They were designed for field mixing for television so using them to mix is exactly what they were designed for. I don't know where the hell people come up with this stuff. ETA I also own two pairs of HD25s and recently bought a pair of the TMA2 DJ wireless, they're great headphones, there's definitely some things I prefer about my HD25s but the Aiaiai headphones are definitelt not bad.
I own two pairs of HD25s and a pair of wireless TMA 2s by your standard OP should just stick with 25s (and if they're going for comfort they definitely should) that being said, I remember your post about the TMA2s and that is not an issue on the ones I got a few months ago. I hated on aiaiai myself for years, but decided to give them a shot, and actually enjoy mine.
These are the only ones I’ve found that allow me to play along with minimal latency. (Typical Bluetooth headphones won’t work for OP): AIAIAI TMA-2 DJ Wireless Headphones https://a.co/d/bgtoseK
Save for another week and buy aiaiai tma-2 wireless DJ - high-speed wireless amazing - and you'll never trip over or strangle yourself again!
AIAIAI TMA-2 DJ - wireless if you can.
You can add (albeit at some extra expense) the matching large OE pads - they are perfect (imho)
aiaiai TMA-2 DJ Wireless. Customizable sound profiles on the app. Can be wireless or wired. Modular interchangeable parts.
I think it’s rated at 9.5-10ms and not noticeable. Can still be used with a wire if it goes lowbat.
everyone recommends hd25 always cause of the durability - but the cable ALWAYS breaks. and its kinda expensive to replace. love them, but this is something to be aware of. im using aiaiai dj wireless now and im very happy with them, but unless youre a vinyl dj the wireless is probably overkill.
AIAIAI TMA2, can be upgraded with the wireless connection which is so much fun. The previous version didn't get loud enough on wireless connection but it looks like they fixed that now (TMA 2 DJ Wireless).
There's two ways to go. Either go for some full open back studio monitoring headphones, which will not be fit for road use or for DJing out. Or you go the DJ-functional route and get a pair with over-ear cups and good sound quality. For the first option, I had the same demand and I ended up with the Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X. You have to keep in mind that your headphone jack on your controller/mixer generally does not have high impedance. So what you need is a headphone with a high 'sensitivity' (it can get loud with a low power audio signal). Secondly, you want a headphone that is pleasant and relatively flat out of the box since you can't do any Sonarworks/headphone EQing on your controller/mixer headphone output. That's why I ended up with the DT 900 Pro X; higher sensitivity than most other studio headphones. Your proposed HD650's are less sensitive in this regard. It also has less hyped high end than most of the other Beyerdynamic headphones, leading to less ear fatigue. Second option, I really enjoy the sound of my AIAIAI TMA-2's with the new S11 driver. Went 'build my own' and coupled it with the alcantare over-ear pads (E08). Whether or not you get the wireless connectivity makes it either the low end or the high end of your budget. This one is functional outside of the studio as well.

Over ear imo 🤷♂️ Love my TM 2 x-DJs a lot.
AIAIAI TM 2 x-DJs are my favorite 🤷♂️
I hear my Aiaiai TM2's just fine 🤷♂️. I have super sensitive hearing and just keep the headphones just over booth volume and it seems to work
Aiaiai TM2's with the bigger ear cups are fun and comfy. 🤷♂️
I went the AIAIAI route as well. Being modular means that I can buy different speaker units, or headbands for whatever comes up. I have the regular headband, over-the-ear earpads and the Bluetooth DJ speakers and a volt yellow coiled cable. I also bought a hardcase for them to live in when not in use. It's been at least 5 years and they are still running strong. They sound great, have excellent isolation and if something breaks, I just order the part. No need to toss the whole set. 👍🏾👍🏾
