Gaming KB Recommendations. Been using the Nuphy Air96 V2. It’s alright - kinda mushy, need shine through caps, but most importantly, it’s been buggy. I like the low profile but open.to standard height and caps. Don’t NEED the numpad. Looking at the SK75 HE, Iqunix MQ 80, Magi 75, Slice75 HE, Crush 75 and Lemokey P1 HE. Any I’m missing or ones you’d recommend? Note: not a competitive gamer and not a big modder.
Please be gentle, I'm a new to all of this... I recently dove into the world of mechanical keyboards and after a ton of reviews and deciding I didn't want to bite the entire budget at once I purchased the cheapest and best reviewed keyboard available the "Kisnt 85". The thing just feels so premium. It sounds creamy, it's a joy to type on, and really feels solid from start to finish. Using the stock keycaps and what I've only been able to research as the BSUN switches. Not sure what type, weight, ect. All I know is that I'm smiling the entire time I'm typing. Which is pretty much all day. Only issue is that I have a bunch of duplicates because I rest my hand on homerow and it's a fairly light switch I think. So now I'm all in, obsessed and needed something more low profile for my travels. ENTER my first Nuphy which just arrived today. The Air96 V2 with Cowberry Switches...and I must say my experience has been underwhelming? The sound and feel are both so "hollow" to me. Feels "cheaper" if that is way to describe the way it feels and sounds? I'm used to low profile coming from magic keyboards on mac for years but the joys of those BSUN switches have left this one feeling like it may have been a waste or I chose the wrong switch. HOWEVER - I come to the experts on Reddit to help me decipher if there are v2 low profile switches in the wild that may help me achieve the same level of love and joy of my $40 keyboard and those BSUN switches. TIA to all who are willing to listen and help.
Recently bought Air96 v2 with Red 2.0 switches. I like the profile. Really liking it! I've also used Flow2. It was equally comparative. I use Air96 v2 for gaming and work.
Been using the Nuphy Air96 V2 and it lets me switch between my Mini, dell work desktop, and iPad.
IMO the best low profile keyboards are Nuphy Air series, Lofree Flow (lite), Iquinix MQ80 (I would go for for the MQ80).
I have few from keychron and nuphy - all low-profile. I use them everyday home/office/livingroom and I do not even prefer one over the other, all of those are in ANSI layout and this is my preference, got the red switches for, like how tactile those are. I also have Logi MX keys but in local layot and just because of it I do not like it, other than that it is also fine. As for connection - I have the dedicated adapter, BT and cable, depending on the setup - I see no difference in response times while typing or gaming. As for RGB - I apriciate it only in livingroom while watching movies. Oter than that I do not care, I do not look on the keyboard while typing. From wow side - nuphy is much more eye-catching, I got many positive comments about it while using in the office. If you configure something - make sure to have the shine-through key caps, the "behing keys" backlight is rubbish. For config, VIA software - whatever - I never cared about it, function lock was always there, never needed anything more. Except for nuphy v2 - I had to set it,as was F keys by default, but easily done with browser plugin and VIA software, I think it is unified. If you need macros etc - all is linux compatible (except logi - this I have no idea), As for your question: "The best Gaming Keyboard to buy for Gamers now?" I nmy opinion there is nothing like "gaming keyboard". Keyboards can be good or bad. Good keyboard is good for gaming and typing, bad is bad for everything xD
I don't think that fits in your criteria in term of switch and/or size but I had a Nuphy wireless before and it worked with no issue at all (although the battery on it isn't great, had to charge it like every week, sometimes more). I've switched to an 8bitdo keyboard now, same, works no issue out of the box but this one has a beast of a battery...I think I've charged it maybe 4 times? And I bought it in october last year.
Probably the only keyboard thats going to tick all those boxes is the NuPhy Air. It comes in 75 and 96 low profile layouts, 1000hz wireless polling rate, alu frame with injection molded plastic bottom, per key RBG. The only problem is while it is hotswap, as of this comment, I believe that NuPhy is still using proprietary low profile sockets, so it will only fit NuPhy low - profile and a select few Gateron low profiles. I think the quietest NuPhy switch is the Wisteria linear, but as far as I know its not being marketed as a true "silent" switch
Yeah for sure. It's very disheartening that I can't change the switches out on the K2. The Nuphy Air is gonna be my first low profile though, I'm nervous about it.
For 99.9% of people it doesn't matter at all. Someone may feel cooler when their keys have a certain look, typing feel, or sound, but none of it is going to have any meaningful impact on gaming regardless of what the marketing wants you to believe. The main appeal with modern keyboards is their insane levels of customization - you can get whatever you want and replace switches on a whim if you want to. If you want the flat laptop style keys I'd suggest looking into something like a Keychron K1 low profile or the Nuphy Air series and branch off from there as you figure out your preferences.
