IDK, to each their own but I just couldn't with the aesthetics of that keyboard. I bought the mentioned Corsair tournament edition a couple years back and it was a great buy, still have zero issues. The RGB is beautiful too and all of the keys still work perfectly including the lighting. Longest I've had a keyboard that hasn't had an issue considering how much I abuse it tbh. I'm not a keyboard aficionado though (I just want it to have minimal latency and look nice) so ymmv. I don't even know what you'd use the knobs / screen for. If volume, the Corsair also has a volume knob / dial on the righthand side that you can turn. I guess if you have a usecase for the 2nd knob, you want to replace the keys or you want a screen for something then yours makes sense.
Yep, I own this keyboard and it does have a volume knob / wheel on the righthand side and a mute button as well next to it.
The chatter on my k70 pro mk2 (5 of them due to replacements) sent me to razer. Loved the black widow pro v3 until... it broke. Cheaply made. Now I have had a steelseries apex pro Hall effect for two years... and no trouble at all with it.
Bought and returned this thing is ass… you have to push these keys to their full depth to register and the travel is far. Returned and bought corsairs new K70 pro with addressable actuation point.
Hi, currently using a K70 Pro from Corsair with Corsair OPX switches, my gf is constantly annoyed by the noise. I want to finally take the first step and build my own MK buy I have 0 experience and tools for soldering. I wanna know what I need to build a : 100% full size keyboard ISO FR layout that need to be silent ! I wanna avoid the all black looks, I prefer the white color. Anyone willing to guide me ?
I have the Corsair K70 Pro it’s $180 I know it’s more but honestly look don’t cheap out. Trust me it’s worth the $30 $40 bucks!!
I have tried a lot of keyboards. I like the Corsair k70 pro with clicks keys.
There are three factors to how loud a mechanical keyboard is. The first part is the keys themselves. The keys themselves, how heavy the key caps are, and how you physically type yourself. Some keys are very clicky and make a lot of noise by default. However even a clicky keyboard can be sound quieter if you do not fully depress the keys and type or play games with a lighter touch. Some argue that a good typist does not fully depress the keys, but instead floats across the keys pressing them just enough to activate each key. There is a learning curve to moving from laptop keyboards to mechanical keyboards. With laptops you have short key travels and arguably a heavier required activation pressure. On mechanical keyboards you can range from super heavy activation pressure to feather light activation pressures. Last up are those key caps. the factory key caps on many keyboards are suitable and are of no issue. However you can get ceramic, metal, and even super light weight options that will alter how your keyboard sounds, feels, and behaves. There are silicone key caps, but they are something I can't really recommend as they can get quite dirty with dust and grime over even a few short months. Personally I have a Corsair K70 PRO, and it is whisper quiet, but if I go hammering on the keys it makes more sound than a lap top keyboard. If i float my fingers across and don't fully depress the keys it is barely noticeable. I would recommend it if you want a mechanical keyboard with minimal noise as a stock no modification required option. However it is a hall effect keyboard, and not your classic mechanical keyboard. I would say go to your local PC store, Best Buy, or Micro Center to try out some keyboards before you even buy your next one. If you are not to a PC mecha like I am you can also order switches from all the major players in the switch industry (all the ones recommended in this thread I believe have sampler options). I also like the Cherry MX silent switches as they are generally quiet, but still very clearly clicky like most other mechanical keyboards. Also yes please go visit /r/MechanicalKeyboards they will have more info than even I do, and I have been using mech keyboards for over 20 years now.
Just got it due to Prime day. Extremely pleased but probably wouldn’t buy it full price
