My 8bitdo Retro keyboard was purchased right at launch, used with the 2.4 GHz dongle solely, and after years is still on its initial battery charge while being used occasionally for retro gaming on Raspberry Pi, with a matching NESPi-case and Retro R8 mouse. The 8bitdo Retro Mechanical Keyboard ist available in both TKL/80% and true Full size/100% form factor, the TKL is even being offered with localized ISO layouts in some countries. I genuinely enjoy the clicky Kailh White Box V2 switches resonating satisfyingly in the oversized chunky hollow plastic case, but others may have different preferences. The case itself feels well made and sturdy, like being made from thick, good quality plastic. It is hot swap, but not built modding friendly. The 8bitdo's rotary knobs aren't the nicest ones to touch, but they do their job fine and ratch well. There's also an aluminium case 68-key 8bitdo Keyboard, though it looks like being an expensive limited edition, targeted to collectors.
Me over here rocking an 8bitdo NES keyboard/num pad. Both with tape/foam and box reds
Over I year ago I've posted [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/ErgoMechKeyboards/comments/1e3r64k/logitech_k860_ergo_but_mechanical/), since then my desire to have one ergo, sculpted mechanical keyboard for work and gaming has not weakened. Since then I have bought the Perixx PERIBOARD-835BR and returned it since I really didn't like the typing feeling. I'm not a kind of person who needs military grade alloy with quadruple gaskets to enjoy the keyboard (for my living room PC I use 8BitDo Retro Mechanical Keyboard and I love it), bu the Perix felt like a Fischer-Price children's toy to me. So my requirements are: Must have: 1. sculpted, not split (shaped as close to K860 as possible) 2. wireless with option to connect at least two devices, with support for both Windows and MacOS 3. mechanical, preferably hotswapable 4. negative tilt 5. built in or detachable wrist rest 6. obtainable in Europe Nice to have: 1. 75% or 80% layout, I need function keys for work. If the only option is 100% I can live with it 2. USB dongle for wireless connection 3. Aluminium housing I have two candidates on my list, but non of them is flawless: 1. [Feker Alice 75](https://fekertech.com/products/feker-alice75-qmk-via) \- it is not really sculpted that much, not really have negative tilt and also have read some complaints about software quality and MacOS support. Is anyone can confirm/deny those reports I would be grateful. Apart from that it looks exactly like what I'm looking for 2. [Leobog A75](https://leobogtech.com/collections/keyboards/products/leobog-a75) \- also not that much sculpted. no negative tilt and doesn't come with a wrist rest. It can be bought separately though. Are there any options on the marked that have flown under my radar? Should I just give Feker a chance? The issue with trying those two keyboards is that no European store has them, so eventual return my be expensive in terms of shipping, and will take ages to complete. I've also came across the [Neo Ergo ](https://monacokeys.de/en/products/neo-ergo-ergonomic-alice-layout-mechanical-keyboard-kit)which looks gorgeous, but it doesn't have the function keys row...
The 8bitdo retro TKL is very unique retro-style board. I like it a lot, just too bulky for my taste so sadly I said bye bye to it a while ago. Keychron boards, absolutely boring and uninspiring. This may sound harsh and discouraging but I'm absolutely butchering them because of how "normal" and "safe" they are.
The 8bitdo is bulky because it has an extra top row plus being TKL xd. \- Despite being plastic (which is very sad, ABS injection mold I assume), its sound profile tries to replicate the hollow, deep plasticy sound of the old Cherry G80 boards lol. The sound won't be the "cream thocky" you are expecting though XD. Polished casing quality. \- Top mount is the mouting mechanism, which is my favourite. \- North facing. Ughhh not a fan since I use Cherry profile keycaps extensively. \- Good software, but not QMK/VIA, needs extra installation aka not my favourite activity, but fairly acceptable since the board needs its own software to deal with the extra connectivity and customizing their knobs and extra keys. \- Stock switch is clicky. You may not like it. \- Good stock keycaps, although seems unorthordox. TLDR: It's unique, I like the retro feels it brings to the table, but it won't be the thing you are looking for in a thocky board. A better alternative is a custom build Classic-TKL from Novelkeys. A very premium plastic retro barebone kit.
damn, i have the same keyboard w/o the numpad, and I really wish I had it. The standalone one is like $50, would've much rather this keyboard, but alas, it didn't exist when I bought

Fwiw theyre reliable and the switches are swapable. I got one of the commodore ones on sale and really like it.
I went through two Razer Huntsman keyboards and now I'm using the 8bitDo Mechanical keyboard with the addition of the keypad that can be used as a standalone calculator.
I just got a K1 Pro a few days ago. My previous keyboard was an 8BitDo Retro which I loved. I've had more keyboards than I can count over the decades. So far this one is bad ass, the switches sound so good to me. I'm pretty sure this sound is what the kiddies refer to as thocky. Most of my mechanical keyboards were clicky, I don't know how to really describe this, it doesn't sound like any keyboard I've had. It sounds wonderful though. I do like how the keycaps are blank on the top and the font's on the front. I use a standing desk so it's a bit difficult to actually see the font, but I can touch type so it's not a really big deal to me. I love that it's metal, I Googled it and it's .3lbs heavier than my 8bit, but since it's metal it feels more substantial. And I don't know how good the software is. But they already get praise from me for it being an 8mb download. I had to install iCUE to change the colors on my Corsair keyboard, and that shit is larger the Windows XP cd lol. And looks are subjective, I realize a lot of people will hate how this looks. It definitely stands out, I rather like how it doesn't look like every other keyboard. Typing on it is superb, the keystrokes are smooth and I can't get over how beautiful the sound is.
