you and go with it. It's just the cable that wears out on it though. I'm sure there are better ones out there but for me they do the job.

im using hyperx cloud alpha and i can barely hear the footsteps i feel like i should've gone with audiophile in same price years ago.

After years of disappointment and breakdowns from steel series, JBLs, turtle beach, Logitech, I got a pair of hyperx cloud II as a gift and have never bought a different brand since. The sound, comfort and build quality is top notch, and the battery life on my newest cloud alphas is amazing. I'm not shit out of luck if I forget to charge them for a day.

I had the hyper x cloud wireless and the steel series arctis pro wireless. Hyper x cloud sounded trash and broke very easily, arctis pro wireless sounded great but the dock station and batteries kept breaking I had to use them with a wire sometimes.. then after like 6 months they cracked after I dropped them and I could no longer use em. Can’t recommend any of them at all. Have been using the wired Epos H6PRO and they have been Amazing, great sound, great durability. I dropped them so many times by yanking them with a chair by the cable, good as new after 3 years

You should ask this in the headphones group. I was like you for a long time and have tried lots of headphones including the hyperx cloud alpha or cloud II (before the company was sold), the blackshark v2 pro, logitech g pro x and g935. Anyway, the hyperx cloud alpha electrocuted me multiple times, it's a huge health and QC issue which is known if you google it. I got my money back from the store I've bought under warranty. They found the same issue with the headphone. I didn't have a rug under me or anything. Cloud II's left sound went dead after 2.5 years of use. My blackshark v2 pro broke at the hinge just after the warranty expired. The logitech g pro x was just bad sound quality and mic quality for me and sold it. The g935 lasted for the longest time for 5 years but the mic and sound quality was bad. Many people recommended me to just use studio headphones and buy an external mic. So that's what I did. I researched what to buy first and some guys said to wait a couple of months until the new DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition comes out from Beyerdynamic. My jaw was dropped... The sound quality is just a whole different level. It's just so good compared to a gaming headphones... The build quality is superior, the clamp force is much lower than my blackshark v2 pro was and it's way more comfortable. I'm tall and have big head and ears so it was a worry for me if my ear fits or if it's going to fit my head but no worries, it fits perfectly. I cannot recommend enough a studio headphone for anyone who wants more build quality, audio quality, comfort and more importantly, more usage. It's known that a DT 770 Pro in general lasts for a decade, I'm sure the DT 770 Pro X LE is just the same. There's no gaming headphones that last as long as this. Sennheiser and Audio Technica also has good studio headphones if you want, check some of them out.

Love hyper x cloud alpha. I find the dual drivers sound way better than Steel artis i returned a pair of arctis for that reason, music sounded meh, and then hyper x surprised me.

I brought my first pair of cloud alphas back to life with wicked cushions replacements on amazon as well. So I have 2 pairs again. When your ear cups wear out, highly recommend them. Didn't affect the sound at all, and they are super comfy.

How is the Hyper X cloud so low on the list? I own one and everyone who I know that games on PC has one of the cloud headset models.

Isn't HyperX gone to shite since they have been takimg over? I have a pair of blue Cloud Alpha S and I was looking to change them since I have them since 2019. I was reluctant to do that just because ppl were complaining about the product quality that has chaned sine the company was taken over by HP from Kingston. Any recommendations, please?

Dude late comment but i bought the hyper x cloud revolver s in 2018 when i built my pc and its the most durable amazing headset ive ever owned and they dont make it anymore and the new cloud alpha is fucking ASS.

hyperx cloud alpha, good sound quality(compared to other gaming headphones), well balanced tuning with slight bass boost, very good mic, comfortable for long sessions, extra points for being well built

I have the HyperX Alpha Cloud S (USB wired) and can strongly recommend. Regardless of where you look, wireless headsets/headphones will usually catch a lot of flack. Even if you're not an audiophile, there is an undeniable quality difference between wireless and wired. If it really doesn't matter to you, then by all means go with the wireless version. I got mine on a Prime deal for 50% off and it's been the best headset I've gamed with yet. Only time I take it off is for better headphones for music

Still use it regularly and they sound great. Not sure what reviews you've read or issues that others have reported but as far as audio quality and mic quality goes, it's a fantastic headset. A few things I've run into: 1) thought one of the headphones was dying, turned out to be the headphone jack had slightly worked it's way out of the plug and just needed to be pushed back in fully, 2) due to the sturdiness of the materials, they were a bit tight initially, but I took someone recommendation to "stretch" them by putting them on a basketball for a few days (or something similar in size to force the band open wider) and it worked out perfectly, and 3) had to replace one of the ear pads because it was tearing at the seams - not even a big deal just personally bugged me so I swapped it out very easily and I know it was caused by my usage (I tend to wear them DJ style, one on and one off, because the external sound dampening is so good that it was annoying my wife that I never responded to her cause I legit couldn't hear her). Still strongly recommend, great gaming headset

Ever since HP took over the build quality has went down drastically across ALL Cloud headsets. I have had Cloud Alpha S headphones for a little bit more than a year. They are covered in hot glue on the sides, because the plastic breaks off by itself during usage. The headband's material is ripping apart, my leather ear pads have broken apart recently as well (sews broke, and later on some ring that kept it from falling out of the spot). 1 year of usage, and the thing looks like I've been torturing it for the past 6 years. Apart from all of that, the sound quality is nice. Some of the best in terms of "gaming headphones" IMO. They are comfortable too. But that's really just about it. These are the only things that made me keep those headphones, because they just sound so nice. I'm confident my 3D printer would produce more durable replacements for those broken plastic parts.

Ya I tried the beyers 770 and sennheisers 560s and didn’t like them compared to my hyperx cloud alphas. They are great.

Hyper X Cloud II Alpha? or maybe theres some better Hyper X's out now, those were rated quite highly for FPS when I bought mine... I specifically got them as a counter strike tool to accurately hear the 3D position of footsteps and they served there purpose rather well... wireless too :)

I have a cloud alpha. It's been in use for like 4 years, got replacement pads and here we are still rocking it. Altho I'm adding to my setup a Superlux HD-330

I use HyperX Cloud Alpha - they last over 100 hours on a single charge, so with my usage I need to charge them once in 3 weeks. Sometimes even longer

For 200USD, with high isolation preferred, your options are relatively limited. I used to be a very firm closed-back only user. Skip the first chunk of text if you want actual recs I can't recommend *any* closed back, wired headsets. You're better off buying a separate microphone - Modmic is the most common for a true headset-like solution, but *I don't recommend that either* when you can buy an AT2005USB or ATR2100X-USB and a mic stand for less. In fact, your HyperX Cloud Alphas are arguably the best closed back wired headset in this price range. Popular picks include the new Fiio FT-1, the older AKG K361/K371, and the venerable Beyerdynamic DT770. When it comes to DT-770 variants, problems quickly arise - The DT770 with the black pleather earpads, the 770-M, has the best isolation, better than the other headphones on this list, but have *absolutely garbage bloated mid bass* with very little sub bass rumble for most people. When people talk about the DT770 they're referring to the standard DT770-32 or DT770-80 which have velour earpads. These pads are cheap, relatively soft, but provide not that much isolation... you would be better off with a different set of headphones. Oh, and one other thing... no detachable cable. You're stuck with the really heavy and long stock cable until it gives out. The Fiio FT-1 is by far the most *quality-sounding* piece of gear on the list, especially if you like bass, but the problem is that it's a bass ported set. You won't have perfect isolation, but in exchange the bass sounds great (according to other people - I haven't tried it myself.) It also comes with hybrid earpads, which is good for *comfort* but bad for *isolation*. The K361/K371 isn't without problems either. They have poor durability, it's just a poorly designed chassis. The hinges usually give out quickly. The isolation is also average at best for a closed back, and the bass is also "just okay". I wouldn't recommend these for metal because guitars sound really off unless you use something like AutoEQ's profiles, which have their own problems like really messing up the treble by default (you have to change this manually). "So, RZ, what the hell should I buy?" I got you. There are three options. The first is still the Fiio FT-1, because comfort is king over all else. It fits a wide variety of head sizes and doesn't have excessive clamping force according to most users. The second, is the Shure SRH-440A, which is a non-ported design with pleather earpads, however I have heard it can hurt the top of your head (I haven't experienced this personally). The third option, if you're comfortable with a fixed cable, would be the old MDR-7506 with Yaxi STPad2. At least it isolates better and has cleaner bass than the normal DT770... and it's not awfully expensive. Feel free to ask questions.

I use gaming headphones. If you want something cheap that works, the Somic G951S gaming headset is great. The HyperX Cloud Alpha, Logitech - Astro A50 X Lightspeed are other more expensive headsets that are worth the money.

I had the same things happen with some budget Bluetooth headphones from Amazon. They ended up falling apart after a couple years (not bad for $40…) and I bought a HyperX wired set https://ca.hyperx.com/collections/gaming-headsets/products/hyperx-cloud-alpha?variant=41134999535776. Have enjoyed it since. Not sure about the PS5 side though. It has a very long cable extender and I’m able to work at my desk and walk over to the rig with it plugged into one spot. Might meet what you’re looking for?

I had a HyperX CloudS for 4 years, then I switched to the HyperX Cloud Alpha and it is a dream. 300 hour battery life means I can charge it once a month after using it for work and gaming every day.

I just got an HyperX Cloud Alpha after having a Cloud II for 7 years. I wouldn't suggest anyone buying anything from this brand, I heard there was a noticeable quality dip after HP bought it. The Alpha is possibly the worst headphones I've ever tried sound quality wise. I'm not anywhere close to an audiophile but it's so bad that anyone coming from a functional pair of headphones will spot the difference. It even gives me headaches. I have to order another one due to how bad these are.

Been rocking the HyperX cloud Alpha wired for like 4 years now, so happy with them! Before them i had some 60$ razer headphones that fell apart (typical razer product that isn't a keyboard)

HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless is so damn good. 300 hour battery, forget it’s even on it’s so light. The built in mute button that lights up at the mic so you can see when it’s muted. The ability to unplug the mic and swap it if it ever goes bad. Honestly love it

It has surround sound, I also play CS2 constantly and it’s incredible for hearing footsteps. I’ve been playing CS for 20 years and am a DG. I’ve used HyperX for the past 8 years and both headsets I’ve had are amazing. I had the Cloud II before. My old headset still works beautifully too, my wife now uses it. I’ve had the Wireless model for almost 3 years now

I really liked the HyperX ones. UNTIL THEY BROKE!!! The plastic on the side shattered just by normal usage, now the right ear cup won't go back into the housing. Very unfortunate.

Mmx Wireless 200. really can’t go wrong with that. The mic is amazing, sound quality good. Only downside is it’s pretty ugly but who cares Also had the hyperx wireless ones but sent it back because the audio quality is worse than with the mmx and also the hyperx didn’t have Bluetooth. So you couldn’t connect it to a phone or other devices without the dongle

Cloud alphas are so slept on

I have a HyperX Alpha wireless headset. I love the sound the comfort, and generally the whole headset. I don’t know the mic quality cause I use an Auna mic, but I guess that’s good too. At least detachable 😃 Oh and the battery life is truly amazing!!

I got my cloud alpha wireless back in 2018, and they still freaking work like a char. Neither the sound of the headphones nor the battery have gone bad, I even had to replace the cushions and the headband because they started to peel off. Best 100 bucks I have spent easily. I had logitech, sennheiser, razer headsets... some of them were well above 200 - and all of them broke after a while. This is waaay beyond impressive to say the least

one thing, 300 hour BATTERY LIFE.. The Hyperx Alpha Wireless.. you like NEVER have to charge it. It works great and you never need to worry about it dying when you in the middle of a raid or something. My hubby and son each have a pair and they literally put their headphones on charge like once a month if they remember, for a couple hours. They have had theirs for about 2 years now and still in love with them. Good range too, my husband can walk into the garage from the gaming room still talking to people on discord. Once you try these you won't want another wireless headset that you have to remember to charge everyday.

HyperX Cloud Alpha wireless has 300h hour battery life (assuming you put volume on low) but after testing it its like more 150-200h. Has survived a dog attack but some aestheticall parts started failing after 1.5 years. Would have recommended 1 year ago but since HP bought it the build quality has down hill. Get if you want battery life last 2weeks before you need to recharge.

Maybe I am a bit late on this topic but from what I have heard, the HyperX Cloud series and Logitech Pros are quite good. Or am I wrong and those are not worth mentioning (I am really on the search for new headphones cause the padding on my Hyperx cloud mix are dying)

Not sure who is downvoting me, but I went from a HyperX Cloud Alpha to a Beyerdynamic DT770 and it was literally night and day. Most gaming headphones are overpriced junk with horrible tuning.
