Need something new. Been gaming on the Logitech Orion G910 for the last nine years but the space bar is now broken. Considering my searching on this sub liking that keyboard seems like sacrilege, I'm hoping to find a good replacement. I'm not against buying a kit of some kind to assemble myself but also too I'd rather do my due diligence for finding a good one. Reasons I liked the G910: 1. I genuinely liked the tactile feel of the keys. Like the bump it had felt like I was actually pressing a button as opposed to a linear key where there's no feedback until its fully compressed. From what I can tell it seems like Glorious Mako's or MX browns are the closest to the roamer G's? But I'm not sure what else I can find. 2. I like having a 100% keyboard. I don't use the keypad every day but when I do use it I like having it. 3. The palm rest on it was nice. I'm not against having a separate one but it was nice to have. 4. Edited in: A metal case would be nice but not required. 5. I'm not going to be an enthusiast here. I play a variety of games but I'm not looking to be heavy into the weeds of building my own legion of keyboards because I enjoy the hobby. Just want something that works well. I just want a keyboard that will be durable, functionally good, preferably not have crap software, and ideally last as long if not longer than the G910 I'm now having to replace. Advice will be greatly appreciated.
Because part of Logitech's business strategy is to develop new, groundbreaking products, and then start gimping the new, groundbreaking part with each new version. Note that the next model in this line had only one column of macro keys, and a slot you could stick your phone into to run a truly sketchtacular app for the display.
I had a G910 spectrum, but unfortunately it was dogshit at being a keyboard. So I'm back to a stock Dell 🤷♂️
I’d avoid Razer products. They’re pretty but they’re software is so bloated and slow it should be classified as malware and in my house we have a 100% failure rate within the first 1-2 years, and we’ve bought a lot of products from them. I like my old logitech G910, but Logitech refuses to fix their software and it’s been nearly a decade since it’s had horrible issues with breaking and needing you to reset all data. I use their more functional old software, but that’s a luxury not afforded to users of their newer products. At this point I might just recommend a brand that doesn’t come with awful software, because it seems like these big companies all push horrible bloated and non-functional software nowadays.
Saddest day was when my g910 died...and then looked at the replacement cost...
My Logitech G910 is double typing on 3 different keys now. I am needing to replace it in the next month. I love how the keys feel but wouldn't mind my replacement to be a bit quieter. Looking for something under $100 (cheaper the better but I respect quality ofc) Should I get another G910 or do you have any suggestions? Thank you!!
I have a G19 and the tilda button has stopped working. I think way back I spilt something in the keyboard. I have opened it up, and can't see any obvious broken paths in the membrane. Can't buy a replacement membrane when I looked into it years ago. Other than that I really liked it, my Orion spark had recently ghosting keys which is so annoying.
Going from G910 to 80HE. Went from a proprietary tactile to linear HE switches. I’d say I feel a little bit more responsiveness since I can pull the actuation up to 0.1 mm. But that doesn’t mean I’m now a pro player don’t get me wrong. I’m just happy that I don’t have the issue of double pressing and having to constantly open and remove 36 screws to get to the board and solder in replacement switches. I only see the switch to Wooting as a convenience upgrade rather than a skill boost upgrade. Buying it because I want to “get gud” was NEVER the intention. I just want a reliable keyboard <$300 that is SUPER modular in case that rare chance I need to replace a part. The times I had to take apart and put together the G910 is something I don’t ever want to do again. Do I miss the programmable buttons, numpad, built in phone stand, volume wheel, and rgb only lighting up just the characters and not the under low as well? - Yes, I do. But the loss features I miss don’t compare to the longevity that I’ll be getting with the 80HE. Wooting is planning on a volume wheel keycap and I’m using a 16 key macropad so I’m covered by those replacement.
