I think a good keyboard and mouse is a key to playing games better. I personally use the 8bitdo Microsoft edition keyboard and 8bitdo Microsoft edition wireless mouse, and absolutely love them
The 8bitdo retro TKL is very unique retro-style board. I like it a lot, just too bulky for my taste so sadly I said bye bye to it a while ago. Keychron boards, absolutely boring and uninspiring. This may sound harsh and discouraging but I'm absolutely butchering them because of how "normal" and "safe" they are.
The 8bitdo is bulky because it has an extra top row plus being TKL xd. \- Despite being plastic (which is very sad, ABS injection mold I assume), its sound profile tries to replicate the hollow, deep plasticy sound of the old Cherry G80 boards lol. The sound won't be the "cream thocky" you are expecting though XD. Polished casing quality. \- Top mount is the mouting mechanism, which is my favourite. \- North facing. Ughhh not a fan since I use Cherry profile keycaps extensively. \- Good software, but not QMK/VIA, needs extra installation aka not my favourite activity, but fairly acceptable since the board needs its own software to deal with the extra connectivity and customizing their knobs and extra keys. \- Stock switch is clicky. You may not like it. \- Good stock keycaps, although seems unorthordox. TLDR: It's unique, I like the retro feels it brings to the table, but it won't be the thing you are looking for in a thocky board. A better alternative is a custom build Classic-TKL from Novelkeys. A very premium plastic retro barebone kit.
damn, i have the same keyboard w/o the numpad, and I really wish I had it. The standalone one is like $50, would've much rather this keyboard, but alas, it didn't exist when I bought

I went through two Razer Huntsman keyboards and now I'm using the 8bitDo Mechanical keyboard with the addition of the keypad that can be used as a standalone calculator.
I just got a K1 Pro a few days ago. My previous keyboard was an 8BitDo Retro which I loved. I've had more keyboards than I can count over the decades. So far this one is bad ass, the switches sound so good to me. I'm pretty sure this sound is what the kiddies refer to as thocky. Most of my mechanical keyboards were clicky, I don't know how to really describe this, it doesn't sound like any keyboard I've had. It sounds wonderful though. I do like how the keycaps are blank on the top and the font's on the front. I use a standing desk so it's a bit difficult to actually see the font, but I can touch type so it's not a really big deal to me. I love that it's metal, I Googled it and it's .3lbs heavier than my 8bit, but since it's metal it feels more substantial. And I don't know how good the software is. But they already get praise from me for it being an 8mb download. I had to install iCUE to change the colors on my Corsair keyboard, and that shit is larger the Windows XP cd lol. And looks are subjective, I realize a lot of people will hate how this looks. It definitely stands out, I rather like how it doesn't look like every other keyboard. Typing on it is superb, the keystrokes are smooth and I can't get over how beautiful the sound is.
