I think the crinkling issue relating to temperature and humidity is just a way for audeze to not take the blame, i had 3 pairs of the hyperx cloud orbit s and never had any crinkling. My first pair of maxwell also never had any crinkling, however the right earcup randomly died over night, so i got a replacement and directly out of the box they had excessive crinkling that got significantly worse till i asked for a refund after 1 week. On the maxwell 2 they only have to fix the crinkling/durability and the microphone quality and i would be ready to pay 700€ because there really isnt much to improve.
I have the hyper x wired gaming headset and it is very nice and very accurate
I'm by no means an audiophile, I just like to waste money on the next "upgrade", be it PC hardware, or headphones. However, I recently rediscovered my HyperX Clouds (they are "gaming headphones", but phenomenal for the price back in 2016), they actually sound good. I think I paid around £60 for them 10 years ago, I wouldn't be disappointed with them if I were dropped on a desert island with a decent battery bank. I prefer them to my mid range wireless BT Sony headphones that I typically use for travelling. My first pair of real headphones after the Clouds were the HD598SR, I only bought them because of the soundstage, and I was obsessed with CS:GO at the time. I was a bit disappointed with those, but the HyperX clouds were actually decent. I just expected more from a non gaming oriented product like the 598SR. And sure, my HD600s, Sundara and now Arya Stealth shit on all of them, but I still pull them out now and again. EDIT; Just to my nostalgic brain, the Clouds were my favourite headphone of all time. Not because they were great, but because they were such a leap over my previous £10-20 actual crap budget headset I found on Amazon because my previous one died.
Hi everyone, I’m officially tired of the "2-year cycle" where gaming headsets snap, batteries die, or hinges start rattling. I’m ready to drop significant money on a high-end wireless headset that actually lasts. **My Profile:** * **Primary Use:** Competitive FPS (Valorant, CS2, etc.). * **Priority 1:** Durability/Build Quality (Aiming for 5+ years of life). * **Priority 2:** Long-session Comfort. * **Priority 3:** Sound Imaging/Latency. * **Budget:** Up to $250. I’m paying for quality and peace of mind. I’ve narrowed it down to four contenders, but I have specific fears about each. I need your help to decide: **1. Logitech G Pro X 2 Lightspeed** * **The Fear:** I’ve heard the mic is mediocre and the "clamping force" can be a bit much for 6+ hour sessions. * **The Pull:** Graphene drivers (less distortion over time) and that all-metal fork construction. It feels like a tank. **2. Razer Blackshark V3 Pro** * **The Fear:** The build quality and materials. Since it is almost entirely made of plastic, I have a strong feeling it might be more "breakable" than the others. I’m also worried about those thin metal adjustment sliders (the hinges) being a major point of failure. * **The Pull:** The mic is best-in-class and, from my research, this is arguably one of the best headsets for FPS imaging. It’s also incredibly light. **3. HyperX Cloud III S Wireless** * **The Fear:** It feels "too simple." No ChatMix dial, basic software, and no extra bells and whistles. Is the tech too dated compared to the others? * **The Pull:** Legendary 120-hour battery. Fewer charging cycles = longer battery health. It’s the "Honda Civic" of headsets-reliable and comfortable. **4. Fractal Design Scape** * **The Fear:** It’s a newer entry in the headset market. Is the durability proven? Is the fabric-heavy design going to wear out or get dirty faster than leather/plastic? * **The Pull:** The Charging Dock is a game-changer for me (no more worn-out USB ports). It has a sober, premium build and uses the LC3+ codec for ultra-low latency. If your goal was to **never buy another headset again** (or at least for the next 5-7 years), which one would you choose? Is the Razer's fragility overblown? Is the Fractal Scape the sleeper hit I should be looking at? Or is the "safe" but basic HyperX the way to go? Looking forward to your insights! P.S. This is my first ever Reddit post, so please be kind! I've spent a lot of time researching this but I really value the "real-world" feedback from this community. Thanks in advance!
I wish I had your luck! I've gone through HyperX Clouds, Razer Krakens, and Sonys. Even with me babying them, it's always something: earpads peeling like a snake, one side randomly dying, or the mic starting to hiss like a haunted radio. I’m basically cursed. Trying to find a 'tank' this time so I can finally stop the madness!
Just get HyperX, they're awesome
I just came here and asked for headset advice not too long ago- I eventually settled on a HyperX and I love it! I went wired because I often got wireless interferance on my old wireless Logitech- I can't believe how much better my sound quality is.
SHP9500 phillips beyerdynamic dt990 premium. any of the beyer headphones will be fine. pick your poison, closed back or open. btw the shp9500 can be modified to have a mic attached. all the above are fine for PC. and you mentioned headphones. didnt mention “headset” beyer makes full headsets but they are expensive. alot dont like the treble either. dont get phillips shp9500 for a console. controllers arent enough for it. um….im not recommending them. they are horridly overpriced. and i consider them garbage for the price. astro headphones worked fine with glasses. anyways you didnt come here asking for sound quality advice just what doesnt suck for glasses. hyper x clouds are good. oh use velour pads. just go with hyperx clouds its cheap and gets the job done, my daughter is 11 and wears a pair with glasses too.. if they dont come with velour pads order some on hyperx website
ofcourse! i once decided down the path of finding the best ones with glasses(which i basically ordered multiple headphones from amazon) ended up with the astros….sent them all back besides those. they were expensive, but at the time the best thing i found. lol they were velour could be why. well awesome hopefully velour solves your problem 😎
HyperX have been so good to me I couldn’t see changing anytime soon
