I use a Vaxee NP-01S V2 for monster hunter wilds because I play with Greatsword and I find the clicks really satisfying in terms of feedback with a big and slow weapon. I know I'm not as proficient at FPS with it thought and my "try hard" FPS mouse is an EGG OP1 4K. The OP1 I feel most locked in and responsive with the clocks for FPS games whilst the Vaxee is a very relaxed grip and I often use it for work too.
Ok, under $100 you have a lot of great options. If you aren’t afraid of Chinese clone mice (and you shouldn’t be), you can get literally any shape with an amazing sensor and switch implementation. With that said, My recommendation: Endgame gear. OP1 8k v2 is under 100 and is amazing. It is wired which if that’s a deal breaker, I’d get the OP1w 4k for $80 on amazon right now XM series for larger hands. Hitscan hyperlight is another can’t miss. Pulsar x2 crazy light has gone under $100. I think right now it’s 130. M chose mice are excellent knock offs L7 is basically a pulsar x2 K7 is a viper v3 clone If it were me, I would get an op1 or a viper V3 pro for like $130, or a super light 2c for also I think $130, you’d pay a bit of a premium, but if it’s a gift for your brother, he may not appreciate how cool the lower cost clone brands are and they just want with all the pros are using, and if you buy it off your Amazon and you have how much more no hassle return policy.
I can second this, I use the OP1w 4k and float between fingertip and relaxed pincer claw. It's a super high quality mouse and the narrow front feels more controlled in CS than pretty much any other mouse I've used besides the G303SE that I mained for a few years.
Endgame Gear OP1w 4k if you want a smaller mouse or XM2w 4k if you want a larger mouse. Both have wired options available if you don't mind having a wire (and the OP1 has much cheaper versions if you don't care for more than 1k polling rates). Just don't get the "we" versions as these ones have pretty shitty optical switches.
There is not "best mouse". It's all personal preference. Build quality and customer service applies to all endgame gear mice, but the OP1 8k and XM2 8k in particular have the lowest latency (on paper), due to being wired mice with 8kHz polling rates (and even if you don't have 8k enabled the switches will still be polled at 8kHz) I would still go with the OP1w 4k if you have normally sized hands and you are using fingertip grip or small hands and use claw grip. Or the XM2w 4k if you are claw gripping your mouse with average to large hands. (These mice still poll the switches at 4kHz even when the mouse is set to 1kHz in the driver software) The difference between 4k and 8kHz is in the microsecond range, so not noticeable to humans and also kind of unreliable because many game engines don't properly support it and you lose performance because of the high CPU overhead. Don't get me wrong the OP1 and XM2 8k both feature incredible technology, but the benefit of a wireless mouse is still greater imo.
I don't own the 8k. The 4k doesn't feel imbalanced. Yes sure if you have a 40g mouse right besides it and constantly switch you'll notice it, but I was coming from a 40g Sora V2 and it took me one day to adjust to the weight. It's not heavy by any means. Yes it feels dense compared to the Sora V2 but in a good way. Dense doesn't necessarily mean bad, after all we're still talking about a ~60g mouse
Using the PMM Pulse W (OP1w 4k mod) right now, really like the low weight with the click latency of the OP1w. My only personal complaints are that the clicks feel a little different and the shell is pretty flimsy (cant really tell while playing though) I stopped using the ATK A9 Ultra and X1 Pro, just didn't like the shape of those (GPX and Viper V3 Clones)
OP1w 4k and artisan raiden arrived yesterday and the combo already feels much better than what ive ever used.
You can always get the OP1w 4K it’s basically the wireless version. I personally use a wired 20g mouse these days so I have no issues with a cable.
Op1w 4k would be my recommendation. Best shape on the market right now for claw grip.
Try the op1 w4k, I enjoy using it. It's not bad at all means so if you really don't want a wired, give it a go. It's a banger either way, I'm just saying from my personal experience if the v2 version knocks the weight down, it's #1 mouse of all time.
Op1w 4k on sale on Amazon right now for $87 USD, not sure if that translates to £. I know the OP1 mice get shilled a lot here but it's kinda similar to the mouse you mentioned. G wolves htx ultra 8k also similar but a more premium price tag. Pulsar X2 has a bunch of similar stuff as well. None of them are like perfect replacements if you want the same exact thing but they are accessible I think if you are trying to get something in two days lol. Idk if the UK has actual gaming stores you can go into like micro center in the states. Edit: it was a different gwolves mouse I saw on Amazon
