Bose - QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen)

For me, the xm5 was  a step below the ultras. This was because I wear glasses and the thinner pads can't block noise as well, for me. The ultras has been excellent.  I heard the xm6 is better than the xm5, but they still have a thinish ear pads. 

Recently got the Bose QC ultra to accompany my AirPods Pro 2, and I agree with this review. I will say some songs I feel more depth with the AirPods Pro 2, but I know that wasn’t the purpose of this review.

Yeah, over the years I moved away from headsets to the mic and headphones and I honestly like it a lot more!! I have a blue yeti mic and just Bose noise cancelling headphones.

NC700 are pretty light headphones (around 254 grams) so this surprises me a bit. The XM6 weight about the same, the QC a bit less and the really good ones I have (Bathys/Px8) and the Px7s3 a lot more. Would look at the XM6 which has a phenomenal microphone and ANC solid (if a bit bass forward) sound (EQ helps) and pretty comfortable although I don't like the shallow earpads. The Bose QC Ultra and QC are also right around the XM6 and NC700 in weight but may feel more comfortable for you as they don't use the same headband.

I have three of these and will give my opinions. Best for music is clearly the Focal Bathys with the onboard DAC. This rivals my DCA Noire and LCD-3 headphones for separation and clarity. Not as detailed as the LCD-3 but still clearly the best sound profile of the three. The ANC is the worst of the 3 especially for low dB noises. Microphone also worst of the 3. Comfort is ok but not phenomenal. Most comfortable with the best ANC for me is the Bose QC Ultra with the Sony right behind. Bose and Sony both need EQ and I don't see much of a difference between them for that. Sony has more bells and whistles with the APP with a better environment for adaptive sound control if that is of interest to you. And out of the box Sony sound better but for me still needs a lot of EQ to even out the low and high frequencies. Also I'm not a huge fan of the lack of deep cups for the WH1000X6 but that is just my preference for comfort. But agree just test all three by going to big box store or ordering and returning them. I also agree that the #2 for sound is the Sennheiser Momentum 4 which is the best deal of the four.

I'm going to say no based on the following selection of headphones that I own: Dynamic: Verite Open, Focal Elegia, Beyerdynamic T5/3rd generation and HD650, Planar: DCA E3, DCA Noire, Hifiman HE1000 Stealth, Audeze LCD-2f. IEMs: FiiO FH7s, Westone Mach 40; earbuds: Galaxy Buds Pro 2, Galaxy Buds Pro 3, Jabra Elite Active 8, Sennheiser True Momentum 4, Bose QC II, Bose QC Ultra and ANC headphones Bose NC700, Bose QC Ultra, Sony XM5 and B&W Px8.

To be clear no "wired" headphone has ANC capabilities but almost all bluetooth headphones have wired abilities. Your pick for best in show ANC should come down to XM6 (stay away from the hinge issue with the XM5 unless you get the three year warranty), or the Bose QC Ultra. Step in price would be the Airpod MAX. And I think that studies have shown that for blocking out upper range noise (like crying) the XM6 is the best headphone although the differences are quite modest between it the Bose and the Apple.

I just received a pair. I am not impressed with the spacial separation, but impressed with noise cancellation. For their price, I was expecting an emersion of a sound field around my head and felt i was listening in a two dimensional stage. Am I missing something here? I am not a brand loyalist of Bose, but treat every brand equally until results prove otherwise.

I got the Bose QC Ultras, and while they are solid, I'd still rather have the Sony XM5s

I got the 1st gen regular QC from Costco for $160 ! And I also ordered the new QC Gen 2 ultra. Went from the basics to the best ! The question is, is it really worth the extra $300 for the QC Ultra Gen 2 ?? Why? It's Predict the Bitcoin price?? It's just a headphone ..

You should have got the sennheiser hdb 630. I just got this and also the Bose ultra gen 2. And I will keep what I like more

I'll throw in my 2c based on ones I have actually owned and used both on iOS and Android... 1. Bose QC (or QC45s) or QC Ultra. The most comfortable. Good enough sound, excellent ANC. Fold for easier carrying on the move. They have APTX adaptive/Snapdragon sound but no standard or HD APTX. Not many devices out there support Snapdragon sound 2. Sennheiser M4s. Fantastic sound, terrible ANC. Do not fold. 3. Sony M4s and M5s. Bose level ANC, mostly good if a little muddy at times sound. Cook my ears, the least comfortable by some distance, for me at least. M5s do not fold. 4. B&W P7 S2e. Fantastic sound. Ok, probably good enough ANC. Do not fold 5. B&W P7 S3. Pretty much as per the S2es, but they sound better and maybe the ANC is slightly better too, still not at Bose or Sony levels though. Still do not fold. They have Snapdragon sound, but they also have APTX HD and standard. I could never buy Sonys again unless I was sure the ear cooking had been resolved, I suspect though that this is down to their overall approach to ANC. The Bose QC45s or the new QCs (non-Ultra) are head and shoulders the most comfortable over-ear ANC cans I have owned.

I’m contemplating selling mine after using it maybe 3-4 times over the past few months. I was really looking forward to liking it. As much as I loved the audio quality, they weren’t very comfortable for me, personally. I always end up reaching for my AirPods Pro instead :(

\*\*primero quiero decir que siento un pequeno dolor ,precion o molestia al usarlos , en el cerebro , especialmente cuando prendo la anc , tambien lo senti con los airpods 2 pro , que por cierto perdi anc: anc es buena ,supongo su punto mas fuerte , pero solo para sonidos lineales , no impredecibles como voces , literal con ruido blanco no se escucha nada , y con ruido variable reduce como un 65% de ruido ,probablemente los sony wf 5 son mejores en este aspecto ya que especifican que la anc es mejor para las voces(aunque apostaria a un 69%) y a menos que seas taylor switft no te serviran de mucho, teoricamente por que no tengo los sony sonido : la verdad unos audifonos de 20 cad de waltmart , tienen sonido mas nitido y con mas "resolucion" tal cual una pantalla ,4k , hd etc , el sonido no es malo pero se siente como si la calidad estuviera en hd y frente a un 2k de los de 20 cad , por asi decirlo ,en cambio los sony wf 5 (que no tengo) especifican que el sonido es mas "fidelico" (algo asi como los modos de ps5) , y sinceramente en la bpractica apostaria a que el sonido de los sony es asta 3 veces mejor ,ya que ma mis gustos , la precicion y la fidelidad es mucho mejor que enfatizar en los graves , aparte que tambien los wf 5 tienen software especializado para mejorar el sonido , en otras palabras el sonido se siente como si pusieras un filtro tipo malla en la bocina y solo entraran lo mas fuerte ,no los detalles , es como si se perdieran los sonidos ,como si el sonido se sintiera muy suave , no "puntiagudo ccomo con otros audifonos", que para mi gusto eso es muy mrd , pero a lo mejor y no y talvez depende de la ocacion , los probe en un motorola y en una latitude 7400 no se si ese dato ayude , para lo demas ,en COMODIDAD , son exelentes , no se salen soportan diria cualquier tipo de ejercicio , y tambien son muy flexibles en la forma que tienen , tambien en el ASPECTO se ven muy bien diria un aspecto algo masculino , se siente el premium en todos los materiales , COLOR la verdad tengo los negros y apostaria a los blancos , siento que son mas esteticos XD AUDIO ESPACIAL : es bueno pero no se quien carajo lo escucharia xd , , y para sonidos 8d o 3d son perfectos me sorprendieron , pusse un video prueba ,y literalmente senti que alguien estaba a lado mio RESUMEN no te mortifiques tanto por decidir entre ambos , al final ambos son premium y se escuchan bien , dicen que los sony son muy toscos pero eso da igual si tus orejas son normales , ahora despues de todo si tueviera que elegir otravez elegiria los otros sinceramente sony wf 5 ,los compraria , pero es probable que talvez si eso sucede mi decicion cambie ,XD, en cuanto a comparacion con con los airpods 2pro , definitivamente son mejores en todos los aspectos (no voy a hacer una gran comparacion pero los airpods 2 los probe con android xd) en resumen AIRPODS 2(en android) 7/10 BOSE 10/10 y frente a los sony en teoria diria que SONY 12/10 BOSE 10/10 PD: no los voy a devolvel no tengo tiempo xd Importante !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cffff Si llegaste aqui ... 🙏🙏 gracias por todo BoseDeidad perdon por tan poco Primero que nada quiero pedir disculpas a bose por que por que no tenia experiencia con los audifonos y mis arbitrarias criticas carentes de objetividad , eclipsaron la verdadera magnificiencia de los audifonos , pues yo de muy imbecil avia escuchado todo este tiempo los audifonos con el ecualizador de motorola y automaticamente enfatizaba en los gravez y eclipsaba los agudos , no lo note asta hace 2 semanas de uso XDDDDD entonces para aclarar en el sonido no suena como unos audifonos de 20 dolares XDDDD , suena como 5 veces , con muchos detalles y siempre te hace mover la cabeza , una experiencia realmente premium , que me hace escuchar y perder la nocion por un tiempo considerable , mucho mejor que los airpod 2 pro(3.5/5) realmente , y la anc es simple mente terriblemente perfecta , el las canchas de basquetbol , cuando ponen musica de mrd en una bocina , cuando estoy en el receso de la prepa , son simplemente formidables , valen cada centavo , se vuelve totalmente increible parece magia , y con musica ni hablar , solo sonidos muy fuertes como una ambulancia logran penetrar la anc , recomiendo que se basen en especificaciones oficiales , pruebas cientificas , por que estoy seguro que confundi a mas de uno , en resumen valen totalmente el precio , y frente a otros audifonos de precio similar son elite , y las diferencias en ecencia son particularmente minimas 5/5 en general \*\*por lo de la precion inicial , en realidad si la senti pero con te acostumbras y ya no se siente PD : escribi como 3 criticas mas en otras plataformas XD , no las voy a cambiar , solo m acorde de redit cfff
