Corsair products generally don’t die. I’d pick the quality name brand with some use over the aliexpress brand
Regardless of that debate on what kind of keyboard the Corsair is, it’s still a better choice. Some games will ban you for using Hall effect switches. And there’s more to the quality of your keyboard than the technology behind the switch. If it’s a shitty Hall effect you’re in for a bad time.
Are you sure it’s optical? I’m pretty sure I’ve got a k100 rgb and it has cherry reds
All say mechanical my guy https://www.corsair.com/us/en/c/keyboards/k100-series
Literally says mechanical in the name. They’ve got 2 different kinds of mechanical switches, your standard cherry reds and their own opx switch. So it depends on the exact used one you are looking at. But in general the k100 is considered a “mechanical” keyboard because of the kind of switch it takes. Corsair just has some proprietary tech in whatever that opx switch claims to be.
I've had the opposite experience. The switches last 2 years or so, then one fails and you have to replace the whole keyboard or do some soldering. This happend to like 5 of these that I bought myself or a relitive as a gift, so I upgraded to a hot swappable and never looked back. I wouldn't buy this keyboard if it was half this price. Look into something with hot-swappable switches, and it will never fail you.
Not at all, same price point with one offering far more customization with tons more keycap compatibility (mt3, cherry, xda, SA, 6.25u spacebar, etc.) and switch options since it’s hot swap , type feel, type sound, comfort, higher quality material, qmk/via. It’s not even a fair comparison as you’re pretty much getting scammed with the Corsair keyboard at this point. I don’t even have a keychron anymore but it was a damn good entry into custom keebs Wake up, it’s 2026
The stock k100 doesn’t blow the stock Keychron q out of the water. Don’t be silly. The rest of your long drawn out argument is just wrong all the over place. The Keychron comes prebuilt with the keycap and switches. You’re just writing so much with so much error because you’re that triggered about facts. Insane. I can’t believe you actually tried to argue the k100 was a unique piece. The kohaku and the unikorn are unique pieces. You don’t seem to understand what the word silly means, what the word unique means, and blatantly pick and choose what you read in an argument. Now that’s just silly
I literally explained why wtf? No, I just straight compared the Keychron Q series. I never mentioned anything else. JFC. You literally have reading comprehension issues if you think the stock keycaps and switches was the argument I made. I said it’s hot swap and had better keycaps compatibility, try putting a new pair of keycaps on the k100 and find out the spacebar isn’t a standard 6.25u. Try replacing a failed switch. You didn’t even try to bother making an argument against the gasket mounted type feel, better chassis quality and the sound, qmk/via. I literally wrote all this out and you’re making me write it again such a waste of time. Whatever man, convince people to like garbage water because you like garbage water. I really dgaf, I don’t get paid to be objectively right so people can spend wisely
NGL, corsair keyboards might not be the most competitive for stuff like latency, but the build and feel are very high-quality. I have a k70 and a k65 from like 2012-2014 that I just cleaned a year ago and I could not even tell that it's an older keyboard. The only thing that would eventually give it away is the keycaps fading after like a decade. If this was an HE keyboard, I'd buy it right away, but otherwise it's a solid piece, especially if you need macros.
im not sure how you are even comparing the two in this case... it's a specific type of keyboard. It's like how you can't compare this to a wooting in value as the use-cases would be different and they offer different features and performance.
This is so silly. Why are you being snobby about custom keyboards? You can't compare it, this isn't a hotswappable keyboard, but it is a UNIQUE piece. The keychron 100% keyboards are the most generic chinese clone layouts. The ONLY reason to buy these types of keyboards is for the hotswappable factor, but that's a totally different type of use-case. The stock corsair k100 compared to the stock keychron 100% blows the keychron out of the water in build quality, i'm not even sure how that is even an argument...? How can you price a chinese generic keyboard being sold overpriced to a unique piece with unique features and high quality build? If I wanted to build a custom keyboard, I would never buy one of these generic overpriced chinese keyboards with no differences between them and other brands. The argument you're making isn't even applicable because... you still need to buy the switches and the keycaps. And even then, you say it's "custom" but you end up with just the same looking chinese generic keyboard unless you shell out tons of money for... a unique keycap set. Of course having your own "custom" keyboard is nice, but it doesn't even apply to this case? You wouldn't get any of the features or the unique look of the keyboard unless you... shell out $200+ for a real unique keyboard with hotswappable keys, in which case, it's moot because it costs more money which is the point. The only type of keyboard in this price range that makes this one look terribly bad in value is competitive keyboard with HE or TMR for the lowest latency possible, but like I said, I feel like that is a different use-case as well and you won't likely find it in a 100% size.
yes it does come with keycap and switches, but in what world does having stock keycap and switches make it have more value in any way over any other keyboard lol... like that was your argument in the first place which is why it's silly to me. The value of a custom keyboard comes from the customization? Otherwise the stock keychron is just a generic chinese style keyboard that is pretty much the same as... aula, ajazz, redragon, etc. Where does the better value come in? How would you compare that to a unique piece keyboard with unique features and better build quality? There's no way you think the keychron base is better than this one. This one has built in functionality with elgato streamdeck software which is already at least \~$50+ of value imo. I have nothing against custom keyboards, but its silly to compare without saying why? Like in what world is the stock chinese models better than this besides simply being cheaper lmao.
Unless you need/want wireless, K100 and it’s not even close, especially if you go certified refurbished for $125 - https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/certified-refurbished/ch-912a014-na-rf/k100-rgb-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-cherry-mx-speed-black-refurbished-ch-912a014-na-rf
FINALLY something I can review. Will never forget this place for giving me my prebuilt  Big keyboard, feels heavy duty. Corsair's iCue software makes it easy to set up macro's and profiles. Those Macro keys on the side feel and work well. Used them a lot in games. They have a different surface than the rest of the keys. This \*should\* come with "gamer" keycaps for WASDER and others. I swapped out all the Keycaps with "clear" ones so the RGB really shines. Looks awesome. You can really push the effects on it. BUT, the Scroll wheel thing stopped working after I'd say a year. Until it did, I thought it was amazing. Scrolling long webpages and code with it felt great. It's tactile, like, little "stops" as you scroll. But once it breaks, it's completely useless aside from the button that changes modes. I never got the wheel fixed. I recommend it at this Sale price but not at MSRP - I don't know how easy it is to break but I wasn't going too crazy on it. Any other users want to share their experience with Scroll Wheel breakage, please reply. If it's common enough, I'd totally avoid this even at sale price.
I am sure it's solid but a keychron Q series can be Bought at half the price from woot.
Corsair got me into mechanical keyboards but those prices are just plain ridiculous.
I do feel like the LED screen is too sunken to really appreciate the screen. Overall it's not bad just wish it wasn't sunken in. It's the same issue I have with Razer Blackwidow V4 Pro with the media controls being sunken in and why I still mainly use my Corsair K100 instead of the Blackwidow.
