I got a Darmoshark M5 Air one week ago, it is definitely pretty nice. But I don't know how it would be for very long playing session...
I have a M5 Air pro and honestly for FPS it is quite cool. For the rest I prefer to have my palm sitting somewhere lol
I went from G502 to G903>g703>g pro super light> G wolves hsk plus lite>keychron m4> Darmoshark M5 air> now currently using the G-Wolves Fenrir asym, for my medium sized hands this mouse is absolutely divine. I still use the m5 air from time to time but the Fenrir is like a glove I've been missing my whole life, I highly recommend the keychron m4 as a budget gateway into fingertip mice
If it helps you with your decision I went from straight up palm gripping the old g502 Proteus core with all the weights in it, to the g903 Proteus spectrum, to the g502 hero, then the g703, keychron m4, Darmoshark m5 air, hsk pro, and finally am currently using the Fenrir Asym 99% of the time, every now and then I switch and use the Darmoshark m5 air because I think it looks bad ass, but the Fenrir asym fits me like a glove
I completely forgot about the Darmoshark M5 and M5 Air! Didn't even know the Darmoshark M3 Micro existed tbh. That is two additional extant shapes. Currently at $80 for 1K polling and $130 for 8k polling respectively on AliExpress for the M5 pro and about the same ($80/$110) for the M3 Micro. The M5 Air is around $150. (prices for US market) How are we defining cheap? I feel like sub $50 is a reasonable spot for good old 1k polling, just my opinion on the matter since that price bracket is where those without the CPU grunt to handle 8 or even 4k polling in esports titles without stuttering at high FPS would be best served. CS/Val are both CPU intensive titles. For example, VXE R1 Pro had effectively the same specs for basically half the price and a better reputation for quality than Darmoshark. Gets a bit weird since it was exactly $53.69 including shipping/taxes with the 4k receiver 18 months ago from the other side of the planet to me, but things have changed a bit since. Currently, the updated 8k VXE Mad R is offered for around $65 including an 8k receiver and the R1 pro + 4k receiver is $70. A VXE Mad R 1k polling mouse is offered for around $45. The Keychron M4 1k polling is the only fingertip specific mouse in the US market under $50 price where I am subjectively drawing the "cheap" line. Availability isn't great. Sold out on Amazon, wildly overpriced through third parties on competing US online marketplaces and AliExpress, $40 direct from Keychron shipping not included which is the obvious best option at the moment.
They are all quality lightweight mice. Used thick grip tap to change the ergonomics of the left thumb side for the m5air. Did this slightly with the m2 as well. With tape, you can shape it to your liking if you want one section raised a bit. Would rather just have one mouse driver running so it's good that all my mice are from one manufacturer. Had small issues running multiple mice driver at once. I took the tape from a Dareu mouse and put it on the red m5pro.
Didn't like it without tape for some reason. Changed the feet from dot feet to standard feet, feels better on cloth pad. Also changed the ergonomics to fit my hand more with thick gripe tape made this a game changer. Raised the left side where my thumb rest a bit to add leverage to how I move mouse. It's very lightweight.
Played it some more today. Maybe I need to use it more but am discovering that the m5air may be too lightweight for me. The 38 grams of the m5pro feels better in terms of mouse movement. I'll try to adapt but not sure. The m5pro may be a much better value mouse.
I just semi retired my beast x mini too. I snagged a super cheap ($30) darmoshark m5 air and it's the only mouse that has fit my grip better than the beast mini. I use a relaxed claw type grip and I'm loving the m5 air. I'm going to keep the beast mini as a backup because i still love it. The build quality on my beast is still unmatched with anything I've tried. The m5 air quality is awesome but i prefer the feel of the magnesium body of the beast. I guess grip trumps materials for me because it was an easy decision
in my personal experience hand size doesn't matter nearly as much a grip. I have XL hands and just thought all mice were somewhat uncomfortable. I naturally got a beast x max because big hands, and I ended up hating it. Thank god I later got to test out a beast x mini because I never would have noticed that I actually use a weird relaxed claw grip, and that's the reason I never liked any of my mice. I then rocked a beast mini for over a year before recently switching to a darmoshark m5 air fingertip mouse.
My darmoshark m5 air just came in today (also put a lot of time on the m5 pro previously which is the same shape) and I love it with 20x10 hands. It looks like as well as hand size your fingers also have a bit of width to them like mine so the height of the sides is really nice on it compared to how low most g wolves mice are. The m5 air has amazing build quality and actually on my unit too. I found mine on AliExpress for under £70 ($100 ish) so it’s not badly priced either for a carbon mouse.
