Keychron is hard to go wrong with. They have a dizzying number of keyboards though, but something like a K5 Pro with brown switches might be what you want. Otherwise you can spend twice as much for something like a Chilkey ND104 or Wooting Two HE. What's the benefit of those two over a Keychron K5 Pro? Well, they're twice as expensive, so they must be twice as good!... Yeah, not really. Unless you're really into keyboards, or need the absolute lowest latency inputs for your sweaty-esports-ing, not much. As long as you get a Keychron with hot swappable switches, it'll last basically forever. The Chilkey is a little easier to open up and modify, and the Wooting has hall effect switches that allow for a lot more adjustability with how the switches behave. But the Keychron is still going to be an excellent keyboard for everyday use and gaming.

If you want to stick with mechanical keyboards, then you'll want to stick with linear switches, especially silent focused linear switches, and get keyboards with a lot of foam damping. You may also want to get a desk pad because a significant amount of noise from mechanical keyboards is actually the sound reverberating through your desk. NuPhy Air75 / Air96 with red or aloe switches, or Keychron K series with red switches for example are reasonably quiet and around the same price as the G413. Both are low profile mechanical keyboards, which doesn't mean they'll be as low profile as a laptop keyboard, but just lower profile than your average mechanical keyboard. NuPhy also have the Blush switches that are exceptionally quiet. There's also the Chilkey ND104 which with the linear switch option and not using the faux metal caps, is almost entirely silent. But it's also over $200.

I have Q6 (wired only) and it is a very sturdy, stiff board with steel plate (replacement pc, fr4, brass and aluminum available). Not sure about the Q Max / Ultra, they have PC plate and more sound insulation layers. They are QMK / VIA (open source firmware). ND104 is better though hardware-wise - it supports all sorts of fun layouts (split shifts, backspace, space, can remove screen / knob for more keys). Native config app is wonky though (I can't upload macros) but VIA app works fine. It is not QMK, has closed firmware. Oh and battery life with the rgb lights off / screen on minimum brightness was 1 week, I'm sure it's a bug. Today I removed the screen since it does not add anything to a keyboard (that took about 30 seconds). I wonder how battery life improves with that. Considering splitting the right shift now.

Oh really? I didn't know about any problems. I'm daily-driving mine at the office. I got the grey one with silent switches. It feels nice to type and is quite silent. Also great machining of the case. I honestly think it's one of the best office-friendly keebs out there. The calculator function also comes in handy at times...

There's nothing really wrong with keychron, but I'd rather reccommend yunzii if you have to stick to the budget If you're able to stretch the budget a bit, ticktype dp104 is a very nice upgrade. Chilkey nd104 is also very nice and what I ended up getting, but they're still working on the software so I wouldn't reccommend it unless you don't mind manually updating the firmware every once in a while

Take a look at the Chilkey ND104. In my opinion it is a better buu than the Keychron (I have a Q6 Max Pro and a Q14 Max Pro). Aweaome board, and you Can get the shine through keycaps you want from the aftearkwr if the standard ones don't suit 👍👍

I have several boards, at varying price ranges. 1. Keychron Q6 Max 2. Keychron Q14 Max 3. Glorious GMMK 3 100% Boardsmith 4. Glorious GMMK Pro (TKL) 5. Chilkey ND104 6. The now discontinued Mountain Everest Max Depending on price point my recommendations would be 3, 5, 1 for the 100% standard layout boards. Why? The Glorious is a great board, but significantly more expensive, if you choose a custom build, than anything else on the list. Do J think it's worth it? Yes. Are there better options? Yes. The Chilkey is an outstanding keyboard. Better, in my opinion, than the Keychron, and has a better build quality. Again, in my opinion. The Q14 is a specific layout, there are few options for ISO in this particular space, and this has been a good board. I do think the quality of this is better than the Q6 too, which is perhaps odd. All have been bought since the demise of the Mountain Everest brans. That board is outstanding. Flexible, incentive, and just good at everything it does 👌 👍 it has been "replaced" by the BeQuiet! Dark Mount, but, for me, it's lost some of its attraction

Also check out the Chilkey ND104. It's a great budget keyboard that would leave room for some better keycaps (the only thing IMO that let's it down)

I've got a Q6 Max, standard build which I've been surprised by. But if I want bang-per-buck I'd go for the ND104 every time. My go-to is a Glorious GMMK 3 Pro with pc plate, KeyGeek Y2 switches and MT3 Susuwatari keycaps 👌

1. Horribly overpriced for what they offer, get blown out of the water by Chinese and keyboard-specific brands. 4. You can leave it in place if you want to. However, extra mouse space -> you can lower your sensitivity -> better fps results, less chance of RSI and less shoulder strain. You can also dump it on the left and use the number pad and the mouse simultaneously when working, which is nice.

For magnetic switches - refer [here](https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vSsjTA29tUSQDgT_FWmvX2nHg17RLzCXdZnBV2pdAWO2SqJmzeNl9EQNc2Yw2Cy4kHjIBcDVVCUgErC/pub) for an extensive writeup and see for yourself from there. In my opinion, they are entirely unnecessary, unless you really want something like rapid trigger. They also really cut down on your available options in terms of keyboards. My first choice for magnetic keyboard would be Tiger Lite 80, but it requires assembling it yourself and buying switches and keycaps separately. For non-magnetic - something like Evo80/Crush80/Bridge75/Womier RD75 + keychron number pad would be good (and you can throw on matching keycaps or change switches if you want to) . Full-sized - Epomaker Galaxy 100, ND 104.
