Hey everyone, I’m working with about a $200 budget, and I’m specifically looking for a mechanical keyboard. At first I was planning to get the Aula F75 Max, but I decided to stretch my budget a bit. Right now I’m using an Anne Pro 2 (60%). I’ve really enjoyed it, but I never did any maintenance on it, so it doesn’t feel as smooth anymore. I think it’s time to upgrade to something that feels better and ideally quieter. What I’m after: * Mechanical keyboard only * 75% or TKL layout * Smooth + quiet typing experience (leaning linear or silent switches) * Prefer something that’s good stock or with light mods * Open to prebuilt or custom * Considering wireless, but not sure if it’s worth it vs wired What I’ve looked at so far: Initially I was considering more mainstream gaming boards like: * SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL Gen 3 * Razer Huntsman V3 Pro TKL * Corsair K65 Plus Wireless (75%) * ASUS ROG Azoth (NX Snow linear) * Logitech G Pro X TKL Lightspeed (GX Brown) But from what I’ve seen here, those might not be the best value compared to enthusiast options. Where I need guidance: * At this budget, is wireless worth it, or is wired still the better choice? * Should I go custom build, or a solid prebuilt + upgrades (switches/keycaps/mods)? * Any recommendations for boards, kits, or switches that fit a quiet/smooth typing profile? I’m fine with doing basic mods (lubing, foam, etc.), but I’d prefer not to go too deep right away.
thank you for the list, i never heard Hall effect until today, can you recommend me which one is good Hall Effect board under $200?
This comes to the switches the board has. When I had an anne pro (not hotswappable) I took my time and remove all the switches and solder in some hand lubed/filmed everglide Aqua kings. The film overall reduced the wobbling. Some switches already has decent build and great tolerances that filming them is not needed to reduce wobble but with age, time and use, the switches would always end up wobbling. I would personally ditch that keeb and buy a hotswappable board instead. There are lots of great hotswappable keebs, mechanical or hall effect, for less nowadays. I recommend checking facebook market place or OfferUp (if you have it where you live). They usually have great boards there for the low and also ebay. I recently got a zoom65 v3 lift off edition, near mint condition, for a great price.
I have been using an Anne Pro 2 for many years, unfortunately the L key does not work we// anymore. The battery has also seen better days and depletes very quickly. Cou/d anyone recommend me a budget keyboard with simi/ar /ayout that preferab/y has b/uetooth functiona/ity?
i was in the exact same spot a few months ago coming from a 60% board. the keychron v1 max was what i settled on and honestly it's been perfect for both gaming and typing. hot-swappable, solid build, and right around your budget. the [Keychron V1 Max QMK](https://featherab.com/shopit?market=am&search_keywords=Keychron+V1+Max) has been super reliable for my fps games and the extra keys are a lifesaver compared to the anne pro. way less confusing than digging through all those mixed reviews.
My setup is basic, but since you said Endgame, my setup is the Anne Pro 2 with cherry MX browns and my mouse is the Roccat Kone Pure Ultra
I'd say it is way too much, especially if you are new to gaming or don't have a ton of time. These would be my personal more budget alternatives and might even have better performance. Keyboard- AulaF75; any DarkProject keyboard (got 2 in our household and they are GREAT); Anne Pro2 (also got one and it was my daily driver for 5years without any issues). Mouse- I like Glorious Model D (wired or wireless are good); but Steelseries, Logitech or Red Dragon mouses arealso decent and good alternatives. Go with whatever feels better for your hand. Go to IT shops and see if they have mouses to test. Headphones- personally recommend HyperX Cloud II but have heard G733 are very good.
