I like my Keychron, but it's my first and only mechanical so I have limited frame of reference. I needed something simple, no RGB, reasonable price, and an upgrade from membrane. Very happy with it. That said, I don't play multiplayer shooters, so there might be considerations there.
I got a K10 which is a full size as that's what I wanted, but they do TKL/80% variants and other sizes too.
I would definitely go with the K10 Pro but swap out the switches with silent ones. Outemu Silent Peach (linear) or Silent Yellow Jade (tactile) are good.
My gf has one as well and i do for office. Verry good has everything you want.
Well compared to other mechanical boards its pretty silent, ofc its making some degree of noice
Keychron V6 Max or Q6 with Outemu Silent Ice Snow (linear) or Silent Tom (tactile) switches. K10 (I have a Pro) is decent but very basic, no gasket and no knob, a simple tray mounted board. I have Outemu Silent Peach V2s in that. Edit: the quietest silent switches I tried are Outemu Ice Snow and TTC Frozen V2. Both are 40-45g linears, I replaced the springs with 60g ones. Haimu Heartbeat is incredibly loud (for a silent), so is Kailh Whale TTC Bluish and anything that uses those weird plastic bits on the stem instead of silicone pad inserts.
I have two Keychron Q6s, a Q9, a K10 Pro and an Akko 3098B Plus. One for every mood :) Also about 1000 unused switches of all sorts (linear, tactile, silent and non-silent) and 15 keycap sets in the drawer. The K10 Pro for $100 is just as good for work / game as the more expensive ones, the difference is just how they sound and how luxurious they feel (metal case, gasket mount).
Keychron K10 Pro. It has regular reds, silent reds, and browns. I own the silent reds version and I love mine for work. Bought mine for $80 on Prime Day sale, I bet you could get a similar deal on Black Friday.
I got the hype for it when I got my first Keychron, the K10 Pro, but I had just scratched the surface on Mech Keyboards. After using 100%’s for my entire life, I wanted to try something different. I bought the Aula F75 first because I wanted to try 75%, i liked the color scheme, and it was cheap (~$45). There’s a lot of things I like about this board better than the K10 Pro but I realized that the way I type is uncommon (self-taught) and I use the right shift to capitalize all of my letters instead of the left. I have some other areas of concern with the Aula F75, but the main lesson I learned was that my favorite layout size is 80% (TKL). I am now asking for what I am hoping will be my endgame (dream board) for Christmas, which is the MCHOSE GX87. I plan on customizing it with new keycaps and potentially new switches (unless I really like the ones it comes with) as well as disconnecting the battery to run it wired. I really think this board is perfect for me because it’s the only one that I’ve found that checks every single box of what I want in the perfect keyboard.
I like the Keychron K lineup for a more reasonably priced KB, and their Q lineup for high end. I have a Q10 Max and I adore it. Sitting behind me is the K10 Pro. The K10 Max is on sale for 140 right now. Don't think you'd get much better than that for less.
