It starts double typing real fast on some keys, reason unknown. If it wasnt for that, it would unironically be one of the top wireless keyboards if you dont care about hotswaping. Sounds and looks are subjective but I loved it, just real pity about the keychatter.

https://www.bestbuy.com/product/corsair-k70-core-tkl-compact-wireless-rgb-pre-lubed-linear-mechanical-switches-gaming-keyboard-with-sound-dampening-black/J39QHTCSGR/sku/6589583 This is a big gamer pick. The switches feel so good to play games on, its like pressing little clouds and isnt overly noisy. It is a compact version so he will lose numpad and extra buttons but he can map them to whatever using the corsair web app. Its on sale at best buy right now. Check reviews!

NO info on new K100, but the MAKR75, K70 PRO TKL and K70 CORE TKL are the latest releases MAKR75, I don't recommend, K70 PRO TKL or K70 CORE TKL if you want RGB sync with the rest of your Corsair components, Other options to consider would be the K70 MAX and the K65 PLUS WIRELESS. May want to consider a Keychron if RGB isnt a concern

K100 is way to expensive I would go if on a budget and don't mind abs and not premium with the k70 core worked well for me but now I'm on k70 max is amazing for it's price premium quality sounds amazing and has nice lighting and a nice wrist rest IMO I would go for k70 max

If it’s these 3 options, the K70 Core. It has lubed switches, quieter acoustics, a more compact design and is the least expensive of the bunch. K100 while feature packed is an outdated and clunky design. K70 Max is decent but the switches can be loud. Note: I have all 3 of these keyboards so I can answer any questions you may have!

I like my K70 Core and it's very comfortable and easy to type on, but it's not in the same category as the other two. Between the K70 Max and the K100, the two obvious distinguishing features are the G keys (K100) and adjustable actuation points on the K70 Max. I don't know how much either of those matter to you. Prices fluctuate a lot, especially since these boards are not recent releases. The K100 has sold for less than a K70 Max and vice versa. Unfortunately, last week might have been the time to buy. I know I can't go very long without my G keys after nearly 15 years of having them. I am using the K70 Max this month and even in standard trim the keys are quick and light. It certainly does have some gaming advantages in that sense. If you have an interest in changing your actuation point height, this is your board. If you do go for the K100, most people will be better off with Cherry Silver. Optical are interesting and I bought that board with them as soon as it was released. However, you need to be really sharp all the time both for gaming and typing. I found I got sloppy as the day went along and 4 years later I replaced it with the Cherry Speed version and I've been happy with it ever since.
