I tried Aula F108 and Epomaker HE 75. The build quality is really good and good value. Nothing to complain for a 80 USD keyboard. However, I found Aula’s LCD on the keyboard shows Chinese at the first place. I needed to play it around and finally found a way to switch it to English. As for the HE75, I returned it. I love HE keyboard but I don’t want to download software anymore. Prefer web based solution now. I would say those China brands offer great value keyboards. But I don’t know how long those boards will last. My Aula performs pretty well. Just the manual is also full of Chinese and I need to find my way out by using Google translate
I mean, in FPS games that still allow it, SOCD is a pretty solid advantage, apparently. There are other features, like DKS that allows you to input like four different keys with one keystroke, or analog mode for games that support dual input. But those can take getting used to. I wouldn't say you're gonna need to train to get used to any of it, but it'll feel a bit wonky for a while, as with any change. As for actuation point, I actually find it quite easy to get used to shorter actuation points — until a point. As soon as I drop below like 1.2 mm, I start making hella errors in my typing. Honestly, you might just be better off getting a keyboard that feels really nice to use and calling it a day. I have four HE keyboards available to me (Wooting 80HE, Keychron K4 HE, Iqunix EZ63, Epomaker HE75 Mag), and I still mostly game and type on my mechanical keyboards. They sound better to me, so they're less distracting, and that motivates me to use them.
MageGee is a budget brand on Amazon. I just saw a cute pastel-y 104 for $20. I have one from them, one from epomaker, and another from redragon. All affordable brands. I've never tried anything over like $60 so I don't have anything else to compare to but they've all been good to me. Only issue is with redragon's logo being a lil... Out of place for the rest of my stuff. That's the one I use at work though so idc too much I use 75% at home but bought a 100% for work because I didn't like the membrane keyboard they provided.
