Keychron v5 max or v5 non max (difference is if you want wireless or not), red switches please, browns have bad feedback like typing in pudding, and blues have good feedback but sound like an m1 garande chain firing under your desk. Then take the 50 bucks your yet to spend and get yourself some nice keycaps to replace the crappy ones it comes with and then spend the rest on some snacks or pocket it cause good caps are like 15, 25 bucks tops
Not to rag on em too hard, but I just didnt like how they felt, the texture. And they arent shine through.. but it has lighting.. so why arent we doing shinethroughs?

I’ve got the v5 max and have no complaints at all. Love it. Everything works well. VIA is great. I wasn’t a massive fan of the look of the keycaps but I actually prefer the feel to anything I’ve used before and now can’t bring myself to change them. I have just had a play about with changing the Jupiter browns to milky yellows as decided I want a linear quieter board for work. Plus the milky yellows lubed up are providing a nice thocky noise. But don’t get me wrong it sounded creamy as heck with the Jupiter browns
As another person said Keychron V5 or V6 if you want the volume knob. I got the V6, I would buy these keyboards if I was spending £100 or £1000. By far the best keyboard I’ve ever used, built like an absolute tank with replaceable parts. I got banana switches, they have a bump right at the beginning of the press so it’s harder to accidentally press a button. I’d never go back to anything else.
Keychron V5 Max. SRGB has custom firmware available for it to flash.
I use a Keychron V5 Max 96% wireless keyboard. Love it so far. Has hot swappable keycaps and switches. It has a great thocky sound. I needed a numpad for my use case so I didn’t want to go lower than 96%. The software for it is also great. I got it under $100 but it’s always between 85-100. Great quality and had a more minimalist aesthetic. Their site can be a bit overwhelming but they have great products over all. I’d recommend watching some videos searching “best keyboards of 2025/2026)” and watch ones with sound tests so you can hear how the keyboards sound when typing. The last thing you want is one that sounds nothing like how you would want it to sound especially if you’re ordering online. My wife and I both game, I wouldn't say extensively, but as much as our time allows. We went through 4-5 Razer Keyboards and kept having switch failures. I went Hyper-X and she went Steel Series, but we ve both recently swapped to Keychron. They are great keyboard, hot swappable, customizable and no bloatware on PC's.
I don't remember the Steel Series Model off the top of my head, it wasn't one of their top of the line boards. My wife uses a V5 and I use the same at work, both with Keychron Pro Reds. For gaming I use a Q6 Max with Gateron Jupiter Banana switches. I like the shorter push depth and tactile switch.
