My top five favourite affordable headphones are: 1. Fiio FT1 2. Sennheiser HD660S2 3. Hifiman Edition XS 4. AKG K712 Pro 5. AKG K240 Sextett (if you can score a decent pair, as they are from the 70's)
I use a pair of AKG K240 Sextett EPs. Beautiful sounding cans, but I needed a dedicated sound card to actually make use of it haha 50 years old and still kicking. Just needed to replace the strap (DIY) https://preview.redd.it/gipc24ifadxg1.jpeg?width=1124&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fcbd7b8b03866c30e6eecc59dbc779576a4e80b5
I agree. MK1 version are best headphones at $50 mark.
Grado SR80e's or the AKG K240s. I have a pair of Meze Classics but they mostly live in the case.
For at work and on the go I've been loving my earfun air pro 4s, great noise cancelling and great battery life. At home I use AKG K240s
If you can't afford studio monitors or your space isn't treated for them, I highly recommend monitoring headphones. Cheapest: AKG K240s ($50, but they're "open backed," so be careful that your mic doesn't pick up any sound bleeding from them) mid-range: Sennheiser 280 pros ($70), Audio Technica ATH-m40s ($99) upper range: Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 ohm ($179) or Audio Technica ATH-m50s ($150)
