I am definitely not an enthusiast on the level of some people in this sub, and until recently only had what in retrospect I'd consider not-that-great mechanical keyboards. I used to own a Logitech g915 and once-up-on-time an older Corsair K63 with red switches, and particularly never liked the latter. I now own a Q1 Max that I've done some light mods on and replaced the stabilizers on. I currently also own a Royal Kludge N80 low-profile mechanical keyboard with Jerzzi browns that I sometimes switch to when I'm on a call and don't want to be as distracting, and it's ... OK, I guess. So sometimes when people describe how something feels or sounds, I feel like I'm in a room with wine connoisseurs describing an aftertaste of sediment and the essence of rain and I'm thinking LOOK IT TASTES RED OK. Which is to say that I'm not sure I notice the nuance they way they do. But as I understand it, banana switches have a particularly early tactile bump compared to browns or other tactile switches, and that seems to match my experience of them. On this configuration, they sound pretty "poppy," if I'm understanding what people usually mean by "poppy" right. There's sort of a bubble-wrap feeling to typing on them that I actually find rewarding. I could see how some people might find them fatiguing after long sessions, but I've never felt that way. I've used other browns and whatever the Logitech low-profile tactile were before, and I find this much more rewarding to type on. I feel a stronger sense of feedback confirming a keypress without it being distracting. I'm not sure I'd like it for gaming, if I gamed primarily on the keyboard. But I type for long hours every day. I tried shifting back to the N80 for a full workday the other day, just as an experiment, and I found it really dull to type on compared to the Q1 Max with bananas.

r/PcBuild • Best budget gaming keyboard? ->Agreed. Way back in 2019 when I bought my k63 I had no idea about switches nor anything and it seems corsair always solders the switches. I don't do much customizing beyond changing switches or keycaps but yes, you can find much better options, even for TKL formats which for some reason is not more popular (my favorite format). Heck, if you are willing to take a risk, you go very much lower than Corsair. I recently got an Elec Fox Linky 87 for like $40 on Amazon. TKL and QMK/VIA hot swappable. So far it's working fine. I don't know if it's going to last long but it's a good and cheap keyboard to get into the customization thing. I'm now on the look for a low profile silent for work. To bad those don't seem to come on TKL.
r/keyboards • Is Corsair K70 Core TKL Wireless worth buying? ->I picked up a Corsair TKL as my gaming keyboard, fell in love with the action. For work, I went cheap with this: Coming up on a year of daily use, no complaints.
