beyerdynamic makes a couple good models for gamers, the mmx 200 wireless and the mmx 300 pro wired. it's an actual audio brand that isn't about marketing or flashy design or rgb

Hi , I am looking for a few thoughts on what would be the best option for ANC wireless headphones for flights? I am by no means an audiophile, I just like to listen to music and as long as it doesn't sound crappy, i'm pretty happy about it. My issue is when am I overpaying for something that would be wasted on someone who doesn't use an equalizer, for example. Budget would prefer to be $250 max but can easily go up if it's worth it. Located in the USA, MN specifically. here's a list of what I have looked at, as well as teh price for where I am located. These would be for new, not used. * ~~Bose Quiet Comfort (current?) - sale - $175~~ * Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra - sale - $260 * ~~Bose QC Costco - $200 online, likely less in store~~ * AKG N9 Hybrid - costco - $240 online * Beyerdynamic Aventho - $200 * ~~Sennheiser Momentum 4 - $175~~ * ~~Sony XM4/XM6 - $300/$400 - I've also seen people say on here a lot to avoid the xm5~~ I currently have a pair of beyerdynamic mmx200, which I think have a pretty good sound output and use while at home. Tried on a flight though and so much engine noise came through. Thank you all for the help! Edit/Update: I went and tried out a few options at a couple stores nearby. The Bose QC base, sony xm options, and sennheiser m4 all did not fit my ears well. Bose was a small ear cup that resulted in having to fit behind my ears and putting pressure on them from behind. Sony and Sennheiser both had shallow cups and my ears were pressed against the foam and folding back from that.

The ultrasound sat fine on my ears, it was the qc base model that was funky. I was an apple user but switched back to android, simply because of keyboards 😂 I think I am leaning to the qc ultra just because the others I'm not really able to try without purchasing first. And the ultrasound didn't bother me at all in terms of how they sat As for ear buds...I have found maybe one pair I've liked? They tend to either fall right out of my ear or put weird pressure on it and I can only wear them for an hour max.

the thing is sound is like color: it’s all about taste. I currently use a Beyerdynamics MMX200 and my gf uses a XM5. Yes, the XM5 is very punchy with big bass and clarity. The MMX feels weak in comparison (at least in bluetooth mode). But after 30min with the XM5, it felt like it was way too much drama. I personally think I prefer flat with a little bit of bass going on which seems to be what Nothing was going after.

Bayerdynamic MMX 200, best headset I ever had, much better than the MMX300 even

I use Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 Ohm as wired headphones for best sound experience and when I need a mic but still a good sound experience and wireless then Beyerdynamic MMX 200. Sadly they no longer produce MMX 200 but you can get a more expensive version MMX 300. The **MMX 200** are really good when it comes to a crisp clear sound and the microphone is so good that you can even use it for podcasts. Build quality is superb. I’ve had them for a year and have been using daily with 0 issues. Even the leather cushions have 0 wear and tear. They are also really good in noise cancellation. Also, they are **driverless headsets.** So, just plug and play and **no** need for **gimmick software**. Whatever you do, don’t go for those “gaming” headsets that most youtubers put on reviews. They are all utter garbage for an overinflated price. Reading your previous experience with those “gaming” headsets is a proof that they are all shit compared to studio headphones or headsets.

Damn. I am worried about Beyerdynamic in that regard. I got the MMX 200, because I wanted a 2.4ghz headset to chat with online friends (I still have to make some), and the build quality is absolutely terrible. Their build quality was one of the primary reasons I am a fanboy of them, besides of their clinical tuning.

I didn't have any of the new ones, but I had the wired version a few years back. Sound was not amazing... But I used them, then the ear cushion started flaking badly, and seeing there were basically no replacements. (0 from Logitech, idk if that changed since) I moved onto beyerdynamic DT900 PRO X. And honestly, it was like going from the beige plastic old PC speakers, to IMAX audio... I'm now always recommending good headphones, with an external mic, if someone asks. Also the beyerdynamic MMX series is pretty good.
