Audio technica ath-m50xsts- usb headset for my pc and soundcore aerofit pros for away from home (open ear earhooks because the little rubber things on most earbuds ALWAYS bother me way too much no matter what size i choose) The headset has a really good microphone but is otherwise just decent for its steep price, but both the audio quality and the battery life on the earbuds is kindof insane. Music sounds better in them then the audio technicas, and while i dont use them but maybe 2 hours a day average, i only have to charge them like once a month, I've never had them die on me. But they're quite expensive as well
i ran into this exact thing last year with a gaming-focused headset that sounded flat for music. at that budget, i'd look at the Audio-Technica ATH-M50xSTS, the soundstage is way better for music but they still game hard. the Audeze Maxwell Wireless is a bit of a stretch at the top of your budget but the planar magnetic drivers make music sound incredible. i'd also check out the EPOS H6Pro, they're open-back so the sound feels more natural for both. definitely focus on ones with good driver quality over just 'gamer' features.
Glad someone mentioned the Audio-Technica brand. My M50xSTS USB are still going strong and showing no signs of imminent death. And the microphone quality is TV-broadcasting-level great.
Not really an expert, but I've read good things about SteelSeries headsets, which, from a quick Wikipedia search, is a Danish company. This was a few years ago, when I was searching for myself, but I've seen good reviews about their [Arctis Nova line](https://steelseries.com/arctis-nova) (either the Arctis Nova 7 or Arctis Nova Pro). It might be a good starting point, for you to look at. I've been using an Audio-Technica (ATH-M50xSTS) headset for the past year, which I'm fairly happy about. Pretty good mic and sound quality, but it's a Japanese company and not optimized for gaming, so might not be what you are looking for. (Edit: added link and better formating)
Audio technica m50xSTS and a decent DAC. I like the Focusrite Scarlett Solo.
Audio Technica m50 I use the m50xSTS so I can use them for DJing and for gaming
I just started using an AudioTechnica ATH-M50xSTS USB. It's a closed over-ear headphone with great sound quality and mic that will stop functioning when moved in an upward position. Comes with two different sets of earpads. Despite that I'm going to try to use it in combination with a Fosi SK01 amplifier which gives me easy control over the volume and a little equalisation with three treble/mid/bass buttons and volume button. I do need to adjust to a certain programme for my HA's as the standard setting will compress some sounds. I use a music setting so it will not compress anything.
Audio Technica ATH-M50XSTS. Wired, perfect with the built in mic. I have loads of headphones and I find these by FAR the best for my sim rig.
Just get the Ath-M50Xsts
Open and closed backs are entirely different. Open backs leak sound, but are less fatiguing and usually give you a more accurate sound. Closed don’t leak as much sound. The AT M50’s are not comfy for long periods and are not great sounding. Very hyped in the mids. They do not cover your entire ear. They are fine for tracking purposes. The DT 990 Pro is way more comfy. They are flatter in the mids, but have hyped lows and highs. I have both of those. It really depends on whether you need isolation or not. If not and you are going to be spending a lot of time using headphones, then you should get open backs. They are better for mixing as well.
I have some cheap Razer headset at my desk specifically for the mic on it. The sound quality out of the actual headphones is pretty crap. I don’t want or need a whole dedicated mic for the handful of times per month I hop into voice chat. For the other 99% of my headphones use, I did as you did - Audiotechnica M50 for about 12 years, Beyerdynamic DT770 for the last 2 years. I’m liking the Beyerdynamics so far, as they’re very easy to replace parts on.
