Yo, I just went through this process. Unfortunately, all the wireless gaming headphones are lack luster in some way. Maxwell was the closest to what I wanted but went through two broken pairs so there's quality issues with the current versions and they're heavy. Corsair Virtuoso XT are great for FPS shooters and with an EQ actually have decent sound for media consumption but they get blown out of the water by professional headphones, and the battery is really bad and have to charge 1-2 times a day, mic imo is decent. Astro A50x is good with everything but sound. In FPS games I was missing so much detail compared to other headphones with them. I bought myself a Fiio BTR17 portable amp and now settled with Sennheiser HD 490 pro with a 4.4mm balanced cable. The portable amp makes the wired headphones into a wireless setup. I keep the amp in my pocket with the wire down my side, but Im thinking of even other methods like attaching the amp to the side of the headphone and using a very short cable. I added a Tonor microphone: [https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DG2RSR77](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DG2RSR77) attached to the side of the headphones which has great sound quality. Also got a bluetooth USB that makes the wireless range ridiculously good. I like this set up because it's the best sound and microphone quality while keeping it wireless. I should throw in that the HD 490s are insanely comfortable and light headphones. People praise them for the comfort and I absolutely agree, you sometimes forget you're even wearing them because they fit like a glove. You can't even compare the sound quality of gaming headphones (apart from Maxwells) to professional headphones like the 490s. I can hear details, subtelties and separate sounds with them that you can't with most gaming headphones. Only draw back is having to charge the microphone and amp separately, and having to turn bluetooth on/off in windows settings at launch so it pairs with my amp (but could probably fix that with a script that launches when windows starts). I tried the MMX 330 pro before the HD 490 and that is very good if you don't mind wired.
I have the MX pro 330s , and would say they are better at being tuned for the type of gaming yo uwant to do, [https://www.reddit.com/r/BEYERDYNAMIC/comments/1lvirvy/mmx\_300\_pro\_or\_dt\_770\_pro\_x\_for\_gaming/](https://www.reddit.com/r/BEYERDYNAMIC/comments/1lvirvy/mmx_300_pro_or_dt_770_pro_x_for_gaming/)

Been gaming first person shooter since PS2 days, Ive gone through 5-6 headsets and some very pricey, Currently using Beyerdynamics 330mx pro, and they are legit best headset ive used, a little pricey but well worth it, the other ones ive used are always breaking at the hinges, this build prevents that.
https://europe.beyerdynamic.com/p/mmx-330-pro?nosto=pwa_kat_gamingTopseller I really like their products
Im not exactly a “audio expert” but the MMX 330 Pro’s were great in almost every aspect except the most important one. It was probably the most comfortable headset ive ever worn, the mic was incredible, it had really nice aesthetics, and sounded really clean though really sharp (like most beyerdynamics) the only thing it was missing was good spatial audio for footsteps and overall sound in gaming. anything that was behind me sounded like it was directly infront of me other than that it was great, probably the most well built headset ive ever owned and the most expensive for sure.
after my experience with them, they were great but when it came to competitive gaming there are tons of crappy headsets from the big brands that gave you better positional audio than that. Everything sounded like it was right next to you and it was nearly impossible to tell where the enemy was at based off of sound I could only imagine owning that headset for story games since it sounded so good
i think the imaging was ok it was the soundstage that was the issue, it was so bad in gaming that it sounded like everything was upclose so it was hard to tell how far right/left they really were ntm that open world games sounded like i was in a closed room. It really sucked switching because my music sounded so good but it was a dealbreaker for me. from my standpoint i would’ve kept it if i only played singleplayer story games
MMX 330 Pros. Amazing headset!
I previously had a SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, but wanted something better as I started to get better at noticing sounds in Hunt. I went through a lot of headphones about a year ago to find better sound in this game. I ended up on the beyerdynamic TYGR 300Rs as the best sounding open headphones. If I needed closed, I'd go with the beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pros I found both of these better for Hunt than the beyerdynamic 770, 900, or 990. Didn't try the 1990. I really liked Sennheiser HD 599 as well, and had a tough time picking between the two, but for gaming the TYGR was better and everything else well in the "really good" range. The HD560 was better sounding for media, but not as good for gaming. Also the TYGR were more comfortable on my head for longer sessions. The other Sennheisers I tried (HD 599 and HD6xx) were worse than the 560, though I didn't go into the super expensive ones. Also tried a few other brands, but all were worse than both the beyerdynamics and Sennheiser (at least in the sub $300 price range). I tested in real games, as well as in the shooting range with a friend testing detectable footstep distance and directionality, shooting, silence shots, etc, etc. Some of this will, of course, vary by personal taste and ears. Good idea to get a good DAC for any headphones like this. I have the Topping dx3 Pro+, but plenty of options out there. You'll want to find one with USB that supports DSD512 & PCM768kHz, as the lower settings can be noticeable here (also tested a bunch of these).
Had my Sennheiser PC360 for 15 years. Still working great. Loved them. But I changed now to Beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pro. Also great and awesome mic quality.
I own 4 that are in the top 10 and a few others, the order is so far from wrong its crazy. Of all the ones I own and have owned MMX330 pro > PC38x > Astro A50 Gen 5 > Steel Series Pro. The fact that the first 3 arent even on the list makes this junk, anyone that messes with headphones agrees PC38x is by far the best budget pair on the market. Anyone that says otherwise hasn't tried more than the 1 headphones they got 4 Christmas ago.
