I have audio technica m50xbt and love them.
1) Make sure you buy them from a music store and get a gift receipt. It is a pretty personal thing, so the option to return, try on a few, and exchange should be given, encouraged and also expected! Honestly, I would recommend just taking them to pick out what they want.... but I get that it is nice to have a physical item to "gift" even if it gets exchanged!!!! 2) Just some clarification - by "over ear" are you saying that the cups cover his entire ear, with the padding on the outside of the ear? Or just that they are not "in ear" like a pair of Airpods are? Best Gift Options: Over Ear (enclosed around the whole ear) **-** Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT On Ear (not Airpods, but the foam sits on top of the ear) - HD25s If there isn't a preference, I would 100% go with the HD25s. Kinda an industry standard, absolute workhorses. 3) You don't want bluetooth for DJing 99% of the time (it can create latency). 4) You don't want noise cancelling. You want to hear the monitors, and the systems than do the noise cancelling change the audio and can also create latency.
If we're talking over-ear then the only answer is Audio Technica M50x bluetooth.
I was looking some time ago for a decent set of headphones for general music production stuff (recording and mixing), ended up buying the ath m50x and didn't regret it. Now, as an additional nuance, I actually bought the Bluetooth version and it was the best decision ever, even if it did increase the price a bit: now I have the traditional wired m50x, but I also use them via BT with my phone for general music listening, and, with the ath app for some EQ, they sound amazing for general spotifying.
Well, CD and CD-i was joint development with Sony. Blu-ray had bunch of developing companies (Sony, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer and Blu-ray Disc Association). Lightbulbs? Yeah... I'll just go back to reading on the history on that. VCR, which format are we talking about? And LED, invention hasn't been attributed to one company, but four people. First commercial LEDs were manufactured by Texas Instruments. I'm not saying Philips hasn't had much to do in history, I'm just saying, that you need to fact check yourself when posting on the Intertoobs, because someone **will** fact check you.
Probably not listed, since they're not from Europe. Eurasia, yes. But quality wise, probably one the best headset manufacturers there is. I've had my ATH-M50xBT (the first version) for quite a while now, and while the ear pads are getting worn out (I'm a bit acidic as a person in any case, physically and mentally), all the different versions of the M50x use the same ear pads, and you can get them. And there's probably a reason these get used in professional settings as well...
No, there are differences between 1€ shit earbuds and proper headset (let's say for arguments sake, ATH-M50x). Yeah, there are insane people who are willing to throw hundreds of thousands into pseudo-scientific marketing bullshit, but there is a difference (in AQ and BQ) between cheap headphones and slightly more expensive headphones. Obviously, if your source outputs shit, doesn't matter what you plug into it, it's going to be shit output.
I have been using the audiotechnica - ATH-M50xBT for years now, and its an excellent all-rounder for sound field separation, bass, overall music clarity/warmth etc. The updated version bt2 is better but a bit more expensive. However, once you play games with proper audio implementation like returnal or Silent hill 2 you will seriously be amazed with what "proper" headphones can provide. They are also Bluetooth so they are more versatile.
