I have tried all sorts The m100 crossfaders look lovely and isolate really well and the sound is great but very “clampy” Aiaiai are great on sound , not so great on isolation I use beyerdynamic dt150 most of the time
Unfortunately it's pretty common to see the answer to all DJ headphone questions is HD25 and if you like on ear, small robust ok sounding cans, then that's fine. I tried them, hated them. I also have Aiaiai, ATH 50/40 v-moda crossfades, etc. But the ones I go back to all the time are my beyer Dt150 it's what I saw all the lead audio tech wear and they wear them all day. Great sound, great comfort, all replaceable parts. Mildly soggy ear pads at the end of a gig, but they dry out... Other DJ's "they don't look right" "they are too heavy" "they don't fit in my bag" ok, that sounds like 3 things you should not really consider when looking at cans...
beyerdynamic 80 vs 250 ohm, I have tried a few different sets but I keep going back to these basic wired ones with an amp/dac they sound fantastic
250-ohm won't work for DJing anywhere outside of a silent bedroom. I produce and DJ. I use Beyerdynamic 250-ohms for studio work, Pioneer C70s (basically their attempt at the HD25) for DJ work.
It's all about the budget. When I was a student I was hyped by a new pair of HyperX for 70$ 10 years from that - you can totally buy monitor beyerdynamics/whatever with a descrete audio pci-e for 400-500$ and enjoy yourself. They will be better. Just not "4 times" better because metrics on quality of sound are shady at best
I used to wear Beyerdynamics studio cans over my G2, these don't fit over my PCL so I hacked the G2s speakers onto it. Nowhere nearly as good as the cans, but better than the nubs that came with the thing. Being able to wear cans over it is one of the things that make the Pimax Dream Air attractive to me.
