Mirroring what everyone else said, you’re probably used to your AirPods and the headset you chose likely punches below regular headphones at the same price range (it’s a gaming headset and the branding + microphone will hike the price up). I’d recommend looking at other open-back headphones that aren’t centered on gaming if you’re looking for pure audio improvement. Generally headsets sound worse than just headphones. Could also be a poor dac/amp as most motherboard audio is garbage, mine was unlistenable.
Give it some time listening only to the new headset (like a week) and then swap back to the AirPods to see if you truly prefer the AirPods. I remember thinking my hyperx cloud wireless headset sounded identical to my hd58x at first, and after a while I thought the hyper x headset was unlistenable 😭it could be not your cup of tea, and if so definitely return it and try something else, sound is very subjective.
I have had the wireless hyperx clouds for like 5 years now. Still going and haven’t died on me. While the audio fidelity may not be the greatest they are probably the best PC headphones I’ve ever had and I feel like I am an audiophile who has used quite a few brands.
Was looking for this comment. Not to mention the wireless battery on my clouds last like weeks at a time and I sometimes have 10+ hour gaming sessions on the weekends.
Been using various stereo headsets and gaming headsets all my life (yes, I'm old). Currently the most comfortable ones I own are a wireless HyperX Cloud headset. We actually have 3 variations of them here at home. I am on my second pair. Not for everyone but I cant handle the headset actually pressing on my ears. These cup the ear nicely so as to not put pressure directly on my ear. Not top of the line by any means but I have no complaints.
I like anything hyper X, me and all my friends use them, they sound good for a Bluetooth headphone, got good battery and range, and have fantastic customer support
