Beyerdynamic mmx-300 gen 2, bought it and never looked at "gaming" headsets again

No i pretty much use default sound drivers, sound isolation from the closed cup is enough for me. I did some config changes to the sound but they were from some generic guide. Never really had the issue of not being able to hear steps

I have the mmx 300 abd my friend the dt 770 pro, he literally hears nothing in this game but i think its a skill issue by him since he is pretty slow in his brain

I like the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 but plenty of mentioned options are every bit as good

Beyerdynamic is very solid, I used an MMX 300 (which really is just a DT770 Pro with a mic) for probably almost 7 years. I replaced it 1.5 years ago with an Audeze Maxwell and the sound is truly amazing, so I'd consider this a massive upgrade in the sound department quality but it comes at a price that's for sure, but when the first thing you do when turning on your computer is putting on your headphones, it's almost a no brainer to put in some money in those. Enjoy your new (future) acquisition!

* **Budget and location** \- located in Eastern Europe. In terms of budget I really appreciate price/performance "critical hits" and am looking for a significant upgrade to what I have now. Optimally something up to 400 or maybe stretching to 500 Euro if there is an excellent deal. * **Preferred tonal balance** \- looking for gaming immersion so I guess soundstage and imaging is the priority. Prefer warmer sound as I have had to eq some of my more V-shaped headphones to get it to where the sharpness doesn't cause discomfort. * **How the gear will be used** \-Used at home, but with another person in the room potentially working 2m away, so I'm apprehensive as to how loud would a planar set be externally. That said, I don't listen very loudly. Max 50% windows volume. I don't have any amp/dac, but had the Scarlett 2i2 (preamp?) and didn't notice any difference in audio quality between this, audio jack on the back/front of pc and jack on monitor (screen not speaker). * **Past gear experience:** * ATH-m50x: a bit too V-shaped for me in the sense that the high end can be sharp. Not comfortable for long sessions on the original pads because ears press against the driver mesh or whatever it's called. Were good for the money though and primarily used for music in the office (hence closed-back). * Beyerdynamic MMX300 (?): don't remember the exact name but I think this is right. They had a weird small proprietary jack with 5 contacts for which the port unfortunately broke and the store was unable to fix it and just gave me a partial refund. Best set I have ever had. Was many years ago so I couldn't say in great detail what I liked but I think the imaging was amazing for a closed-back set. * Beyerdynamic TYGR: decent for the money, but not amazing in any way. They've been passed on to the girlfriend for the same discomfort as the ATHs - pads are not thick enough and ears rub. I tried thicker pads, but increasing the distance to drivers screwed up the sound too much. * Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 80 ohm: current daily drivers. They used to be too sharp for me in the high end so I eq'd them, but I guess hearing has gone dead enough that I only now realised the eq has been disabled for at least a year. Again they are competent for the price, but I really would like something more alive, with better imaging and comfort. These are in general comfortable, pads are thick enough, but clamp force is a bit too high and I can start feeling the weight of them after an hour. I have an external mic, so no mic is needed on the set. My head is on the big side, but likely not in the direction that the headbands go as I use the Beyerdynamics on the 3rd smallest indent.
