I recently just got a new keyboard and went through looking a lot of different options. I own a full size razer huntsman elite and it’s been a decent keyboard but I never liked the key clicks feel quite as much as some other mechanical keyboards. But I do think it is a good keyboard generally. Anyways I was looking for a less than full size keyboard and Wooting is all the rage currently for gaming. I wanted F keys, low latency, and non-plastic body. The wooting keyboard with a non-plastic body I think is around $280 currently. Looking into countless further options I settled at Womier SK75 TMR/HE, note the TMR/HE as there is a standard SK75 that I am not advocating for. The SK75 TMR/HE has those things I wanted and the Wooting maybe was more differentiated years ago but I’m not convinced it’s not running its high price off of brand name/hype somewhat at this point. But I can’t say I have personally tried one, just the vibes I get from everything I have watched/read in the last week. Anyways the SK75 TMR/HE has been impressive and feels awesome and allegedly it has all the low latency stats. I paid $120 for it on Amazon. I have only used it for a few days so far so no ability comment on longevity. Overall I think the Razer and Wooting are probably fine keyboards. But there is a vast amount of options out there and I think Wooting may be at a premium price.

Longevity? I have had a couple of huntsman elites since release and cannot think of any problems encountered. The deathstalker v2 pro has also been great.

I had a razer huntsman elite, with the purple tactile keys. I enjoyed it for the first year. Then some dirt got into the volume dial and I wasn’t able to get it out, or something went wrong with the dial itself, it would lower my audio mid match, movie whatever at random,I fixed it with the software but it always had to be running. I recently bought a wooting 80he, and I absolutely love it, the software doesn’t need to be open for the settings to be saved and it’s quieter, but no number pad.

Razer is pretty good in my experience. I'm still using a tiamat 7.1 and an ouroboros and a tartarus. No issues. I still have several controllers, definitely don't want the wolverine 2, but 3 is interesting if I can find it in stores. I've also got a Naga. From everything I have, my wildcat has minor stickdrift on the left stic (enough that it doesn't move but it decreased the speed in some directions), and I've been using that since launch. My wolverine ultimate I kept for special occasions but am now using it as my main. I don't use my raijus for pc, only ps. The unfortunate truth with razer is that they're a bit pricey. If you go for the good stuff. But the good stuff is worth it. The rest, my tartarus definitely feels lower quality than my other gear and lower quality than some good keyboards I felt in store but never got when they were around. I wanted a huntsman elite. If I can find one I'm going for it. But that's because I don't have faith in their cheaper stuff. They're not Logitech that has decent performance all around. They're Razer. They're made with premium in mind, and a difference intended to be felt. Yeah, boohoo, that sucks. But when they have some of the best latencies I've experienced I don't care. Input lag is one of the worst things I've had to deal with when I use other gear.

completely forgot about that lmao. well in that case I would recommend OP get another decently built keyboard for typing and daily use, and use the huntsman for gaming.

Razer huntsman is fine. It's overpriced for the features list, you are mostly paying for the brand name. But it's definitely not a bad keyboard by any stretch of the imagination. My main complaint is that for the same price you could probably get a better featured Keychron, Yunzii, or Monsgeek. Features you want to look for: Double Shot Keycaps - Lots of "gaming brands"[ including Razer](https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/p2qouf/huntsman_elite_keycaps_peeling/) laser etch their keycaps, which have a much lower life expectancy. QMK/Via compatibility - This will easily allow you to set up macros and layers without needing clunky proprietary software. Razer requires you to log in to a Razer account to use those features. Hot Swap Switches - I understand you may not want to build your keyboard from scratch, and that's 100% understandable. But when a key breaks if your keyboard is hot swap you can just replace that switch. No need to send it in for repair or take the whole thing apart to solder in a new switch. It's as simple as popping the switch off and plugging in a new one.

it's good for gaming (counterstrafing) however i don't think it's worth it overall. good quality but you can get better keyboards for way cheaper and at the end of the day the snap tap isn't life changing

No. I have a wooting 60 and razer huntsman (optical, but whatever). Gave them each a shot for a couple months. Went back to my varmilo manilo with khail prestige silents. Like mice, we're at the point where improvements in tech doesn't matter in real world scenarios for keyboards. IF (and this is a big if) you vastly prefer changing your actuation point on your keyboard then they might be worth it. Outside of that, it's all just preference. There are going to be some keyboards that just feel better to you, and it isn't necessarily going be because of the hall effect. Experiment with switch weight and figure out what you like, then prioritize keyboards where that's available or install those switches yourself. The reason you hear the community say they're definitely better is because they don't want to feel stupid about dropping $200+ on a keyboard that isn't much different than what they had before. I say this as a very early adopter of higher hz monitors. The difference there was obvious. There difference on keyboards is purely preference.

Had a huntsman that lasted about 3 years. Head a kraken ultimate that lasted 18 months and their support told me to go fuck myself when I inquired about the 2 year warranty. So I've said fuck em and haven't looked back. Fuck razer, all my homies hate razer

Price aside, the best is pretty subjective and depends a lot on what you’re doing and what you like. No games? Just need bare minimum grab the cheapest one from Walmart. FPS games? You’re gonna want something with fast response times. MMO games? You’re gonna want something with lots of buttons and the ability to assign macros. Do you like tactile feeling/sounds? Mechanical switches Do you want something quieter? Optical switches Do you prefer raised keys or flat keys? Do you want a light mouse or a heavy mouse? Wired or wireless? Like the others have said you won’t find anything to crazy at that price point. IMO you should get a cheap setup from Walmart and save up for something you will like while reviewing the pros/cons of the various styles. Personally I use a razor huntsman keyboard and a viper mini mouse. But before that I used the standard ones that you get from dell when you buy one of their workstations. Both did the job, I just like the pretty lights.
