Pal is a old AF producer and engineer and he insists it's not possible to find more accurate reproduction than Beyerdynamic T5 (closed) and T1 (open) at any price.
Interesting question. I own roughly 17 headphones from low to high end. It’s maybe an obsessive hobby for me that turned into a collecting endeavor. I’ve owned the older DCA Noire, the DCA E3, Audeze LCD2, HiFiman Arya V2 and HE1000V2, ZMF Atrium and Aeolus, Beyerdynamic T1 and DT1990 and DT880, Meze 99 Classic, both Aune AR5000 and SR7000, Sennheiser 6xx, and some bass cannons like the Modhouse Argon and Harmonicdyne Eris. And a bunch of others that don’t really meaningfully stand out. I tend to notice a disparity between my “best” headphones and the ones I listen to the most. The DCAs and HiFimans are objectively excellent, but I rarely pick them up. For me, personally, I’m in love with a rich, full-bodied and impactful sound. The ZMF Aeolus on an OTL Tube amp takes the win for me every time. It just makes every single song sound so enjoyable. It is soulful and “weighty”. Many of my headphones are technically better in many categories, but if enjoyment is the most important factor then the ZMF Aeolus hits the mark every time. It is just so well rounded and engaging with every type of music.
I do like my T1 a lot. It has its place in what I listen to but the HD800 really just takes the cake. I’d like to get my hands on some HD8XX but I don’t know if I’ll end up getting them. Been saving up for some camera equipment recently.
I did not here the DT 700 but the DT 900, DT 1770, 1990 and T1. The DT 1770 has emphazised lows and highs. Voices were faint and it was quite sibilant. Way preferred the DT 1990 out of all of them but finally settled with a Focal can. I always wondered why the DT 700 is traded as studio can because of the sounding.
Dunno why you're being downvoted. I gamed, produced shit music, and listened to tons of good music on these for years. I now have HD600s, Beyer T1s, and Stealth Aryas and the fidelios still go pretty hard. 2nd best for gaming after the Aryas.
Don't buy headsets. Buy external microphone if you need it. Get a decent one then. If not buy highend headphones. Beyerdynamic is a good start, I have the T1 since almost a decade. They were very expensive but still under 1 K € and definitely worth it. The frame and mechanism was completely broken but you can order replacements cheaply from Aliexpress. Just need to wait a few weeks. I replaced cable so many times, they charge 200 € for one you should solder, fuck Beyerdxynamic buy Ali cable for 30 instead. The new frame was 30 too and 10 for a luxury earpiece. In another decade this thing likely breaks but I live with it as it wears off naturally, I'm daily using these for often many hours but they never get uncomfortable. https://preview.redd.it/avr0t5qg1nzf1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4dce0f2c2124b3a645fd883a534796a49407d1b1
