Why wireless? For me, nothing but Wooting now. Optical is nice, i come from a K100 with Opticals, but they customizability if HE switches is something i dont want to miss ever again. 60HEv2 with Split spacebar is all i never knew i needed
That’s always going to a personal thing. Personally, I think Corsair’s board quality and features outpace Logitech and Razer. Razer and Corsair switch type is about the same quality (for OPX vs Analog Optical Gen 2). For this sub though, both are garbage tier. And I say that loving my K100 OPX that is collecting dust. There are MANY better switches and boards. Hall Effect is the current push, but optical isn’t too far behind if you don’t need “rapid trigger.” Wooting 80HE from a pure performance standpoint (irrelevant if achievable by a human) is probably the best gaming keyboard spec wise, but the build quality and feel is not perfect. Different boards and switches for different folks. If you like flashy RGB and Razer Synapse (honestly why for Synapse though), more power to you. If you don’t, there’s an ocean to explore.
Currently using a Corsair K100 with OPX switches. Love the board but I'm getting gear acquisition syndrome from all these new analog rapid trigger keyboards. I've narrowed it down to the Wooting 80HE, SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL(Gen 3) and Razer Hunstman v3 Pro TKL. The newest version of the Apex Pro is on sale for just £146 atm. I work in a store that has one on display so I know I like the feel of it. The only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger is all the people insisting that the Wooting is SO much better. The Huntsman is only £30 more. I understand the typing experience on it isn't great. The reason I'm considering it is because it has all the same features as the Wooting for much less and on paper it has the best switches of the three in terms of precision and reliability (I'm sure the difference is probably imperceptible). The Wooting obviously has great reviews, but £200 for a plastic board with no PBT keycaps and no wrist rest is... bold. If you want a metal one with all that stuff, there goes another £120, for things that are standard on both other boards. I know the Wooting is the best, but I'm not a keyboard enthusiast. Is it really \*that\* much better than the other high-end boards, or would I be paying for quality differences that my palette is too unrefined to appreciate?
300$ for a high end keyboard is not that much as you think. I've had 95 plat and now k100 optix and not a single issue. 2021.09.16 (MM/DD) and still going strong. Switched the keycaps to pudding ones for more rgb.
Its even more crazy if you think the brand new one that has built streamdeck (hate it or love it) and its still only 320 when a streamdeck itself is 100 and up.
No one knows if the K100 successor keyboard will be released. Corsair releases information about upcoming products at events like Computex and CES, but information about such products(k100) was not released there. The recently released keyboard is a custom keyboard called MAKR75 with a 75% layout. This is currently only available for order from custom lab on the Corsair webstore, and if you choose the full option, it is more expensive than the K100. The K100 Midnight Gold is an optical switch keyboard with macro keys. The K70 PRO TKL uses magnetic switches. The Makr75 is a product that uses regular mechanical switches that are hot-swappable. They all have different characteristics, so refer to the product page before making a decision.
The K100 Midnight Gold is just a special edition. It is not a limited edition. So it is registered occasionally. However, no one knows when it will be registered. It would be better to search other shopping malls like Amazon and eBay. Anyway, if you care about new products that you don't know when they will be released, it is difficult to buy new ones. This is the same everywhere, but anyway, at this point, there is no news about the successor to the K100. And the optical switch is strictly speaking an IR switch. It is a switch that operates when the key is input by the detection state of the IR sensor. Therefore, the input distance is short. Therefore, there are many cases where typos occur due to incorrect keyboard presses, so please refer to it. Also, the k100 does not have the switch lubrication that Corsair recently upgraded or the double damper for noise prevention inside the keyboard. The magnetic switch keyboards that are mostly chosen for recent gaming keyboards are all switches that have the rapid trigger function. This function is only possible with magnetic switches, so if you are interested in such a function, do not choose the k100. The difference between Dark Core Pro and Se is that Se has been upgraded to use Qi charging for wireless charging. I currently own three Darkcore mice, both Pro and Se. There is no difference in anything else. However, the switch of this mouse is Omron's switch, not the optical switch that recent mice adopt, so the double-click issue is bound to occur over time. And the downside of this mouse is that the surface of the mouse is coated, and over time, the coating peels off due to hand sweat or cosmetics. Many Corsair mice have this issue. The recently released ones have a different coating method, so there is no such issue, but Dark Core has this issue. And I personally do not recommend Corsair mice. I used Corsair mice until a few years ago, but not anymore. The problem with the wheel part is that it is a recurring problem across all products and Corsair still has not been able to improve it. Anyway, I'm currently using Razer's Basilisk V3 Pro 35K mouse.
Is the only difference the type of switches used (between the Pro and non-Pro)? How does this compare to my beloved k100?
Thanks! Sounds like if I like my current OPX K100 I should only look at the MGX Vanguard Pro version then
Unless you need/want wireless, K100 and it’s not even close, especially if you go certified refurbished for $125 - https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/certified-refurbished/ch-912a014-na-rf/k100-rgb-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-cherry-mx-speed-black-refurbished-ch-912a014-na-rf
Love my k100 very sensitive like others have said though. Which is a blessing and a curse in and of itself. That and the edges can be… sharp lol
Ive had the k100 rgb since launch and its getting stale now. I think its time to upgrade but i probably cant even get $100 for this thing lol
