If it is at home, I cannot recommend enough for Beyerdynamic. Get DT880 or DT990 Edition

SHP9500 phillips beyerdynamic dt990 premium. any of the beyer headphones will be fine. pick your poison, closed back or open. btw the shp9500 can be modified to have a mic attached. all the above are fine for PC. and you mentioned headphones. didnt mention “headset” beyer makes full headsets but they are expensive. alot dont like the treble either. dont get phillips shp9500 for a console. controllers arent enough for it. um….im not recommending them. they are horridly overpriced. and i consider them garbage for the price. astro headphones worked fine with glasses. anyways you didnt come here asking for sound quality advice just what doesnt suck for glasses. hyper x clouds are good. oh use velour pads. just go with hyperx clouds its cheap and gets the job done, my daughter is 11 and wears a pair with glasses too.. if they dont come with velour pads order some on hyperx website

DT 990 Edition is at 32 ohm, no need amp. You should read about open back Vs closed back and see the difference and which is important to you. Beyerdynamic is infamous for its exaggerated sibilance range which is the treble. Some can't handle, I didn't like it but got used to it. Definitely worth mentioning.

I have the opposite reaction. Metal sounds horrible on my 990. It's about the only genre so far I'm not happy with on 990. Are you EQing it?

Hmm that's interesting. Rage against the machine sounds amazing on it but I wouldn't say that's metal. Gojira on the other hand sounds like ass. What are you listening to? Id like to try it out

Did you use the 1990 one from the pdf? Although my 990 isn't there, I tried a different ohm one and didn't enjoy it at all. What's your secret?

I'm glad I only read about stuff like this after I bought my 990 which I think is considered the most harsh sounds? I love it. Yeah the treble is a little harsh but I got used to it in a week, I don't even notice it anymore unless I pay attention. Everything else is amazing. It's a WAY better than PC38X that people recommend every time when it comes to gaming.

Pretty much my journey. Ended with DT990 and happy with it. Still every time PC38X comes up, it gets raving reviews. I always try to interject and point out how garbage it is except for footsteps.

Looks like a DT 990 Premium to me... Nothing that would be screaming 'fake' about it IMO, but then again, that's just one picture. What makes you feel they could be?

Same. Get the non pro version though. The coiled cable is heavy and annoying lol

I would take the DT 990 Pro X. I had the DT 990 Edition myself. This allows you to locate opponents well, because of the open construction, and music sounds detailed and very spatial. The DT 990 Pro X has an improved driver and you can swap the cable, good for longevity.

The design is a matter of taste. I prefer the old one to the old one, such as the DT 900 Pro X, which looks cheaper to me. The STELLAR.45 driver provides better sound. I would prefer this to the normal version. There is also the DT 990 Edition, which also looks different if you want a certain look. A beauty is otherwise the DT 1990 Mark 1 250 Ohm, which I own, but which costs around 400 euros.

On a side note Beyer DT990 Premium / Edition is the better choice for home/personal use than Pro version (which is made for studio) .same sound,32 ohm but most importantly much more comfortable headband and less clamping force.

Beyer sells them as “Premium” in some regions and “Edition” in others — they’re the same, just different from the “Pro” line (meant for studio use). The main differences with “Pro” : softer headband, less clamping force, different cup design, impedance, and cable type. I had the Pro, but the clamp was too tight and the headband pressure point really hurt top of my head. No problem with the Edition. Pro: 32/80 ohm = straight cable, 250/600 ohm = coiled. Edition: straight cable only. Read more here: https://blog-en.beyerdynamic.com/products-in-comparison-headphones-of-the-edition-and-pro-series/

Sennheiser HD 599SE (Open-backed, often on sale on Amazon for much less than the going rate - I am a complete amateur/beginner at guitar, and I use these plugged straight into my Audient ID14 MKII audio interface, and they deliver very pleasing sound. Bear in mind they are open-backed, so some acoustic sound will leak into your headphones, but if you up the HP volume to an acceptable level, this isn’t an issue. This pair competes with my more expensive sets, I would recommend looking into it at the very least.) Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250 Ohm (Better noise isolation and bass, especially with fresh ear pads, but treble may not be to your liking.) Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250 Ohm (Semi-open-backed, slightly less treble than the 770 Pro, better spatial cues and less muffled, due to its more open nature.) Beyerdynamic DT990 600 Ohm (The Hi-Fi/home version of the 990 Pro, with a more relaxed tuning. These are my favourite headphones - good bass, flat midrange, gentle treble, really enjoyable listen, compete very favourably with my HIFIMAN Edition XS, which cost twice the price.) Beyerdynamic Tygr 300R (The same driver as the aforementioned 990 Pro, just tuned ever-so-slightly for gaming - great option, as it ticks your music box and your gaming box.) Most models can be found second-hand on eBay, or (in the case of my Beyerdynamic recommendations) directly from Beyerdynamic, at very attractive prices. I only bought the first two options new, the rest were either second-hand, or B-Stock (essentially new, but returned for undisclosed reasons), and have had no problems whatsoever, in fact, quite the opposite. Feel free to respond to this with any questions or comments, I am at your disposal! :-) —EDIT— I just re-read your post after submitting my comment. I only mentioned gaming and guitar in my comment. I have used all sets fairly extensively for gaming, music, YT, TV, films, and they all pass muster. Some of them really do benefit from EQing - I use the Peace APO programme on my PC, load up the recommended “flat” frequency response and then tune it to my liking, for each pair of headphones. This will help to mitigate the “murder treble” the Beyerdynamic DT Pro line is known for, however it might be useful when monitoring, mixing and mastering your tracks ;-)
