r/headphonesTried the HDB 630s today, was disappointed by the hype
4 months ago

I'm looking for a closed over-ear headphone that sounds better than the S4R. Would I like the HDB 630? My headphones ranking goes something like: Stax 009 ER4S Stax SRS-2170 Koss ESP-950 HD580 Koss ESP-9 Ollo S4R 1.1 DT1350 DT990 Pro Sony MDR-EX15 (hard to rank these, actually) K701 HD25 KRK 6400 Ixos MOS DJ1001 Koss Sporta Pros and KSC equivalents Sony V6 & 7506 Harman Kardon ANC Fly (muddy mess)

r/headphonesSubstantially more accurate over ear closed headphone than S4R?

Any closed over-ear headphone that sounds substantially more accurate than the S4R without going to exotic ultra-expensive vintage Stax? Maybe too much to ask for compared to those I put above it. The ESP-9 is awesome but HEAVY. DT1350 is on ear. Heck, the Koss practically is too with the shallow Koss pads. ER4S tier is too high a bar obviously for over ear closed. My headphones ranking goes something like: Stax 009 ER4S Stax SRS-2170 Koss ESP-950 HD580 Koss ESP-9 DT1350 Ollo S4R 1.1 DT990 Pro Sony MDR-EX15 (hard to rank these, actually) KRK 6400 K701 HD25 Ixos MOS DJ1001 Airpods 4 ANC Koss Sporta Pros and KSC equivalents Koss ProDJ100 Sony V6 & 7506 (bit too bright and glassy) Harman Kardon ANC Fly (too muddy but ok utility ANC headphone)

Koss Porta Pros with a pair of Yaxi pads are my go to for my DAP. Sound great and are portable.

The lifetime warranty is no joke. Just had a pair replaced that I had fixed myself. No questions asked, just sent a replacement. I pick up my Porta pros more than my other headsets because they sound good enough 90% of the time.

r/headphonesFor work (conversations, not music) should I get closed, open, or semi-open headphones?

I use both open and closed back headphones for meetings. I never have any conversation bleed from open backs. I most use my Koss porta pros for meetings. They are not great for all day use though. My ears get sore after an hour of use. For longer meetings I'll use my Sennheiser HD 6XX, FIIO FT1, or Meze 109 Pro depending on my mood.

Have owned various headphones throughout the years and realized I'm not a headphone person, but if I had to pick (and actually like)... Koss Porta Pros Done. These are the most comfortable and sound pleasing to *my ears*. No more messing around with amps, ear pads, sound signatures, etc. that the headphone community likes to fiddle with. Just using them with some cheap $20 USBC DAC and my phone. Moving on and selling the rest of my gear and gonna enjoy music from now on.

Slightly Just can't believe I went through all the trouble and money to land on these $40 headphones as my all-time pick

Nope I've bought and sold over 20 pairs over the past decade just messing with them. I got tired of testing songs with A and B headphones to see which is better, realized I was just chasing gear and not actually listening to music instead. Also realized I'm not a headphones person. Alot of them either felt uncomfortable or warm on my ears after some time. Only ones that did are these Porta Pros or AKGs, but even then I just can't sit still with headphones on for too long. I'll keep the Portas for those rare occasions... they're the best all-rounder no fuss headphones for my ears

Same here. I’ve owned Sennheiser, Stax, Audeze, you name it everything over $1k. Ended up just using Porta Pros and AirPods because they’re convenient and good enough.

I have long hair and my porta pros never pull my hair. Im wondering what the hell people are doing to get hair stuck in these things?!?

They are amazing for listening out and about if you value situational awareness and safety. Its like bone conducting headphones that actually sound incredible.

Porta pros are amazing. They sound way better than their price suggests. Thry look cool too. My pair are extremely comfortable as well.

I use a Quidelix Bluetooth amp, about the size of a small tic tac container and clipped to my shorts, connected to wired Koss Porta Pros. Sounds great. The Quidelix is also generally a great little portable amp. Even has a “transparency” function where you can hear your surroundings if you want.

Koss Porta pros were such a rage back in the day. I have like 4 or 5 pairs because I stuffed one set in my bag, at home, in the car, at work etc
