I had my Huntsman TE for around 4 years up until yesterday when it decided to brick itself. Think it stopped working properly, drew too much power and may have lightly avoided an electrical fire. Anyways, I’m looking for a new keyboard of similar calibre minus the arson attempt for use in competitive gaming and video editing. Good build quality, fast response and TKL are a priority. I’m not overly fussed about sound (hence why I owned a Huntsman) so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
100% recommend going to a local tech store that has some gaming keyboards and mice on display and just get a feel for them. Your accessory is a preference so its hard to give a definitive recommendation. I've had razer ornata, huntsman v2, huntsman tournament and they all have their own minor inconveniences that lead me to not use them anymore. Ornata is mechanical membrane, not particularly optimal. Huntsman v2 was a bit bulky for me (tall key caps) Tournament had too low of an actuation point (resting my fingers on the keys activated them) and did not have a feel-good press to them. Mice are the same depending on your hand size, grip, and even moisture (how much you sweat). Ultimately I have a Logitech g915 keyboard because of its short key caps and it has an overall nice feel. Rock a razer viper ultimate mouse (v1 basically) I own v2 and it just was a bit smaller and out of shape for me. I own a superlight and it was uncomfortably small as well. I have razer glass keyboard but I def recommend a slow-medium pad of whichever company you like, its just easier to use and better for tactical shooters like valorant.
Zaopin Z1 pro, basically an Orochi V2 chinese clone that has better weight and components. egg shape. Fingertip/ slight palm touch grip. Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition, have this one since forever, love the stabilizers on their red lazer switches.
So I switched from Windows11 to linux. I had a razer huntsman with optical switches and it was ok in windows. It was very loud and the dial was always flaky. Even using open razer I wouldn’t recommend any razer stuff in linux. You can change some of the RGB stuff but changing anything meaningful doesn’t work. I have a 65% keychron HE keyboard now and it works perfectly in linux. You can set the RGB stuff but you can set actuation points or change what keys do what. And it does that using a web app so nothing needs installing. Works with bluetooth, wired or using the included wifi dongle.
completely forgot about that lmao. well in that case I would recommend OP get another decently built keyboard for typing and daily use, and use the huntsman for gaming.
I went through two Razer Huntsman keyboards and now I'm using the 8bitDo Mechanical keyboard with the addition of the keypad that can be used as a standalone calculator.
