I went from MX518 to G5. The G5 had adjustable weights in the tray, as well as replacement grips, which could really change the overall size and shape of the mouse, or different textures - one grip was smooth, another textured. I've now moved onto the G502 Hero - another good sized mouse, adjustable weight, plenty of buttons and software to support remapping them. Nice having a dpi thumb button to help with sniping, having that bound to a much lower dpi for precision work, and much higher for normal.
r/gaming • Why was the Logitech G203 considered to be the best gaming mouse of all time? ->Only Logitech for me, although the G305 has been the best mouse I have ever used 3 were unusable when they started developing left click and I just couldn't pay for a mouse with cheap switches (my new tri mode mouse is under $20 and it has aftermarket switches out of the box). The new software and the expensive mediocre keyboards didn't help either. So my fanboyism of Logitech died after 20 years lol, I'll always keep my G5 though
r/pcmasterrace • Are there any good vertical mice with high end sensor and extra buttons for competetive gaming? ->Still rocking my G5 coming up on 20 years! I have yet to find a modern mouse that replicates the shape, size, and weight of the G5. I have big hands and like my mouse to fill my palm. If anyone has suggestions for a modern equivalent, please speak up!
r/windowsxp • Some older Logitech gaming mice ->I'm not a heavy user. But the G5 is built solid.
r/windowsxp • Some older Logitech gaming mice ->I bought that G5 upon launch back in 2005. Used it for about 10 years than I gave it away to my friend who’s used it another 10 years. I just got it back from him and it was a complete mess. Cable is broken, scroll wheel barely works, grease all over, the worst I’ve seen so far. This pic was just after cleaning the whole thing with alcohol. I have jet to replace the cable, scrollwheel, skates and clean it on the inside. Technically it will be as good as new again, but the outer shell won’t get better than this.
r/LogitechG • Some older Logitech gaming mice ->I'm old and so are these mouses lol. Prior to the Logitech G500, I had the G5 and before that the MX518 and MX510, all the same shape, very comfy for gaming in palm grip.
r/MouseReview • What's your favorite MOUSE SHAPE of all time? ->Logitech G5. The rust/carbon looking version not the blue version.
r/MouseReview • What was your first "official" gaming mouse? ->logitech g5 since around 2007. it still works great but i finally retired it this year for a new roccat tyon i couldn't pass up on
r/MouseReview • What was your first "official" gaming mouse? ->Oh yeah. Some gamers used the Microsoft Intellimouse before Logitech released the MX series. I played with the Logitech G5 for ages—it had a plate you could put weights on and put into the mouse... crazy times 🥹😂
r/gaming • Why was the Logitech G203 considered to be the best gaming mouse of all time? ->I'm really lost guys. On my "prime" days I used G5, MX518, Intellimouse 3.0 and Rival 310. I had a relaxed claw grip, after that I used the G502 Hero, Model O, GPX and since then I never felt confortable with any mice and my grip also changed, now I have a tilted extended palm grip. Every mouse I've tried so far, Deathadder Essentials to try a true ergo since it was cheap, Thorn and Xm2w 4k. Some of them in the beginning feel good but after some hours not anymore. My handsize is 18x10, I can't tell if I need a big mouse or a small mouse. I really need some help please, the pictures are from Model O, Xm2w 4k and Deathadder.
r/MouseReview • I don't know which mouse I should buy ->Nah their QC is just really spotty. Ive had some razer products last years and I've had others where the paint coating crazes and cracks after about 6 months, and I take care of my peripherals. I still have a circa 2006 Logitech G5

r/pcmasterrace • Daily driver for 12 years and started double clicking randomly, RIP ->Still need a Logitech G5 or G500 type Mouse because the other ones are not as big nor comfortable. Also if you have your hand in that position of the claw without a big enough Mouse it'll cause your hand in forearm to cramp really bad and it's terrible
r/pcmasterrace • Help for a mouse that fits my hand ->My first mice was a two button no scrollwheel ball mouse (scroll wheel didn't exist back then). I got some newer ball mices afterwards but used my first mice up til 2003 I think when many people already had lazer mices. I played Counter Strike and Arena Shooter well with mine tho and sticked with it longer than most others. My first real gaming mice was a Logitech MX510 I think. Then I had Logitech as a sponsor and got a lot of MX518's and G5's. I use a G402 for 10 years or so now.
r/MouseReview • What was your first "official" gaming mouse? ->From the G5 to G500 to G502, I've been using the same mouse for 25ish years.
r/pcmasterrace • The 25 most recommended gaming mouse according to Reddit (in the past year as of Jun 2025) ->12 years? Mine didn't even last 1, my OG Logitech G5 outlasted it.

r/pcmasterrace • Daily driver for 12 years and started double clicking randomly, RIP ->First official gaming mouse buy was the Logitech G5 with the customizable weight tray that popped into the bottom. Used that for YEARS.
r/MouseReview • What was your first "official" gaming mouse? ->There were a lot of different gaming mice back then. Razer's Naga line launched back then, as well as various other MMO mice (I remember a friend had a SteelSeries WoW mouse. Although a lot of mice from that era had more than the 5 buttons that are common today. Razer had the Lachesis, Deathadder, Copperhead, and some others which were solid options. Logitech had the G3, G5, G7, G9, G9x, MX518 and I believe the G500 all were popular. Microsoft Sidewinder was a solid mouse. If I remember right the Cyber Snipa was out around that time too. Which was a great mouse for the price at the time. The Saitek Cyborg also may have been out around that time. This is all just me thinking out loud of mice that I owned, friends owned, or I wanted.
