We went through the same thing with my autistic nephew, bathrooms were a total no-go for him because the sudden flush and echo would completely overwhelm him. What helped was giving him a heads-up before we even walk in and letting him put his headphones on first so he feels in control. Starting with quieter single-stalls made it easier too. We use the clever bth20 for him. They’re kid-sized and non-toxic, and the noise-reduction takes the edge off those sudden flushes just enough. And honestly the best part for us is that they bend in every direction, he twists and squeezes things when he’s anxious, so the fact that the headphones survive that has been a huge win.
My two are a bit younger but we’ve been running iclever bth20 for a while now and they’ve been solid for kid use. At this age I care more about safe-ish materials, comfy enough and doesn’t die when they chuck it in the car than fancy sound. That one just makes sens. Plus volume limiting and some noise reduction. For around thirty bucks I’m not stressed if they’re not gentle with it.
Waoooo, Monster Jam is wild. Took my twin boys last year and they haven't stopped asking to go back… no tickets this year for us tho, rip 😭 For kids hearing protection is a must. That's stupid LOUD. My wife grabbed iclever bth20 for kids cause they did pretty well with the noise and volume. My spawns were usually weird about noise before, but with those on they were fine the whole show. So that’s a win. Also! Don’t forget masks and wipes. The dust at the venue is next level. Hope you guys have a blast!!
Same here, our iclever bth20 only about $50. Way easier to swallow for a grade-school kid, and it still does the safety cap and real ANC thing.
My kid’s big for his age too, but I’m still not brave enough to hand him an adult pair. NO hearing protection NO volume cap on those, he WILL crank it the second I look away. So we just stuck with kids headphones. He’s been on the iClever bth20 for a year now and it still fits fine. No issues with plane noise at all. I've tried it on and it didn’t feel snug in a bad way, so I’m guessing it’ll carry him into the early teen years just fine.
I went with the iClever BTH20. They are noise “cancelling”, option to be wired or Bluetooth, and have that feature where they can daisy chain to another headset. After seeing my 3 year old handle these I’m very happy I didn’t get Puro ones lol.
We like iclever off Amazon because they don’t “squeeze” their head as much as other brands and have good noise reduction. My oldest likes her loop earbuds as well if she can tolerate those.
Honestly, you really don’t need to spend $300 on Bose for a kid. We’ve been using iclever and it’s been a solid value for us, it keeps a hard 80dB limit for safety and actually has real ANC, not just padded cups. My kid also complains way less about that weird ear pressure feeling compared to adult headphones.
Does that pair have volume limiting or hearing protection? If not, might be better to switch to something more kid friendly. Usually safer and more comfortable. Ear pain could also just be the size, too small or too tight on their head. Trying different shapes and sizes helped here more than anything else. I went through a bunch of testing and frustration before I could FINALLY BREATHE. The one worked best for my kids is iclever. Older one's on the anc model and younger one's got the cat ear. Both are really nice. Hope it helps with your headache.
We use the iclever Bluetooth on Amazon. They might be a tad big for a 2 year old but they worked great when our daughter was 3-4.
same here! my kid’s been using iclever too
