I've seriously got my eyes on the AIAIAI TMA-2 Wireless. By default they're on-ear but all their headphones are modular so you can swap the earcups for over-ear for just a few bucks. You can save a bunch if you don't need wireless, plus you can replace the headband later to make them wireless. I love that everything is modular. If anything breaks you can replace that one specific part.

I once wrote somewhat of a negative review about Aiaiai headphones and folks lost their mind, that's when I realized how fantastic their social media campaign had been and the level of fanboys/girls that were created in the process. Mind you, I was alluding to a problem that the company themselves had acknowledged and written up a possible fix for. That issue was around the noise floor of their wireless headphones which was unacceptable to me. I really wanted to like them...they didn't sound too bad once you got past the noise floor but I found them super uncomfortable and read where folks had put them over boxes to kind of stretch them out a bit for comfort which might not be the case for everyone.  Anyways I had the HD25s which I never liked as they remind me of the Sony Walkman headphones from back in the day. What I do recommend is the beyerdynamic DJ 300 PRO X Professional DJ Headphones. The sound is amazing, comfort not too bad (you may have to break them in) but what's also great and kind of unique about them is you have the option for them to be either on OR over ear which is pretty amazing imo as they come with both sets of pads. I liked the things so much that I actually wound up buying 2 pairs...can't get a better endorsement than that, lol you should check em out.

I hear my Aiaiai TM2's just fine 🤷‍♂️. I have super sensitive hearing and just keep the headphones just over booth volume and it seems to work

Aiaiai TM2's with the bigger ear cups are fun and comfy. 🤷‍♂️

I think it depends entirely on whether you want to mix in headphones or via your speakers. My speakers are on the smaller side, it’s fun to blast music but my nicer headphones give a far more accurate idea of what the mix sounds like. I’ve never tried DT-770s mostly because I’ve heard they’re quite bright and I’ve never liked that in a headphone, I enjoy my Rode NTH-100’s a lot for mixing and just listening, they’re comfortable, well built and not too fatiguing while still being accurate. I also like my TMA-2’s with the S05 speakers and either the E04 or E08 pads depending on whether I fancy more bass or more sound stage. People aren’t lying about the HD-25s, they’re great but I don’t find them comfortable for longer sessions where I’m monitoring in headphones. Astounding otherwise though.

Be very careful buying wireless headphones - if they’re Bluetooth then there will be an unacceptable delay. You think you can work around it, maybe by adjusting desktop play delay (if you’re on avid) - but - don’t do it. Even if you can offset your playback to account for the Bluetooth delay (I can recommend an iPhone app called CatchinSync for that) - you will always have to adjust your in points as they will always be late. Saying that, my favourite headphones for editing are wireless. I wear them all day and they’re very comfortable and sound great. These are AIAIAI TMA-2 - really great and minuscule delay (9ms I think - which is less than half a frame at 50fps)

To answer your question, the aiaiai’s are comfortable for long-term wear.
