I tried 3 different Naga models, Corsair scimitar and a turtlebeach I don't recall name of. Right now I'm using Genesis/Natec Xenon 770, because of how cheap it is. I prefer the naga Trinity shape, but it's too expensive for the shirt life duration. So my current mouse solved that problem.

I went through a lot of them and in the end the default wired (and cheapest) Naga X is the best and lasts the longest so far. I think it's because the side plates arent removable, so the whole mouse holds together better. I had Trinity and Pro before and both had issues after a year and were unusable after 2. This Naga X is coming at year 4 and everything works as the day I bought it. If I had deep pockets and wanted a little more alternative button grid like you, I would go for Corsair Darkstar. Looks pretty dope, but I prefer full 12 button rectangle button grid. Plus the Darkstar is like the most expensive gaming mouse I ever saw lol.

Razer Naga, because my mmorpg keybinds are unnecessarily complicated and I like it that way.

Mouse is a personal preference. Check out r/MouseReview and do your research. For example I used Razer Naga for mmorpgs for ages, but I strated playing FPS with my Wooting and wanted a more FPS friendly gaming mouse ... I quickly realised that the most popular ones are ABSOLUTELY TINY. I don't even have giant hands, I have 19,5-10,5 hands. For example I bought the VXE R1 PRO which is one of the more popular ones thanks to the price and quality, but I had to send it back, because I couldnt even reach the side buttons with how small it was. Did some more research, at least I had a reference point to look through elo shapes here: [https://www.eloshapes.com/mouse/database](https://www.eloshapes.com/mouse/database) , so I just went through all mice with a reference for that VXE and Naga. Now I knew what I wanted: Mice as big as the Razer Naga, but lighter and with a hump in the back. I sorted them by size and ended up at Pulsar X3 that came out at the end of the year and I couldn't be happier. That was my journey of finding perfect mouse. I still use my Naga for mmorpgs and I switch to the Pulsar for every other game.

I've bought the trinity and the Pro. Then I bought the Mac Daddy version of the g502, which i think I've used... twice? I still use the 6 button layout from my trinity, it's great for shit like Tarkov and Warframe. Only thing I wish it had is the only reason I bought the G502, the unlockable scroll wheel. For whatever reason the Naga's are way more comfortable for me than any other mice I've tried with as close of a match of function I've found. Would love to have a backup mouse as it's Razer and they will eventually kill the line just bc, but that seems like a pipe dream

I used the razer naga trinity for a few years. When it broke I replaced it with a redragon perediction 4. Both are 12 button mice. I honestly prefer cheaper redragon hardware. The buttons are easier to feel because they don't all feel the same. However, the software is terrible. They don't let you assign to the function keys 13 to 24 which means those 12 extra buttons don't actually get you 12 more hotkeys. Just an overlap with keyboard keys. Which for me almost entirely defeats the point. Very dissapointing since the hardware is good. That said, I also hate Razer software. It updates all the time with like dozens of megabytes of downloads. What the hell is it downloading? Are there PNG images in my mouse firmware? Should be a few kb max. I did also like the razer hardware a lot though. would go back to it if could afford.

I use the Razer Naga Pro and it works very well for the most part. However, the one issue is that the wireless connectivity is atrocious. It constantly has huge lag spikes, so I'm forced to use it plugged in at all times. The Razer Naga Trinity is basically the same thing but without the wireless, so I would recommend that one instead. Personally, I really enjoy being able to swap out the side plate because I find myself accidentally pressing the MMO buttons when doing things like using a web browser. When I open FF14, I just swap the side plate and swap it back when I'm done.

I've been using the Razer Naga trinity, and before that the Naga pro and before that the Naga. With 12 buttons you can bind you can fill one bar and control everything from your mouse. Up that to 2 bars using shift+12 buttons. In games like guild wars 2 you can use shift+1, 2, 3 etc to swap bars and use 1-12 to use abilities. It's been so much easier than reaching up to hit a key.

Quality design, ergonomics, and lighting. Plus the Ghub software is great for different profiles for different games, and has built in MACRO settings. 10/10 mouse.

I had a razer naga from 2009, their first iteration. That thing lasted me until 2022 when I just gave it to a friend who wanted a mice for his gaming laptop. I've gone through two Trinity mice (their modern version of the naga) since 2020. I miss that mice, man. I only got a modern iteration because I'd fingered through all of the paint. It still worked perfectly, too.

I use Razer Naga Trinity (one with interchangeable side button setup - I personally use circle formation of 7 buttons). Not sure if it is best choice for WoW but for me it is enough to bind all skills I use during raiding. Some downside is paint on the buttons came mostly off, but I already memorized the buttons. Another downside is that I'm playing on Mac and Razer is pure dogshit regarding software on it so I had to do some black magic fuckery to configure it (install som 3rd party software that works)

There'll be a lot of 18+ button mouse recommendations here, since that's fairly standard for an MMO mouse; but if you're wanting someone more universal to high input/action games I **really** liked my Steelseries Rival 500 and wore it right out. Fit my large hands well and had a distinct thumb button layout that worked well even in fast paced shooters. Couldn't find a replacement and had to settle for a Razer Naga Trinity, which does the job though I'd drop it for another Rival 500 in a heartbeat. Benefit to the Naga is hotswappable thumb plates with 2/7/12 buttons, so you can switch it between max buttons or the more intuitive circle layout.

Yeah. I had the original razer naga epic, LOVED that mouse. Used it for 4-5 years before (in my naivety) decided to buy a new razer mouse because it was cool and flashy (I was 14/15). I’d give anything to have my old naga (well besides buying one second hand off eBay). The new ones just feel cheap and I haven’t decided to spent $180 on their new “naga pro” just to see if their more expensive one feels just as cheap as the trinity I bought 2+ years ago.

https://www.razer.com/gb-en/gaming-mice/razer-naga-trinity Not sure about its price where you are but it might be what you are looking for. I have both g502 and the above. The trinity is modular, with 3 interchangeable side panels in 2,7 and 12 button layouts. It has a wider, form fitting design that fits the hand perfectly. One drawback imo is the scroll wheel, its feels light, cheap and clunky (mine is several years old and i hope they have updated it since), the g502 wheel is vastly superior.

I don't think that a good gaming mouse is that necessary for Total War games, as opposed to FPS games and stuff. You don't really need that much precision and small latency. For Total War games, I'd prioritize something comfortable myself. That said, I have a second Razer Naga Trinity cause I love the side panels with extra buttons and have smaller hands. I mainly use the 6-button panel, where I bind whatever keys I feel like are often needed but out of comfortable reach for me. The 12-button panel is awesome for games that have skills/spells on the number keys in the upper part of the keyboard. MMOs are a no-brainer, but if you'd like to have a bunch of stuff more accessible in any game, that's my recommendation!

My experience matches this. I was very sad when I started getting double clicking and I couldn't find a replacement for a reasonable price since Logitech discontinued their best seller (make it make sense...) I got the naga trinity because I couldn't find a close enough alternative to the g600. It took getting used to but I like it well enough now. The scroll button was stiff as all hell for the first few weeks but it eventually loosened. I still miss the third button shift modifier.

I have had 4 or 5 Razer Naga's at this point. Trinity's, Pro's, the works. Great mouse but the quality has gone downhill over the years. Scroll wheel becomes annoyingly loose. Specific side buttons regularly stop working. After all those Naga's I decided to give the Corsair Scimitar a go. On paper it's great. Adjustable side buttons positioning, good design, good quality scroll wheel. However since getting it I have had issues with the mouse registering movement on my mousepad. It's not an issue I have ever had with a mouse before. Opening the iCUE software fixes it in most cases, but it's pretty annoying to have to have software open for a mouse to work. I have heard good things about the Red Dragon MMO mouse, though I don't tend to buy the more "budget" electronics so your mileage may vary.

It’s a matter of interest. More than 2 extra thumb buttons get in the way…. But not if you are playing an MMO. cause then 10-12 side buttons are great… but you have the naga trinity, which is lighter than a g502 by several grams so why not that. It’s thinner and it’s lighter and you have swappable side buttons. Me, I use a final mouse ULX for FPS and a starlight pro for work, but if I’m playing something like guildwars or an MMO I’m definitely using my naga. It all depends on what you are playing or doing. In the end, it’s all 100% preferences and branding. Some people like being able to have a heavy mouse, even the mouse pad you are using can effect the usage.

Everyone is saying Naga, I used the original Naga hex, Naga trinity, Naga pro, all wore out within a year. I’d have double clicking issues or middle mouse button stopped working, but warranty always replaced them for me. This boat of a mouse was my favorite until the the Steel Series Aerox 9 came out, this mouse is a step above the Naga. Pros: half the weight of a Naga and it’s insane how much less fatigue your wrist has from long gaming sessions. I’ve used the mouse for a couple years now and haven’t had any hardware or software issues yet (no Synapse bugs). Cons: it’s not as ergonomic as a Naga, it’s shaped like a normal mouse, which took some time to get used to learning the button layout. The buttons on the side are attached to what feels like a membrane keyboard and is much less satisfying to click than the Naga. Wireless, but no charging dock like the Naga, so you have to plug it in once or twice a week. Overall, the Aerox 9 is a race car compared to a Yacht, it’s changed mmos for me and I can’t go back.

Razer Naga is the best. I've used like 10 different MMO mice and the Razer Naga is just the best one. Brands MMO mouse I have used had terrible software problems. Although the Naga isn't totally perfect either. But its the best imo. Edit: Logitech G600 was trash. Kept having weird mouse issues where the mouse would bounce around. Happened with 2 different ones years apart. Honestly the worst MMO mouse I used. Also the ergonomics on it were the worst as well. Razer Naga Molten was good but the mouse button wore out within 6 months and I needed to open it up and hot glue the clicker to keep it working. Roccat Nyth was good and probably the longest lasting mouse I had. It started falling apart the mouse of any mouse I owned and was by far the most fragile feeling. Contradictory but thats how it was. Corsairs MMO mouse sucked ass. Kept having weird software problems. Razer Naga X wired so far is the best MMO mouse I've used. Had it 2 years now about and the biggest problem I have had was this weird problem where scrolling up/down would bounce around weirdly. But blowing air into it would fix it. It hasn't had that problem for a really long time though now. I've used more but I cant remember them off the top of my head. I used to have a literal pile of them in a box somewhere but I threw it away a few months ago. TL;DR though the MMO mouse scene is a bunch of garbage but the Razer Naga X is the least Garbage one I have used.

For me, I've been using the Razer Naga with the 12 button side for more than a decade. It takes a while to get used to, no lie. But I picked one button and mapped it to one action (a spell) and got used to that one button. Then I expanded as quickly as I felt comfortable. I wouldn't play without it now.

I used to have the 12 buttons Razer Naga, but then modified keybinds to have 3 rows 1-9, control1-control9 and shift1-shift9. So I just need the 2 modifiers on the mouse (using wireless Razer Viper now).

First proper gaming mouse I got was the Razer Naga with the 12 buttons on your thumb and middle mouse buttons. I've the tried the Logitech Hero (G502? can't remember) and some other less popular variants and brands but nothing beats my first love. My Razer Naga Pro is just too good. Most expensive mouse but the option to go wireless or not, Side buttons variations for 14 buttons, 2 buttons or none depending on your gaming needs, and simple dpi settings which you can choose on the fly makes the mouse absolutely worth it. I love the ergonomics on it too. Just bloated enough to fit my palm and evenly weighted for comfort. No regrets.

Same experience with razer mouses here. Had the one with a numeric pad, what was it - naga or something like that. Actually used the pad a lot instead of kbd for hero skills and it did die on me before even warranty ended, had it replaced and it died again the same way, then just lost it and brought 10EUR vertical mouse which still is going after many years no issues. One could argue that the pad was flimsy and I maybe used it too much but then why have it as a feature if it's half assed. Wasnt happy with this company at all.

In my experience they all get double click at some point. But either Razer naga or Logitech g600 are fine. Corsair makes a pretty good one too. Go to best buy if you can and check them out. Logitech g600 might be hard to find since they aren’t made anymore.

On all my toons I bind movement speed to the mouse wheel tilt so that was important to me too. The Logitech G604 also has decent side buttons (6 + 2 top) and mouse wheel tilt... Logitech discontinued it last year though so when mine dies I'm probably going to have to go back to Naga, which I got the Logitech to avoid since my Nagas kept breaking.

your best bet is to go to a local electronics store like Best Buy if you can. if you're lucky they will have display mice out you can try out. the only real recommendation is to get an "mmo mouse", that is, a mouse with 12 buttons on the side. other than that the best one to get is the one that feels best in your hand. everyone has their own experiences with durability. I know many hate on the naga for not being durable, but I've used the naga for 13 years now and am on my 3rd, granted I can also be a bit rough with them. I use them entirely because they feel extremely good in my hand, whereas the competitors like the corsair and logitech just don't feel right.

There's not that many that exist, your options for ones you can reasonably find are: * Razer naga * Corsair scimitar * Steelseries aerox 9 * Red dragon m908 All of these are mediocre mice with large QC issues and whether or not you get one that lasts 5 months or 5 years is complete RNG. You're going to have a bunch of people pop up and say things like "I've used the X for Y years and its the best!" and its some bullshit, they won the lottery that their mouse didn't arrive defective or shit the bed after some short amount of time. There used to be the logitech g600 which was both cheaper than 3 of those 4 mice while also being just as good if not better quality... not by much though... but they discontinued it. You can find them used but they're mostly overpriced and yknow.. used mice are pretty gross. They all have minor differences, pick whichever one suits you at whatever price point you're ok with paying every year or two and pull the trigger. The razer and steelseries are the most overpriced, the scimitar isn't as bad price wise, the red dragon can be bought right now on sale for 22$ and is normally like 32$. Red dragons a budget brand though so don't expect the world.

I've used the Razer Naga since 2014. Once you train yourself to find all the side buttons without looking, it's pretty great. I've used it across MMO's, shooters... it even comes in handy for excel spreadsheets and stuff. I had something like the Tatarus back in the day (I think it was the orbweaver), and I did like it, but it wasn't a game changer. It crapped out after a few years, and I never bothered replacing it. So my vote is gaming mouse for sure, if you're only getting one.

Same play style, brother! Except it wasn't a stroke for me. Pretty similar mapping as I use, but I traded abilities for more movement (in FPS games). I crouch with 7, reload with 6 and jump with 8. I play with MMO mouses since the first Naga came out and now im at my 17th MMO style mouse, the Naga Pro v2. Have/had them all, EVERY Naga, G600, Corsair Scimitar, Steelseries, noname Utechsmart things from Amazon... You will wear them out pretty good, but it's worth it! It's a learning curve, and you get better every day, I played competitive Counter-Strike one-handed, so we can do everything! Good luck and much success! If I can help you with something, ask away.

I used the Corsair for a couple years. I am using the Razer now. I really lied the ability to reposition the button pad on the Corsair. I have fairly large hands, so sliding that bit forward was comfy. Like many people, I ran into issues with the scroll wheel. Read online that a little lubrication would fix it, and it did. Temporarily. I would regularly have to open the thing and dab a bit more oil in there. Eventually, it didn't quite go back together right, and the right click started to fail. Additionally, I liked the iCue software, once I had it figured out. I would actually program in some macros to help with crafting. I went for the Naga next. It has been fine. I struggle a bit to hit the back three buttons on the fixed pad. There's also no real tactile difference between them, so it is often a matter of "Thumb forward, confirm first column, move back to desired column, press button." I'm used to it, though, so it does not slow me down. I have one more... odd complaint. I play from a recliner. The arm of the recliner is my mouse area. Movement is absolutely fine, but the pads have so little friction that the thing will slide off of my chair the moment I remove my hand. So if I am not raiding, or otherwise doing normal computer things, I have a wired Deathadder at hand. There is not enough play in the wire for it to fall off. You will probably never again hear someone complain about mouse movement being *too smooth*, but here we are.

Steelseries Aerox 9. 12 side buttons, and unlike basically every other mouse made for MMO games, it does not feel like a brick weight wise, so if you have long gaming sessions, your wrist will thank you. It's like 89g compared to the Logitech G600, which is a common recommendation that is 133g. Or the Razer Naga that is 122g and Corsair Scimitar, which is also about 122g. I've used all of them and the weight savings on the Aerox helped me no longer get any kind of wrist discomfort after days of longer gaming sessions.

No worries that explain a lot. I'd just practice on aiming then and movements with keyboard. Stick to basics then go to macros etc. If you don't get much better on M+K or feel like you're just better on controller, maybe it isn't for you. Lots of players do well on controller, even pros. If any case you need a mouse with more buttons there are some out there but those are usually an old design like the Logitech G503, Naga or other MMO/all in one mice. They won't be the best for aiming compared to modern mice these days but yeah something to note. Personally I'd just try and get better with what you have but there's no harm in testing out other mice, I guess. Good luck and happy gaming.

Naga is too many small buttons for my fat greasy fingers. This should probably follow the thread already about it, but Logitech G600 series. 6 buttons is more than enough when you throw in shift/alt/ctrl modifiers. Death Grip on the button, shift+button grips mouse over, alt+button grips focus target. One macro, one button, dynamic application of your skills.

i use one of those ergonomic vertical grip mice for workload, and have my gaming mouse on it's dock right next to it. for a bit i had a naga that i had bound to macros, but realistically i think the biggest productivity / ergonomic boost you can get is with an ergo-mouse. first off, 8k polling rate is more of a gimmick than anything else, and what you need in a high-speed high-end gaming mouse is completely different from anything considered productivity. consider keyboards, where a top of the line HE 60% wooting with clicky switches would be next to useless in a heavy workload setting, but my huge ergonomic logitech with an entire row of function keys and switches and doodads would not be at all useful in a competitive game setting. i think once you actually start going for high end peripherals, the use-case defines the product. just like you wouldn't wear a dress watch when going scuba-diving and you wouldn't wear your gshock to a wedding.

This 100%. The Naga feels like it'll break in my hand, and my tiny gamer wife literally broke one by accident after a particularly frustrating wipe. We both use Corsair scimitars now, recommend them to friends, and have never had to buy replacements. The iCue software it requires is the worst thing installed on my computer, an aberrant resource hog that barely functions. It's worth it for a reliable mouse that feels good in my hand, though.

Naga has too many buttons for me and they were too small for me to consistently hit the one I meant to. I prefer the G604 as I think the 6 buttons were a happy medium. When I was big into ESO, I only had 2 side buttons and I only used one for weapon swaps.

I ended up settling with the Kone I also use the naga but its heavy and wanted something a bit lighter.

I've had quite a few Razer Nagas and a Logitech G600. They all ended up dying after a year or 2 where the left click becomes unreliable. (doesn't hold, doesn't always register, etc) I've decided to just buy cheap Redragon mice now since at least I'm not out $80 bucks when the thing fails. Currently using a Redragon M908 without issue. If Logitech or Razer want to start putting reliable switches in their mice, I would gladly move back to them.

The caveat with Razer is that rebinding mouse buttons does not work in Linux. While the defaults work for me (I have a deathadder and a naga, and the side buttons on both are mapped to number keys), someone with a more specialized use case will need access to Windows to set up the mouse. OpenRazer only allows you to adjust the lighting and sensitivity IIRC.

I’ve used a naga, aerox 9, and schimitar. It’s a toss up between the naga and aerox for me. I think I like the ergonomics of the aerox a little better and I find the larger buttons easier to navigate. I didn’t like the schimitar and it broke within 6 months. I also thought the software was the most cumbersome. All of the MMO mice I’ve tried have terrible scroll wheel sensors that don’t last me more than a year or 2. Even the naga and aerox… thankfully I was able to get replacements for both under warranty.

It kinda sucks but there are not many good options. The naga typically feels great but have a reputation of being built like shit. Supposedly the newer naga pro is a lot better but they tend to be really expensive, they are probably the best mmo mouse out there right now. The chinese ones are ok, they get the work done but don't feel as good but they are also dirt cheap. The g600 was also amazing but you can't get them anymore for a reasonable price. For a while Logitech was supposed to be working on a lightspeed version but it never came out. Pretty much I think if your budget is high enough go for the naga pro or naga v2.

For a couple of years after I had a cheap copy of it, which was okay but not quite as good. It did the job. Currently I’m using a G502 X, because I don’t play much and it was half the price of a Naga Pro. It’s a great mouse, but I do still miss the 12 side buttons and how simple it was to use.

Both offer basically the same package; 12 side buttons and the normal mouse stuff. The Razor and Corsair software are pretty similar too. Only real difference is the Naga feels a little longer and more flat in the hand vs the scimitar being a bit more tall and round.

I've tried a bunch of cheap MMO mice from Amazon, but I always end up returning them and going back to a Razer Naga as the side buttons give the best feedback. The only problem is the scroll wheel always breaks after about 6 months and becomes useless. My 5th Naga just broke with exactly the same problem, and I'm very reluctant to buy another. Out of the other premium brands, which MMO mice have a similar feel with good quality side buttons? I'm willing to try anything else at this point, I just hope the scroll wheel lasts longer than 6 months. Update: I'm getting a Razer Naga V2 HyperSpeed, it has a completely different scroll wheel to all the previous Naga's I've used, and it won't break the bank like a Pro V2. I really hope this scroll wheel is more robust, but only time will tell. Thanks for all the input everyone, very much appreciated. Update 2: I just tried the advice /u/ShadoGear gave, and it only bloody worked!! https://www.reddit.com/r/MMORPG/s/x1prWOuidP The scroll wheel is working perfectly again, dust must have gotten into the sensor! I'm going to keep my HyperSpeed as it's so nice having a wireless mouse again, and I have a good spare now, so chuffed 🙂

Well I've had this Naga for 2 years now and I'm pretty heavy handed. The MMB still works fine, and the scrolling issue ending up being dust stuck in the scroll sensor and is fixed now. The MMB went on a couple of them but that was years ago and I can't remember the exact circumstances. I think it was on the special edition SWTOR Naga's, so it could have just been an issue with that particular model. I honestly wouldn't worry about it, as long as you're not pressing too hard it should last you many years.

That's good to know thanks, I found a couple of posts about the issue too, and it does look a bit flimsy in the pictures as there's no front support. Not sure it would last very long in my hands either. I think I'm just going to have to get another Naga but make sure to use the warranty if it breaks again, rather than suffer in silence!

Well it happened to my original Naga, then it happened to my special edition SWTOR Naga, so I got a second hand SWTOR Naga off eBay and it happened to that one. And I'm now on my second wired Naga after that. I try to live with it as long as possible before getting a new one, it also depends on the game I'm playing at the time. Yeah I've been trying hard to stay calm and not press so hard, and the better I get the easier it becomes. But I still do it sometimes when things get really intense. My friends used to joke in school that I had retard strength as I wasn't a big guy and didn't train, but could beat anyone in an arm wrestle, so it probably is me if it's not a common issue. I can't be that unlucky lol Come to think of it my work mice used to break after a while too, I'm really going to have to focus harder on not clicking so hard on the scroll wheel from now on 😅

Top 3 MMO mice I've owned: * Corsair Scimitar * Logitech G600 (discontinued, but closest in shape is UtechSmart Venus and Redragon MMO series) * Razer Naga It comes down to comfort at the end of the day for those long MMO gaming sessions, so I would suggest going in-store and trying out the shapes. Both Scimitar and Naga have wireless variants. Scimitar's side buttons are mushier and have some movement, but this actually helps me lift the mouse without misclicking the side buttons. You can also move the side button panel on the Scimitar to match your hand size and comfort (its biggest selling point). Naga's side buttons feel the best - very snappy, but its shape causes me to misclick at times. If you want to play FPS games with your MMO mouse, I would buy the Scimitar as they release each iteration with the best sensor in the market for that given point in time. Naga's sensor is ok; my Naga Pro jitters when fast swiping/flicks. G600 has the oldest sensor (and is laser).

The “g shift” third button on the side is my favorite because you can have it set to ctrl so you have your regular hotkeys plus ctrl+your regular hotkeys if that makes sense. It might be discontinued though so I might have to start looking for a new one for when this one bites the dust…

Bro I used to love this mouse, my favorite shape of all time, unfortunately the newer models are bad for my grip style. I now use the steel series Aerox 3 which is pretty much the shape as the steel series rival 3, a cheaper alternative. I like how my palm feels resting on these mice, but I tend to use more of a claw grip. If you like using a palm grip the Logitech g502 would be good, it has a button in a similar spot as the sniper button and you can make bind it to do the same thing as the sniper button with the Logitech software. Edit: I’ll be honest man I’ve been looking for a mouse like this one forever. I don’t think you’ll be able to find a shape quite like it, I haven’t been able to. The only thing I liked almost as much was the razer naga.

Same here unfortunately. I've tried a lot of other MMO mice over the years. None have as good a thumb button pattern/sizing. Only the Naga let's me assign shift to one of the middle row buttons, then easily roll my thumb left and right to get shift4 or shift6 from just my thumb.

r/MMORPG • Gaming Mouse recommendations for MMOs? ->
Reddit Icon
Qix213 • 4 months ago

Naga. I'm not a fan of razor in general. But no other MMO mouse has better thumb button size/placement. With the Naga I map the center button on the bottom row to shift. And with that I can roll my thumb up, left, or right and get another three keybinds. No other mouse fits my thumb that well. 99% of the time I only use the bottom six buttons. The others are just basic things like auto run, sit, walk, etc. That makes for 8 buttons that I can press instantly with just my left thumb. Lots of quick reaction buttons there. And just having shift there also lets me press that for shift, instead of my left pinky. One less thing for my left hand to do. Makes Shift+4 while moving and jumping easier. In WoW I double bind 5 and r to the same spell, same for 6 and f. 789 -shift= are on my thumb button. And 0 is moved to ' (left of 1). This gives me ready, instant access to the entire hotbar. And with shift, an entire second hotbar (excepting shift+7 and shift+9). Then a few non-reactionary spells like buffs, hearthstone, toys, etc can go wherever. These can go on a bar that is vertical against my party frames (I play healers). So it's real easy to cast them on friends when needed. But these are also bound to F# keys as well so multiple casts can be done quickly with mouse over macros while moving forward (but not jumping/strafing etc). Macros will let that be enough to play even a druid in all forms with every spell being useable. And this is without stopping movement to reach and without any annoying left pinky stretch ever being required. It's been a couple expansions since I played, so I'm just assuming the button bloat hasn't gotten too bad since.

I'm curious in what position you put your hand to make those left 2 columns reachable. At best I can reach the rightmost 2 columns, and I'd probably have to completely relearn how to use a mouse to use the first two... but I do admit that having a dedicated dodge button that doesn't require double tapping or contorting my thumb to the alt key has become a core part of all games that I play. I just wish that games would be more consistent about allowing the binding of mouse-4 and mouse-5, because I got like 3 different profiles on my Razer Naga because some don't allow me to use shift, some don't allow me to use mouse-4 and mouse-5, and some don't allow me to use function keys...

had a corsair scimitar elite, which developed a scroll fault where it was randomly scrolling uncontrollably after 2 years use, cleaned it all out internally and it still persisted after stopping it for a short while, switched to a second hand Naga then from CeX in the UK and it worked a lot better for longer for me, though your mileage may vary :) I preferred the Naga to the scimitar

I like the razer Naga. It has 12 programmable buttons on the thumb side. Makes doing a rotation, moving looking, and doing dungeon mechanics much easier IMO.

I did a bit of mouse experimenting around when I first started and ended up sticking with the Naga. The Naga along with Synapse has the easiest configuration with the best feeling mouse in my opinion. I wasn't able to remap keys on my mouse to Shift+1 thru Shift+= like I could on the Naga than when I tried out the G600 and Scimitar. I also appreciate the click sensitivity and the modular scroll wheel. The G600 has that 3rd click button, that I just couldn't get used to. The side buttons are kinda mushy and require more pressure to push in. It became an issue trying to press side buttons and not accidentally pressing that 3rd mouse click. The software is utter garbage. The Scimitar has the ability to slide the side buttons up and down to your feel, while have an extremely good design. Even better than the Naga. However, the left and right click are extremely sensitive. The software isn't the best, and due to not being able to map the side buttons the way I wanted to without issues, the mouse that would have been my choice got 2nd place to the Naga. Overall, I recommend the Naga, then the Scimitar. And this is also coming from someone who wanted to do away with all of their razer products.

I've prolonged the use of my Naga by blowing into the wheel, like you would a game cartridge back in the day. I need to do this every couple of days, takes.seconds and it's good as new.

When I scroll down there is a bit of a stutter or it looks like it's 'slipping' on a web page. I had it with an older Naga model as well.

The first Naga it happened to got so bad that the scroll wheel was barely moving my page down and that was when I decided to replace it. When it comes to replacing this one, I'm going to get a Corsair Scimitar. I always hear good things about them.

I used the Naga for years, but they broke so damn fast and the price tag was a bit much for me. So I switched to the Logitech G600 and while it worked great, it had so many issues not remembering its settings. So I would have to open the software to sync it back up. Very annoying. Now I’m using the Corsair and I love it. I haven’t had to install any stupid software. It worked straight out of the box. So far no complaints! I just miss the 3rd button that the Logitech had :(

i've been using a utech venus (though it appears to be redbranded to utech red dragon) mmo mouse for 6 years and it's legit the best mouse I've owned, I've a logitech g600, cable went in 2 years, a corsair sabre, right click died in 6 months, razer naga, middle mouse started playing up before the cable went. Yet, this cheap, shitty (build quality) wise, mmo mouse has survived 3+ years now? The side buttons are ridged nicely, the settings and left click button are useful My main critique is the achaic software it uses , looking straight out of 2004 but other than that, for 30 quid, worth a shot

Google it. Its a common issue in Nagas. I had the same thing happen to me for who knows what reason, somewhere in the 6-12 month time frame. My middle mouse button can rarely be held as it usually spams the button and scrolling sometimes gives additional inputs or does that kind of "rubberband" inputs where it'll do the opposite input after scrolling. No rough handling at all.

Biggest misconception about the G502 is that it's made for large hands. While it works for some; myself included cannot use it. It's too damn narrow at the grip. My buddy with slightly smaller hands performs extremely well with it. If you fancy spending a little $$$ for a long term mouse, I recommend the Zowie EC line. Ergo shape, very large, around 70-80g, no extra software needed. I myself searched all over for a good mouse that fit my hand, went through about 40 different mice, and ended up on the "Zowie EC1-CW". I wanted large, not 100g, wireless, don't care for RGB, and more modern performance (negligible), and no additional programs needed to change mouse settings. Another few mice I enjoyed (though heavy) was the Razer Naga, Corsair M65, and (not heavy) G Pro Wireless / Superlight, and Glorious Model D. My hands are 8.25 x 4.5 (If I remember correctly). And I can totally palm the EC1-CW comfortably. It's literally a perfect fit for my hand. They also have different sizes of the same mouse. Also take grip style into account. I'm more a hybrid of Palm/claw. Width was the biggest killer for most mice from my experience. Anything under 63mm grip area width gave me cramps in my hand

Razer Naga for me, though I will say it is way too easy on some gaming mouses to hit the wrong button or smack it completely unintentionally. Not awful if you just do story quests and dungeons, can get annoying if you're healing an intensive raid. I would go to the electronic store nearby and try out a bunch - everybody's hand size is different, and if you're someone with smaller hands or left-handed, you might hate a mouse everyone else loves.

I've used the Razer Naga and the Corsair Scimitar. TL;DR- Scimitar had more weight & felt better but the mouse wheel broke consistently. The Naga feels lighter/cheaper but I have yet to have issues with it. The Naga is lighter and I dislike that more, but I haven't had any issues with it. The Corsair Scimitar had more...heft, and felt better to me, but the mouse wheel broke every time after using it the same amount as the Naga. I had the Scimitar replaced twice within Corsair's normal warranty on it and that was always the issue. Still loved the shit out of the Scimitar but swapped to Naga because of that to test it.

Literally same. Replaced 2 times because of scroll wheel in their warranty (so no cost to me but still). I fucking love that mouse though, but it made me switch to the Razer Naga to see how it is. No scroll wheel issues with same amount of use, but I dislike the feeling of it in comparison.

I don't have the V2, but I've been using the Naga for over 2 years now and it's the best investment I've ever made for this game, hands down. No issues with buttons wearing even when I was spending about 4 hours a week raiding, the software runs smoothly and doesn't bog down my performance any. Would highly recommend, if not for mice apparently being hyper anecdotal in actual performance from what I've heard lol.

Comfort is 100% a key aspect of improving how you play. I made two investments in that front, first my Razer Tartarus and then a couple years later my Naga, and both of them drastically improved my ability to play the game comfortably by just having all my buttons on hand and not in awkward places to reach. Unfortunately they're a bit on the pricey side to play around with and find the exact one you like best, but au least a minor improvement is an improvement.

I've used a LOT of different mice for wow. Logitech g600 was great, but it's discontinued. Unless you wanna pay 400 for one, then you'll need something else. Razer Naga MMO mouse with 12 buttons was also very good. But also discontinued. I finally settled on the razer v2 hyperspeed. It's identical to their old 12 button MMO mouse except that it's wireless. I'm the kind of person who likes everything wired, but honestly after a while I was sold. Excellent response time, battery life, etc. And I pvp mostly. Some like corsair, etc. But i personally found them sometimes large and clunky. Personal taste. If you don't mind changing batteries once in a while the razer v2 hyper is great.

I’ve used the Razer Naga since the first one and it took *maybe* a couple days to get used to it. Seems weird at first but it’s really not bad if you just use it. Ends up being like typing, the more you do it the better you get at it. I’ve since replaced it with a newer version but it worked great the whole time. Current one I’ve had for years and still works great. It’s a blessing and a curse though because now I won’t even consider playing a MMO without it. With shift and ctrl modifiers I can bind far more skills/abilities/consumables/etc than I would ever actually use. I even use the side buttons for other games, shooters for weapon selections/grenades, ARPGs for skills/consumables/etc. As far as competitors go, sorry I’m not sure. Never had a problem with Razer so never tried anything else.

I have had 2 so far moving from Razor Naga's, and it is my preferred mouse even though I don't play MMO's any more, but i'd say it's on par with Naga's. Both have the problem of semi-rapid mouse button wear causing clicking issues, with I think the scimitar being slightly worse for it. Also they have different ergonomics and people would have a preference between the concave-style of the buttons on a scimi compared to the convex-style of naga's
