Im not exactly a “audio expert” but the MMX 330 Pro’s were great in almost every aspect except the most important one. It was probably the most comfortable headset ive ever worn, the mic was incredible, it had really nice aesthetics, and sounded really clean though really sharp (like most beyerdynamics) the only thing it was missing was good spatial audio for footsteps and overall sound in gaming. anything that was behind me sounded like it was directly infront of me other than that it was great, probably the most well built headset ive ever owned and the most expensive for sure.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • A quality headset (for gaming) that is not "gaming" crap ->after my experience with them, they were great but when it came to competitive gaming there are tons of crappy headsets from the big brands that gave you better positional audio than that. Everything sounded like it was right next to you and it was nearly impossible to tell where the enemy was at based off of sound I could only imagine owning that headset for story games since it sounded so good
r/HeadphoneAdvice • A quality headset (for gaming) that is not "gaming" crap ->i think the imaging was ok it was the soundstage that was the issue, it was so bad in gaming that it sounded like everything was upclose so it was hard to tell how far right/left they really were ntm that open world games sounded like i was in a closed room. It really sucked switching because my music sounded so good but it was a dealbreaker for me. from my standpoint i would’ve kept it if i only played singleplayer story games
r/HeadphoneAdvice • A quality headset (for gaming) that is not "gaming" crap ->Hi guys, quick update: First of all, thanks to all of you who gave feedback in this thread. I was surprised by the kindness of everyone who replied!! Today, I went to a shop in japan and tested the Sennheiser 550 HD, Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO X, and the MMX 330 Pro which were the most recommended in the replies. I could not tell the difference in sound quality or crispness. To be honest, it was not a very quiet environment and also I did not have the need to do exhaustive testing. All sounded good, so it was a draw for me. In the end, I got the HD 550 for the reasons mentioned below, but it was a close fight. Price: Listed below are the final prices after the TAX-Free 10% discount. Also the japanese yen is extremely cheap today, so it was a good deal. -HD 550: 43641 JPY (270 EUR / 306 USD as of today). -DT 990 PRO X: 35064 JPY (203 EUR / 241 USD as of today). -MMX 330 Pro: 53550 JPY (301 EUR / 376 USD as of today). Build quality: -HD 550: It looks and feels very cheap. Same plastic used in the PC 363 D. But mine was fine after 10 years of heavy use (as I mentioned in OP, what was falling appart was the ribbon of the mic boom, that the HD550 does not have). So it is not bad quality plastic. It just does not feel and look like a headset of this price. -DT 990 Pro: Looks clearly more premium, but adjusting the headband was a bit of a hassle. It offered way to much resistance. The pads are plushier and softer than the Sennheiser, but round instead than oval. -Comfort: This was a total win for the HD 550. It feels like the PC363D that I loved. Soft clamp, velvety pads, and headband that is easy to adjust but does not loses the adjustment like my current razer does. The problem with the Beyerdynamic is that the circular pads were not big enough for my ears, so while plushy, didn't feel as confortable. -Mic: I wanted to buy the HD500 BAM recommended in the replies, but it was out of stock unfortunately, so I will need to get it at the european price. The guy from the shop offered me a cable that uses the DT 990 connection and has an integrated mic and DAC, but it was out of stock as well, and the mic was an inline (hanging / lapel) mic, not a boom mic, so I was not interested. It might be an option though for those of you who have the DT 990 or other headsets with similar connector.

r/pcmasterrace • Another „Gaming Headset“ bites the dust, tired of overpriced/hyped headphones. ->100%, I've gone from an MMX 300 to a TYGR 300R to a MMX 330 Pro. Love all three, used to be a Sennheiser guy but not anymore.
r/pcmasterrace • Another „Gaming Headset“ bites the dust, tired of overpriced/hyped headphones. ->MMX 330 Pro better in every way IMO.
r/pcmasterrace • Another „Gaming Headset“ bites the dust, tired of overpriced/hyped headphones. ->Beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pro would be my top recommendation, I cannot recommend it enough. MMX 300 pro if you *really* need closed back but I would really suggest open back. I've tried a few of Sennheisers best reviewed headsets over the years, including the Game One, the Drop PC38X, the GSP 600, and at least 20 of their headphones. They are fantastic in their own right but I seriously think Beyerdynamic headphones on average sound noticeably better and more neutral.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • A quality headset (for gaming) that is not "gaming" crap ->I just bought and tried the MMX 330 Pro and I can tell you, they're probably what you're looking for. I also own the Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X for around two years now, and even though the same sounds seem to be slightly better/clearer on the DT 900 Pro X (this might just be my imagination but I think it isn't), the MMX 330 Pro really come close to that. And they hav a microphone. DT 900 Pro X-esque headphones with an attached boom mic, that's pretty much what you get with the MMX 330 Pro. But I'm personally not sure whether I'll keep them, because... even though they're good, they kinda don't make sense. Or at least it doesn't make sense for me to keep them, because I already have DT 900 Pro X and spending 300$ on something that's almost the same but with a mic is stupid. I like them, but they're not what I was looking for. The DT 900 Pro X are studio quality headphones (entry-level-somewhat, but very good ones, and you don't need an amp for either of these headphones thanks to the .45 stellar driver). The MMX 330 Pro are therefore something like a weird hybrid of studio quality sound (but not quite) and a microphone that gets the job done (sounds alright and clear, but has its limitations. It still picks up noise and looks very basic and is worse than a proper microphone, which however would need good placement and/or more equipment and would be less convenient/simple to handle I guess). But the problem is that you can get very comparable sound and a very comparable microphone for less money, even in headsets (there are comparable options that perform similar, or are cheaper, or both). Then again, sound signature and the way you perceive sound is very subjective. They're sort of a niche, potential sweet spot. If you want to spend that money on that headset (headset usually means trade-off between headphones and microphone), then you'll get pretty much one of the best headsets that are currently available on the market, BUT at a not so good price-performance. 1. Even for the same money, some combinations of headphones + microphones might sound better and/or are more convenient 2. Since a headset is headphones and microphone in one, both of them can only get so good before individual solutions outperform them. My text got quite long, therefore I hope that my point is clearer to you than it is to me. Cheers.
